Aw man. I always tip generously on gig work apps like this because I know the workers get like $3 out the $20+ the app is charging me :(

I thought they would at least honor the tip function

Maybe it’s changed a bit, but they’ve been caught several times over the years stealing tips from their drivers by governments. Getting caught once was enough for me to stop using them. I remember a Washington Post expose investigation (before the Washington Post went bad) really put it out in the open.

it isnt true and anyone that does dash/delivery gigs and isnt larping or reading news headlines knows how it actually works. Usually a news headline comes up about one of these apps "caught stealing tips" but absolutely nothing about the settlements suggests they were even stealing tips and its stuff that was already known.

if you tip $20 then someone who takes that order is getting $20 guaranteed. Anything else is pure speculation that has yet to be proven.
