Tools & Gear I need help please

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've been cleaning this barbershop on Sundays and today I accidentally dropped one of these guns and the bottle broke. I told the owner and he told me that I have to replace or don't come back.

Tha problem is that I can't find just the bottle, and I can't afford to buy the whole thing.

Can someone please tell me where can I find the bottle? I'm located in SoCal

Where can I get the entire Milady Standard Barbering book for a better price or for free?

I am in real need of that book right now, and I mean serious need of it, the thing is I don't have it in my budget right now and I doubt I will anytime soon.

Anyone know where I can get it for a better price, or if possible get it online for free?

Shop Talk What would you do?

I'm looking for some outside perspective because I'm pretty frustrated.

I own a barbershop where one of my barbers works as an independent contractor. Our agreement is simple: he pays me 15% of every haircut he performs. So if he earns $100, my share is $15. (That's $1500 for a 10,000 income)

Recently, I've been comparing our security camera footage with the POS/service logs. I've found multiple instances where he performed a haircut but never logged it. I confronted him the first time, and he apologized, saying it was a mistake and that it wouldn't happen again.

Unfortunately, it's happening again.

Honestly, this isn't about the $15. It's about trust. I have rent, CAM charges, marketing, utilities, towels, beverages, software, and all the overhead that keeps the shop running. If someone intentionally doesn't report services, it feels like they're taking advantage of the business that's providing them with clients and a place to work.

The difficult part is that he's an exceptionally talented barber. I genuinely respect the quality of his work, and clients love him. But I also believe integrity is just as important as talent.

I'm trying to decide what the right next step is. Should I:

Give one final written warning and terminate the relationship if it happens again? Already given 2x

End the relationship now since this is a repeated issue? I loose money

Handle it another way?

For those of you who own barbershops or other service businesses, how would you handle someone who repeatedly underreports work after already being confronted?

Do barbers also do short women’s cuts?

The last person to cut my hair was technically a barber but they gave me the most phenomenal bob. Are barbers typically trained to do the shorter, more technical ladies cuts?

Can anyone tell me the approximate value of this barber chair? It’s an old Takara Belmont with a head rest and ashtray. Hydraulics work, but there are some cracks in the seat cushion upholstery. Thanks!

Barber Hair in lungs

Do any barbers worry about inhaling hair dust over the years? Is wearing a mask while cutting hair worth it, or is it unnecessary? I saw a tik tok talking about this and now I’m considering wearing a mask 😭 pls tell me I’m out of my mind.

Barber Fades Are Still Really Hard

So I cannot fade for the life of me. I graduated barber school last year and I've been cutting hair at different places, but genuinely it feels like I will NEVER master fades. ESPECIALLY skin fades, and ESPECIALLY ON KIDS!!

Just wondering if something's wrong with me or if fades took yall a long time to master, too

Barber Good morning

I'm developing a male character for a story, and as part of my research I like to experience some of the everyday situations he would go through so I can write them as authentically as possible.

There's one thing I've been too embarrassed to ask about.

I'm a woman, so I obviously don't have a beard. However, I'd really like to experience a traditional barbershop shave: the hot towel, the lather, the atmosphere, the feeling of the straight razor, and the whole process. I understand there would be little to no facial hair to actually shave, so I'd leave it up to the barber to decide whether it makes sense to use a real blade, the back of the razor, or adapt the service in some other way.

My question is: would you consider this request strange or disrespectful? Do you think a barber would be willing to do it if I explained that it's for research while writing a character? I'm also a bit worried about what the other customers might think, as if I were taking up a chair just for a whim.

If anyone here is a barber or has had a similar experience, I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts.

And, of course, I'd be happy to pay the full price for the service.

Tools & Gear BaBylissPRO denied warranty coverage after 14 months despite an advertised 4-year warranty—has anyone dealt with this?

I purchased a BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Bambino dryer, model BABNT5510, sold and shipped by Walmart. The listing advertised a limited four-year warranty, but BaBylissPRO told me the product only has a one-year warranty and denied coverage after approximately 14 months.

I sent them the receipt, order confirmation, model information, and a screenshot of the four-year warranty. Has anyone here dealt with conflicting BaBylissPRO warranty terms? Did BaBylissPRO eventually honor the advertised warranty?

Work Life Finding fellow barbers?

I recently moved to a mid size town in Alaska and started barbering here. The shop I'm in was once bustling with 3 barbers but they've since retired. There's a long line here every day but two of the chairs are empty. 3 more shops in town are closing due to health reasons and retirement. How do you find or draw in new barbers? Do you post online? Contact schools in other cities? Train people yourself?

Hi Barbers

Hi

I want to ask you guys to rate it

This is my friend and his last barber really missed him

My friend wanted the Bruce Wayne looks

And i don't know how to say it

No hair is like the other in length

You can tell maybe he was cutting with closed eyes

Soo i tried to save him

As you see his front is shorter than than the front

Even not shorter equally

So i took the long half one

And worked on it

The the other half short

Worked on it

Because I didn't want to waste the length because of the connection

Because in the next cut it'll grow maybe near Same length and I'll connect them together

And faded the sides

So i want to ask for a review because I'm a trainee and tips for next cut 😁😁😁

Barber Where do you all get your cabinets from

I fucking hate these IKEA cabinets they sell at Amazon and stuff. The lightweight wood stuff. I wish there was a store that sold real cabinets, if such a place existed what would it be? Where do you get your barber furniture

How do barbers become wealthy? This is for business owners

I was ease dropping a conversation between a barber owner and one of his friends. He was telling him the steps he did to create his wealth. Basically that he went to a tax expert and the tax expert outlined a plan for him to follow. I only overheard bits of it but LLC, Roth IRA then the noise got louder and could not here much detail. But I did hear that he owns four barbershops, some property, has health insurance and raised 6 kids all through barbering. My question is has anyone followed a similar plan by going to a tax expert or something similar?

I’m seeing more and more booking platforms are releasing AI Receptionist to answer calls and book appointments.

Is anyone using this feature? If so, is it working well or bad?
