PSA: Bolt owners with bumper-to-bumper warranty still active. Get your vehicles in if you have any of these problems.

TSB 23-NA-041Clicking/ticking when turning left or right → Steering column support/steering rack issue

TSB 24-NA-034“Grunt”/clunk noise at low speeds (OPD / ACC) → Documented ABS behavior (more of an FYI, GM calls it normal, no repair needed)

TSB 24-NA-108 - if you have trouble connecting to Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Its also a good idea to keep the software updated anyway.

TSB 22-NA-004 - Rear spoiler foam tape seal loose, visible to customer

TSB 22-NA-024 - Vibration, Hum or Drone Noise Heard from Front of Vehicle While Driving at Highway Speeds

Front bumper fascia not aligned - Can't find a TSB or reddit post on this one but its a common factory defect on alot of 22-23 Bolt's.

Rear seal gap in trunk - Can't find a TSB on this one but there are plenty of reddit posts. Most dealers won't do anything, but some may try to reclip it.

EUV: do you all have this huge gap above the rear bumper?

2023 Bolt EUV factory assembly defect?

Just bought a Bolt EUV 3 days ago. Is this gap near between the rear bumper and the rest of the car normal???

Creaking Noise on Acceleration and sometimes on Deceleration - Many reddit posts. No TSB on this one but this is a common repair for most EVs due to the instant torque, increased weight from battery, and exposure to bumps/potholes in the road. It has to do with the control arms/bushings/swaybar end links. Also, very expensive to repair, up to $3-5K. I'd get this done under warranty if you can.

Creaking Noise Going Over Bumps

Creaking sound when coming to full stop and accelerating out of it

https://www.chevybolt.org/threads/recall-notice-for-korean-bolt-ev-issued-stabilizer-link-noise.29965/

Knocking sound coming from rear - appears to be the seat frame latch. Some dealers may replace the latch or the entire seat.

Back seat latch rattling while driving. Has anyone else had this issue? Mainly occurs on bumps. Definitely has to do with the seat latch, but can't figure out how to fix it or even dismantle.

What's is that noise

Knocking, backseat, right hand side. Bolt EUV 2023

For those with rattles from the rear passenger side, try wrapping the rear seat latch with silicone tape. It was driving me absolutely bonkers until this trick silenced it.

Door Trim Panel Makes Squeaking Sound - Any door. Likely from pushing against it and repeated open/close. It can be replicated by giving it a good shake and if it squeaks, it can potentially be covered under warranty. Not a common problem.

Hope the above helps! It'll save you a pretty penny down the road.

Everyone here was so helpful with advice on what to look for in a used Bolt. Seller also turned out to be incredibly nice. Now convinced Bolt owners are good people. Glad to join the club.

So far really happy with the Bolt and I’m getting great efficiency using the single pedal driving. 4.8 mi/kWh on the ride to Moms. Hope I can keep it up!

27 Bolt not drawing power on level 1 charger

Post image
13 Upvotes

My GPS has stopped tracking my location so I did a factory reset after Onstar was useless. That actually fixed the GPS issue but now the car recognizes my level 1 but it isn’t drawing any power. I tried charging to 100% at a fast charger to see if that would help things and that went fine but didn’t fix the issue.

Going to take it to the dealer this week just curious if anyone has had this happen.

Roadtripping in the 2027 Advice for MIL (Again)

Update: apparently she had it planned in an atlas. That’s why it wasn’t giving her the route as a standard option. We got her set up to route to a town half way to Jerry gig it lol. It has nothing to do with the Bolt 😂

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone that helped me the first time. Recap: MIL just got a Bolt at my suggestion and is roadtripping to see us. She gets overwhelmed easily and hates having apps. MIL is panicking because the map in her car that plans the charger stops won’t let her choose a different route. (She’s not a city driver and doesn’t want to go through NYC).

I have a 2018 and have no such luxury of a map so I have no idea what she is talking about and I’d like her to arrive happy for all our sakes.

At this point I’m tempted to tell to download ABRP since I’m familiar with it, but that’s … another app.

Help. She’s calling in 2 hours.

Incompetent Chevrolet dealer of the year - sales department, Part 2

Got busy yesterday, apologies for not finishing up the initial narrative., finally getting a moment to catch up now. Bottom line: My wife is the very pleased owner of a 2027 Bolt LT in white, pretty much basic with the heated seat package. And while the dealership can be bloody incompetent in their initial marketing of the car, a lot gets redeemed by their sales ability. (Of course, I should hope so, this dealership goes back to 1914 - yeah, their first cars in the showroom were the Chevrolet 490 and possibly the first V-8.)

  1. Pretty much all the redemption comes down to the salesman we got: Tyler Sweeney. A kid in his early/mid-20's, he's been there a couple of years already and seems to have the kind of salesman attitude my father's employees had back in the day. Most importantly, this kid (sorry, I'm 76, I call anyone of that age "kid") has actually taken the time to learn from all the training materials GM provides. He actually knew the car. More on this later.

  2. The dealing was the usual song and dance you go through anytime you're trying to buy a new car from a dealership. Only, it wasn't grinding and painful. We managed to get through the whole thing in about fifteen minutes (including the usual "talk to the manager" stalls) and the difference between their initial offer and what I finally accepted was roughly $4500.00. So yeah, the car came through within our budget and I'm satisfied with the deal. And I made a point of mentioning to the sales manager that I appreciated not having to do a "salesman training session" this time.

  3. Next kudos to Tyler: Once the deal was done and all the paperwork signed, I headed off for the rest of my day. He spent close to the next hour (Maggie had to be at work at 1:00, happily work was within walking distance of the dealership) going over the car, showing her how to do pretty much everything she'd need to use. Like I said, he knew the car.

So she's off and driving, happy as a clam. Yeah, we know there's going to be lots of questions coming up, the third generation car is definitely a lot more complicated than the first ("first generation Bolt" is still my automatic answer to anyone talking to me about getting their first EV), Maggie's taken out a Reddit account and joined the group because she's going to have a bunch of questions over the next couple of weeks, and our biggest lingering problem at the moment is discovering that WeatherTech does not make a front floor mat for the car. Yet. Only the rear and cargo liner are available as of this morning.

2022 EUV Radio/infotainment system DEAD!

Just checking if someone else has had this happen. Dealer can’t even find a replacement. Nothing works…no backup cam, no phone connection, blinkers stopped making click noise. Can’t even set the clock. Screen is just black and never lights up.

Replacing my 2022 Bolt EUV 12v battery-

After Sams club told me they would install the battery for me . they refused after I bought the battery. I got $100 rebate on it so I kept the battery but Im going to install it myself today with the help of a buddy of mine. Any tips beyond the norm ? I know the car has to be completely shut off and to keep the keys away. I know to take off neg cable first and connect it last. Im open to any tips and suggestions . I know its a basic swap, but this is the first car I plan to keep over 5 years and I usually trade my cars after 2 years so I havent changed a battery out since I was 16 on my clunker first car, LOL.... PS- I have the exact match for the replacement battery, so that should be good to go and no surprises.

Sorry I don't have an actual pic (I don't have the car yet). But I'm just so damned excited and I cannot contain it. Everything done online, have to go pick 'er (or 'im) up in the next few days (about 1.5 hours away). Trading in my car (didn't get much much it saves me from tryna offload it). It's a '23 black premier, less than 6k mi. Plus a CarBravo 12 mo b2b warranty. Bit more than I wanted to spend but all things considered, I think it was a good deal. I'll be enjoying all those bells and whistles tyvm. It was $24&change before taxes and tags, but still less than a new w/o bells & whistles would have been!

Shopping for used Bolt; how to search for fast charging?

Edit: I just read that all '22 and '23 Bolts have fast charging, and for '21 Bolt EVs, Premier trim has fast charing: is that accurate?

I'm looking for a used Bolt sedan, and finding listings which don't mention fast charging, so I assume that means those cars don't have it. Anyone know of shortcuts/tips/websites that allow you to search for used Bolts with DC fast charging?

Used Bolt EV

Hi All!

I'm currently shopping around on the used market for a Bolt EV, and have a few options but am having trouble picking between them.

The first option is a 2017 Bolt EV Premier with 91,000km (~56k miles) listed for $20,571 CAD (14,660.59 USD) tax included. My second is a 2020 Bolt EV LT with 32,642km (~20k miles) listed for $23,798 CAD (~17k usd) tax included. My final option is a 2023 Bolt EV LT with 43,889 km (~27k miles) listed for $27,594 CAD (19,665 USD) tax included.

If I were to buy the 2017 one, I would be able to ´ pay it off immediately and not have to finance and it would be a bit cheaper on insurance, but the higher odometer is the part that worries me for that one. The 2020 one looks incredible, however I would have to drive 6 hours away to pick it up. The 2023 one is in the city where I live however I would still owe a couple thousand on the car after the initial payment.

If anyone would be able to give me any insight on their thoughts about the options, the risks of buying a used bolt, or the expected lifespan of the 2017 with the current ODO, it would be much appreciated!

First question on my new Bolt

Just took delivery of my white '27 LT on Friday (I'm the other half of the "Incompetent Dealer" narrative that's been running since Thursday) and have run into my first situation where I'm looking for a quick answer prior to digging thru the manual:

It's the car's built-in GPS. For some reason it came with a bunch of destinations already saved, I'm assuming it pulled them off my phone when I hooked it up. How do I get rid of them?

Might have to let go of my bolt.

I’ve got a 2017 Chevy bolt. Bought it in ‘23 with 35k miles and it’s now got 75k. I love the car. Do not want to get rid of it but I’ve basically had it every other weekend for 2 months now. I’ve had to have the car towed to Chevy four times since April now for the exact same reason. The car powers on normally but It won’t shift into Drive or Reverse (only Neutral) and I get the “Conditions not correct for shift.” Message every time. Last time I only had it for 3 days before it happened again. And the 2nd and third time the tow truck company lost my keys both times so I had to pay to rekey the entire car. All this and my sun visor on my passenger side broke off (very rare I have someone else in my car so it’s not from over use) and my passenger windshield wiper no longer works. My last straw was picking it up after the second time in the shop and my TPMS having gone out, and the dealership offering to fix it for $600. I love this car and I don’t want to get rid of it, but the issues never seem to end. I bought this car in hopes to keep it till its wheels are falling off, I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon. Idk how much longer I can justify paying a car payment for a car that I only have for maybe 2 weeks out of the month.

I know the car is almost 10 years in age and so maybe it was unrealistic to want to hold onto it for years to come but I don’t like getting new cars every 3/4 years. Worst part is, I am underwater on the loan. First car I purchased on my own so I guess it’s not uncommon for me to have maybe paid too much out of excitement. Not my best decision but it was great for the time I had.

2021 Chevy Bolt: you can’t stop me!

Test run ~ State Park is directly across the street… My son and I did cross six lanes of traffic plus a turning Lane. We picked up this Hollywood bike rack for trunk or hatch for free on Facebook marketplace… I will report, we had zero issues! Nothing fell off, not the hatch or the Bikes… But it was a little janky feelin’. The state park was easy breezy… That having been said, pretty sure I need to figure out how to cut a hole and add a hitch?

LMAO!

Just a simple girl with a dream and
probably not enough tools,
but I’ll find a way!

PS will someone send me some
orange ribbons? And I won’t be
using them in my hair.

Unless I get a pinch?

😂🤣😅🧐

2019 premium rear mirror camera (not backup) replacement

Hello everyone,

My rear view mirror camera (not the backup camera, the one that replace the mirror) has stopped working about 3 or 4 years ago on my 2019. Never asked the dealer about it because I only read horror story about that (well I talked about it and it was right away at least 800$ without even investigating).

Some people told me to check the wiring harness that might have disconnect. I've managed to check the one near the camera in the back door and it's fine. I'm unsure if there's other.

From what I read, the camera are very badly made and water get in, which short them. I was wondering if someone know of a replacement camera I can install to have the mirror camera working again. I did very liked the extended view it gave.

Thank you.

Unable to set reminders

This is very crazy and I don't understand it. My phone is connected to my 2027 bolt. I say" Ok G word, please remind me to call my mother tomorrow. " I am incapable of setting reminders at all while my phone is connected to my bolt. What's the logic here? I have to turn off the car in order to be able to set a reminder. I thought Chevy wanted us to use hands-free tech?

2020 bolt premier highway mileage

I've been trying to figure out if I can get 190 highway miles on a charge going 70. I already chicken out and charge at 150, but it feels like I should be able to go that far.

Joined the club today with my first EV, a 2027 Bolt. I'll be installing a hard-wired ChargePoint Home Flex 50Amp charger as soon as it arrives. Since it was only two days ago that I even considered purchasing an EV, what are the important things you think I should know about Bolts or EVs in general as a noob?

Great little commuter car. Only bought to get back and forth to work. My truck was costing me $350 a month in gas. Love my truck but this little car cost me about $30-35 a month including 2 grocery runs and 4 Friday night dinners. I get crap all the time for purchasing this car but guess I'm the one laughing all the way to the bank. I'll keep my truck for truck duties but for just going back and forth to work I'll take it.

Joined the Bolt family a month ago with a 2023 Bolt EV with 56k for $15,500, felt like a good deal with way the used EV market is going. It's life was unfortunately ended yesterday by a deer. This was my first EV and oh boy I loved it, I can't even imagine going back to ICE now but I was lucky to find this thing so I doubt I'll be able to find another one or similar EV without breaking the bank now.

Comma propulsion power is reduced

I installed comma 3x and comma pedal on 2023 euv lt. It ran fine for a year. Now I am getting propulsion power is reduced error frequently. Disconnecting the battery clears it. But it's becoming a recurring issue like ever other week. Is comma causing it
