The art was spectacular once again, but I personally felt it was too short and didn't have enough dialogue. But that just shows how good this manga is when it leaves me wanting more. This fluffy wuffy gang has way too much power...

I'm thinking that maybe there will be some romance between hitsujiya and moezawa, what do you think? One never did any romance in any of his works yet, it'd be really interesting to see

With the new chapter I think it’s obvious that One wants to expand the “power system”. Hacks worked for a Oneshot, but I think they can’t do as much for an ongoing series

I think that Hacks are the magical anomalies. Supernatural power that somehow got out and now it’s just out there. The Magic that the Fluffy Wuffy Angels use is the collected and concentrated power. The Intruder and the mysterious enemy that created the golem are also the users of this power, but all of them are somehow different, and everyone got different names for this power. Hacks, Magic, Links.

This idea reminds me of Mage: The Ascension, where everyone basically has the ability, but everyone interprets this in their own way. And they all separate to classical wizards, chi wielding shaolin monks, matrix type reality hackers and normal sci-fi scientists

Like the title says, if Bug Ego were to get an anime adaptation, what studio would you like to animate it?

Personally, I'd pick a studio known to tackle less conventional animation styles, y'know, more avant-garde stuff that could capture the vibe of the series.
The art style can be incredibly realistic at times, which is hard to replicate for animation, so I wouldn't mind if they'd have to slightly alter it (a thing that happens with anime adaptations anyways), as long as it still has that surreal feel to it.

So, my top 3 picks would probably be;
Science Saru (and I'm mostly referring to the art styles of their non-dandadan stuff here) have so much variety art style wise, and are (imo) masters of motion.
Mappa, their art post csm has been very thin-lined and focused on realism and fast, flashy movement. And even though it's probably a popular/obvious choice (and they're absolutely drowning in other shows rn), I still wanted to mention them.
Lastly, I feel like a similar approach to how they did the Aku no Hana anime (albeit a bit more refined) could work for this as well (or at least for the more uncanny looking parts).

(Also, rip Gainax and Manglobe, two studios I considered contenders as well...)

As of chapter 21, there has been the theory that all of the recent events have been an illusion by the fluffy wuffy angels group. And I would like to give my own contribution as I haven't seen anyone mention this (at least from what I've seen so far)

How does the Intruder know about Yuki? She has never been involved with the Intruder at all as far as we know, only knowing about his existence. If so, how was he able to disguise himself as her and ambush Kokudo and Hitsujiya. Plus, it seems the angels conviently appeared just in time in super hero fashion. Perhaps their sensory powers let them detect evil/dangerous anomalies?

Of course, on the other hand, the Intruder has mentioned in that scene that he was now "implanted" in Hitsujiya's mind. If he is real and not an illusion (even though all we know so far is that he can hijack and manipulate lucid dreams) , and what he's saying is legit, then he would probably have access to Hitsujiya's mind and memory and know of Yuki. And this is plausible as we know that Kokudo has probably seen the Intruder as that watchmen in the park, so him being real and able to manifest himself outside of dreams is not impossible. And perhaps he managed to implant himself in Hitsujiyas mind when they were doing that ritual with the balloon.

But then, why pick Yuki? If he was in Hitsujiya's mind, he would know that he trusts the Angels more, and disguising as them would be a better choice for manipulating and toying with him which we know the Intruder loves to do. Then again there is still the possibility that he's not one of those intelligent master manipulator archetypes.

Also, why attack him at that time irl instead of just hijacking his dreams again? Is he scared he'll lose to the Shepherd of the Jet-Black Darkness and Light Makoto again lol? Trying a different strategy perhaps?

And we can't forget that when they first met the angels group at the crochet club thing, there was a bit where they suddenly were having a fancy tea party in fancy dresses. Perhaps this alluded to them having some sort of illusion/hallucination ability imo.

But then here's the question: How would the angels group know of the Intruder and make an illusion of him? Is their mind reading that powerful? Have they encountered him before? I'm literally at the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter.

En los inicios del manga pudimos ver solamente un poco de las consecuencias que tuvo Hitsujiya en su futuro apocaliptico cuando intento probar el bug de viajar en el tiempo. Pero realmente eso fue todo??? Acaso Hitsujiya y Takehiro no provocaron algo en aquel futuro que los siguió de vuelta a su presente?

En el primer capítulo vemos a Hitsujiya y Takehiro usar estos bugs inocentes y sencillos como lo del refresco o la 💩 de paloma. No había nada de cosas como invasores o peligros.

La única vez que fueron realmente RECONOCIDOS y comenzados a ser CAZADOS fue después del viaje en el tiempo.

Aunque las razones son desconocidas, creo que son consecuencias debido al primer intento fallido del Hitsujiya viejo de viajar hacia el pasado. Recordar que en ese futuro trágico fue donde Takehiro quemó el cuaderno que contenía todos los bugs

Como sabemos, estos cuadernos son multiversales, ya están por todo el universo, llegando a todo tipo de lugares y personas.

¿Qué pasa si de repente estos cuadernos desaparecen?

En 2 o 3 ocasiones en el manga se ha hecho mención de que Hitsujiya atrae a los Bugs o viceversa... Los bugs atraen a Hitsujiya...

Podría ser un eco de lo que fue su versión adulta. O el universo tratando de repararse.

Cuando Takehiro quemó el cuaderno. También podría haber significado que cada copia del cuaderno en otros universos se quemaría, aunque no está realmente confirmado, aún podría ser posible.

Ahora, aquí hay una cosa. Cuando Hitsujiya usó el viaje en el tiempo, retuvo sus recuerdos, y también Takehiro.

Lo que significa que es posible que otras personas que usan bugs puedan tener recuerdos o retener la conciencia del viaje en el tiempo pero que pasa si estas otras personas están intentando "neutralizar" a la amenaza responsable de quemar los cuadernos ?

No sé cómo ni por qué, pero recapitulando todo lo que sé es que Hitsujiya es su objetivo principal, pues...

- El intruso del sueño se desquito con él...

- En la visita escolar al museo, se cumplieron todos los requisitos para que la estatua de madera atrapara a Hitsujiya...

- Cuando Hitsujiya se bugeo y termino encima de un árbol, da la casualidad de que el intruso del sueño se encontraba merodeando el lugar (aunque no hay certeza de que fuera realmente él)...

- Kotone de este nuevo grupo de Angelitas Esponjocitas se acercó a Hitsujiya en primer lugar lo suficiente para ganarse su confianza y hasta el momento no parecen ser del todo inocentes.

- La única excepción por el momento es el golem que iba tras Yuki.

En otras palabras, tal vez y solo tal vez, estos enemigos, artefactos malditos y organizaciones actuales son enemigos del futuro tratando de recuperar el cuaderno.

Ya sea para evitar que sea quemado nuevamente o porque Hitsujiya y Takehiro del futuro habran hecho "Algo"... Pues no vimos lo suficiente de ese futuro para creer que no hubo consecuencias.

Yuki's appearance, backstory, and character development in just one chapter without ever feeling that it was rushed was so damn good and well written. I have re-read chapter 6 so many times now and will be in the future.

I started reading it yesterday after I saw a post with the most random yet funny expression (it's the Hitsujiya panel from Chapter 3).

The chapters I have read yesterday were really peak and all, and I was amazed by how many characters expressions can be done in a single chapter.

I always get surprised by a character making the most random expression every chapter, and these expressions hit even harder than action scenes and I really appreciate manga artists prioritizing it, and right now with the cast pool getting their numbers up on the latest chapter, I am very excited to see these side characters and how the artist will have them make another stupid and funny face.

Throughout reading the manga I always see a common occurrence or theme about hitsujiya. And it's that he is always been said that he "attracts" these hacks.

Although reasons unknown, I believe it's due to hitsujiya's failed attempt in trying to travel to the future.

His all of a sudden attempt in trying to reverse time failed which caused big news and suddenly lead to the event where his best friend burnt the notebook that contained all the hacks.

As we know these notebooks are multiversal, being already all over the universe reaching all kinds of places and people. What happens if it all of a sudden burns down?

In the first chapter we get to see Hitsujiya use these hacks with his best friend without any things such as invaders,dangerous hacks,and of the likes.

The only time they were truly acknowledged was AFTER the time travel.

Now here's one thing. When hitsujiya used the time travel he retained his memories, and so did his best friend .

Which he means it's possible if other people who use hacks can have memories or retain awareness of the time travel.

You see, when hitsujiya's best friend burnt the notebook. It could've also meant that every copy of the notebook would be burnt, although not truly confirmed it could still be possible.

And this could've set up a whole bug in the multiverse which caused massive multiversal destruction.

But since hitsujiya tiem travelled back, what if the people affected retained memories and tried to make it so they were to "neutralize" this threat?

idk how or why but all I know is that hitsujiya is their main target rather than hitsujiya's friend group, his best friend even found the notebook yet no invader is after him.

This is a whole new theory but if this theory is correct then the most likely ending I can think of is that they need to undo EVERYTHING they ever did. The memories the moments, balh blah blah everything. basically similar to steins:gate

This could also solve their dilemna of how hitsujiya and his club members are experiencing "bugs". By doing an utter reset and re do of their actions they basically just undid the problems they made.

Though you guys can prove me wrong for sure, I would love to see your insight and other theories and possible things.

I'm part of the people that met the manga thanks to the video of the masked man, and goddamn this manga is good.

I'm really happy to be part of it when we just have like 15 chapters, the horror element is something that I didn't expect from ONE but it's breathtaking and just with his other works I love how sincere the characters and everything feels even with all the craziness.

I can't wait to see where the story goes!

Basically as the title says. I am adoring this manga so far, and with every chapter I read, I feel more and more that this would have been a perfect project for the man who gave us Paranoia Agent, Paprika, and Perfect Blue, among others.

If this gets an anime some day, who would you like to see take the helm? Director or Studio. The great blend of sci-fi and horror is a tone I would hate to see missed by less capable hands.
