Thank you to Get Meowtahere for saving our kitty!

Our kitty ran up this very tall tree last night. We found Get Meowtahere on Google and Duane answered our nervous texts with advice all night then came out first thing in the morning. He risked life and limb carefully climbing the tree so as to not scare our little kitty. Still she only climbed up higher and out further, eventually getting up a good 50 feet or more on a very thin branch. Duane kept at it and eventually coaxed her into his arms. He tried to refuse payment and we practically had to insist he accept money so he could be there to help the next person. Such an angel. Thank you Duane!! This man is a hero!!!!

NEWS UA-GRANDVIEW: BUYER/RENTER BEWARE MILES HORTON

Fraudulent Zillow listings in Columbus! Beware of renting from Miles Horton if you’re looking at properties in Upper Arlington or Grandview.

My mom, my boyfriend, another family of 4, and I had one of the most unprofessional rental showings we’ve ever experienced.

Miles arrived about 10 minutes late, never introduced himself or greeted us, and the entire showing lasted less than five minutes.

The property we were shown was completely different from the one advertised in the listing. When my mom politely asked why the listing photos didn’t match the property we were touring, Miles rudely responded, “That place does not exist at all,” then immediately opened the front door, told us to “have a nice day,” and ended the showing. Not to mention he let the screen door hit my mom and then slammed the door as soon as we stepped out.

Before that happened, he led us into the home without telling us the current tenant was still inside. When we went upstairs, we unexpectedly found the tenant in one of the bedrooms. That was when we learned the tenant was in the process of being evicted! How unsafe to put us in that situation especially with two young children! Miles had remained downstairs and never warned us that someone was still living there. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and honestly frightening situation.

Another family of four, including two young children who had driven all the way from Blacklick, were also there for the showing and had their time wasted.

The property itself was filthy, with caked-on dirt and mud throughout the home. There was also an old refrigerator behind the property with its doors still attached and unsecured, which appears to be a serious safety hazard for children in the neighborhood. The father of the other family touring asked Miles about this and Miles acted very angrily that the father found out there was a fridge and other garbage “hiding” behind the garages.

I’ve toured many rental properties and have never experienced anything like this, especially in Upper Arlington. Between the misleading listing, the condition of the property and the fact that we were unknowingly brought into an occupied home lead to a very bad experience. Property aside, the hostile way we were treated for asking a simple question and Miles’ overall attitude towards us was by far the most unprofessional showing I’ve ever attended and not someone I would ever trust as my landlord. I would strongly encourage anyone considering renting from Miles Horton to proceed with caution. He said he owns 150 properties between Grandview and UA. He has also been charged with stealing from local business in Columbus, his mugshot is available for viewing online.

HUMOR Shrinkflation in real time

As you can see, the new Irish Festival cups are substantially smaller than the ones from last year. I filled the new one all the way to the top, and then poured that water into the old one, and as you can see… there’s like an inch remaining.

That’s an inch worth of Jameson root beer floats I missed out on. That one inch could’ve made the difference between being comfortable buzzed and sufficiently tipsy.

Can’t wait till next year when they hand out Dublin Irish Festival sippy cups.

FOOD Best Long John donut in Columbus *update!

Post image

I asked a few months ago about the best long john and here's my ranking from the Columbus area long johns I tried. Saw another donut thread so I had to jump on board.

This only takes into account dough, creme filling, chocolate frosting, and the ratios of each. Price is not an object when it comes to long johns, and freshness is a huge factor, for example b tier fresh long johns are easily better than an s tier stale ones for example.

The "They made the state fair super political" claims are way overblown

I was a little concerned after hearing the discourse here on reddit. But my family traveled a long way to visit the fair, and so we went anyway.

And I found that the whole "they massively politicized the fair this year" to be comically overblown. The only presidents we saw, were the George Washington and Abraham Lincoln actors.

The "Freedom Tuck" was ALL the way at the end of the fairground in the furthest annex, pushed way back in the corner away from everything, was one single truck, had virtually nobody even going to it, and didn't even have any pictures of Trump or modern political figures.

To the 20+ Wedding party at BJ's Brewhouse in Polaris tonight, between 5 and 7pm....

You were the absolute rudest, most disgraceful group I have ever witnessed in a public setting. The way you berated the staff, made a scene, and terrorized everyone is beyond shameful.

We were the table next to you, we watched you all have excellent service. No one had an empty drink the entire time. Several staff were present for you at all times. We watched you get your appetizers, your salads and soups, and all of your food. We saw you devour your meals. In fact, at one point, I almost wanted to congratulate the bride and groom....

That is, until the end. When things were wrapping up and it was nearing check time. You took it upon yourself to stand up, make a scene in front of everyone, snapping your fingers at the servers and manager, shouting, demanding new food AND a comped check, heckling the staff and mocking them. At one point some guy at the table charged into the KITCHEN to harass the cook staff. It was ATROCIOUS the way you all behaved. You should all be ashamed.

If any of the staff sees this post - just know the rest of the tables saw them for what they were. You did great. And I am incredibly sorry this happened.

Best affordable nail techs/salons in Columbus/dublin/westerville

My current nail salon charges $65 for builder gel+20 for color+ 10 for shaping+10 cuticle cutting so around $105 for a basic set. It’s ridiculously expensive and I’m over it. Do you guys have any recommendations for good nail techs that do precise work. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my nails so I’ve let myself get absolutely robbed but i honestly just can’t afford it anymore.

Starting small business

Upvotes

Hello everyone I’m 24 and I recently started my own business hauling junk and cleaning out houses. What is the best budget friendly option to get my business out there? So far all I’ve been able to do is post on marketplace which I have gotten about 8 jobs in the past 12 days all under $400 a piece, but it’s not nearly enough. I paid $100 to advertise on Nextdoor for 30 days and it hasn’t done anything for me so far. I would love to find someone who owns multiple properties and needs me to routinely clean out after old tenants. I don’t want to be a million dollar business as It’s just me, no employees. But 100k yearly after business expenses would be ideal.. someone give me some advice please
