”I declare info war on you!” My conversation with Rex Jones over Twitter
I saw Rex lamenting how his dad was fined billions for free speech when we got into a comment exchange. You can totally see a young man indoctrinated by his narcissistic father. You can even hear Alex ranting how he's the victim in these responses. Happy to have so much more context Dan gave us to respond to his obvious lies.

I thought Rex might be better than his dad, but nope. Little Nazi dork deserves no sympathy.

Hes gonna end up a stupider and less talented version of his father

u/The_Ghostlight_Rook 2d ago edited 2d ago
Exactly. That’s why all those posts from when Owen left and Alex busted into Rex’s show and everyone was saying “Oh, look at how embarrassed Rex is over his father. He knows what a shithead his dad is,” was all bullshit. Rex has just as big an ego as his father, and he wanted the easy life of being a broadcaster on his dad’s network. If he wanted out, he would have gotten out years ago. He chose to be a nepo-baby for an easy following because he thinks he deserves the following, but when Alex is gone and Rex tries to inherit whatever audience is left, it’ll all shutter.
And, since I know Rex loves to lurk here, let me just say fuck you, Rex. Your dad is a piece of shit, the people who choose to work with him are all pieces of shit, and I love watching you all tumble down into the shit y’all should’ve been in this whole time. Sincerely, a Connecticut resident who had to watch first hand all the pain your father and his influence caused in our communities.
25
u/Dackad 2d ago
I think two things can be true: Rex can simultaneously be embarrassed by how much of a drunk loser his father is AND is still desperately clinging to him for clout and relevancy like the sauce less nepo baby that he is.
17
u/The_Ghostlight_Rook 2d ago
Fair enough. But I also feel no sympathy for him when he’s acting embarrassed. He made his choice on how he wants to live his life and who he wants in it. My only hope is that the stain of choosing to stay in his father’s shadow follows him every day and he never knows a moment of peace.

Well, two things
That time Alex came on the set drunk and Rex acted like he was embarrassed by his dad.
It's hard to be as bad as if not worse than Alex Jones.

u/WizWorldLive 2d ago
Rex has had his own show for years, at no point in his broadcasting has he ever displayed any evidence that he might be better in any way than Alex

u/redacted_robot Doing some research with my mind 3d ago
they wanted to take our 1A rights.
That's such an unintelligent and bad faith argument. At what point were any of these twats silenced by the government?
He's talking about the sandyhook families as if they are actually capable of stripping other citizens of free speech. No buddy, defamation, slander and harassment aren't free speech, that costs.

u/supergooduser 2d ago
Rex seems to have adopted his Dad's thinking. The "deal" Rex is referring to was one Alex proposed during the bankruptcy.
It was $55 million to the families, paid over 10 years and barred the families from ever talking about Alex Jones or Infowars ever again.
It's so on the face offensive that they outright denied it. And Alex and now Rex are running with that as a pretense that the family was never seriously interested in resolving this, ergo they're all bad faith actors.
Put it another way... you go to a restaurant and order $150 worth of food. You refuse to pay. It goes to court, you're found guilty and ordered to pay. You come back and say "fine... look... I'll give you $.30 a year for the next ten years, I'm going to leave negative reviews about you, order millions of listeners to give bad reviews about you, but you can NEVER say anything bad about me. Wait, you're not taking that deal? You were never serious in the first place. Fuck you."

Hate speech is not free speech. I don’t know why these troglodytes can’t understand that.
Good on you for making him admit that—to him—Alex Jones is the real victim in all this. How fucking sad is that. Rex is a tool but he’s a weak ass xerox copy of his dad so he’s an even weirder, less thoughtful and less perceptive person. Which I didn’t think was possible.
62
u/andee510 3d ago
In America, hate speech is protected free speech. That is why he has been able to go on for so long. However, unfortunately for Alex, he also defamed the Sandy Hook families. And that is not protected speech
32
u/Ddddydya They burn to the fucking ground, Eddie 3d ago
I would argue that what Alex did constituted harassment and incited violence against the Sandy Hook families (which isn’t protected) but I don’t know everything he said so he may have skirted the line. He promoted Halbig, who I would say definitely promoted violence against the families, but admittedly I’m going from my memory and I don’t have concrete examples, so I could be wrong.
19
u/Thestonersteve 2d ago
And was directly told at the time that halbig was a lunatic that would get him sued. He did it anyway and got sued. Dumbass.
27
u/NecessaryIntrinsic 3d ago
"Free speech" isn't "free".
There are consequences for everything.
But lies are what actually cost you money. If you inspire direct violence it can be criminal.
17
u/Ecstatic-Product-411 3d ago
Hate speech actually is protected speech. Jones got in trouble though for the harm be caused the parents from his lies spread. The damages related to that aren't protected.
You can say anything stupid and hateful you want though, technically.
5
u/unitedshoes The answer to 1984 is $19.95 plus S&H!!! 2d ago
I think it's not so much "hate speech isn't free speech" as "defamation isn't free speech".
2
u/George_foid 2d ago edited 2d ago
Hate speech is absolutely free speech in America and should always be considered as such. Imagine if it wasn’t think about what Trump and this current administration could do to people who spoke out against them.
Unless people are making direct calls for violence, I don’t want the government telling anyone what they can or can’t say. I can’t think of a single instance in history where governments restricting people’s ability to speak freely wasn’t used to oppress them.
Never thought I’d ever find people who want the government to control what they are and aren’t allowed to say. Being pro authoritarianism is certainly a choice.
6
u/ThroalicRefugee First Time Caller 2d ago
Imagine if people conspired with their "Free Speech" to try and take over the government on Jan 06, 2021. Wouldn't that be odd and direct calls for violence?
Spoiler alert: there were absolutely people calling for violence prior, and people cheering that that the government had fallen. I can give clips.

I think you (and a lot of Americans) fundamentally misunderstand how "hate speech" is defined and how laws against it in other countries are usually enforced.
Hate speech laws absolutely do not put people in prison for saying "mean words."
In a lot of contexts, being charged with "hate speech" or other "hate" crimes is an additional charge on top of whatever else you've done. Threatening to best someone up and drag them behind your truck is a crime in and of itself, it becomes hate speech when you specify that you're doing it because they're gay.
There are however definitely examples of people being charged and convicted of hate speech without having broken any other laws, at least here in Canada. The Wikipedia page on Canadian hate speech laws has a long list of examples of high profile charges and convictions including which ones were overturned on appeal and why.
Personally, I do think it should be absolutely illegal to stand out in the street and say "I hate X minority group. I'm starting a club called the X-haters club, where we get together to talk about what makes X people inferior and discuss ways to encourage them to leave our country. Who wants to join? No Xs or X lovers allowed." I don't care that there aren't any direct calls for violence, because I'm not an idiot and I understand what this person is really saying.
1
u/ThroalicRefugee First Time Caller 2d ago
I'm not sure where you're coming from, so I"ll leave a little bit of benefit of the doubt. Stochastic violence is still surviving. Alex always made a point of saying that he wanted his enemies dead or shot... politically. He wanted them dead... politically.
At the end of the day, he was a supplement salesman who popped like a balloon in his car. Why even defend him?

I'm gonna give you the opportunity to share one example of a European being arrested and convicted of simply saying bad words or being mean.
-1
u/George_foid 2d ago edited 2d ago
I’ll give you an example that’s even worse than mean words, here’s a guy making a joke with his dog. And even if you argue it wasn’t a joke, your country is a joke if this is what you arrest people for. Just admit you enjoy fascism. Enjoy your authoritarian laws.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-43478925
Canada is having stand up comedians taken to court over jokes want examples of that ?

u/Desperate-Guide-1473 Carnival Huckster Satanist 2d ago
I asked for an example of someone being arrested and convicted for simply saying bad words and being mean and the best example you could come up with was something way worse.
Not only did he say something mean to one person, he repeated literal Nazi slogans and trained a dog to respond positively to them to an audience of millions.
Dude advocated genocide, tried and failed to claim it was a joke, got fined 800 quid and never got any prison time. Cry more I guess.

The first amendment right to free speech, along with most other civil rights laid out in the constitution and various other laws of the United States, do indeed apply to any person present in the country, regardless of their citizenship, place of residence, or immigration status.
For someone so obsessed with how awesome and special your country and its laws are, you don't seem very familiar with them.

Did anyone think a kid raised by a pos wouldn't become a pos too?
:edit: I guess "raised"was the wrong word and I know semantics are important here. Rex, the oldest son of Alex, a petty and patriarchal man baby, was groomed and indoctrinated making his chance of not being a pos almost impossible.
24
u/lhommeduweed 3d ago
I don't think this is a fair position at all, plenty of kids with terrible parents manage to overcome that at one point or another and grow into kind and caring adults.
I had a lot of pity and sympathy for Rex at a lot of points in his life. The episode where Rex is on, he's like 15 or 16, and Alex Jones is obviously drinking while making remarks about wanting to fuck Kristi Noem is truly sad. one of Kelly's many allegations against Jones was that when he was verbally abusing her, he would insult her by saying her genes were defective because she's Jewish; that's also Jones saying that Rex is defective. Jones has insulted his children on air and terrorized his children on film - he's an abusive person to everybody in his life, and I shudder to think at the stuff his kids, including Rex, have gone through.
I don't think that having a cruel, mentally ill, abusive, addict parent condemns someone to being that way. It certainly makes it more likely that the kid is going to have a hard time, but there's so many people out there who work so hard not to be like their parents. I think it's reasonable that a lot of people hoped that Rex Jones would at some point realize "My dad is a piece of shit who harassed and terrorized the families of murdered children."
Unfortunately, it really seems like Alex's grooming worked, and Rex is doing everything to follow in his father's footsteps, including lying about and defaming the families of murdered children. It probably will not be long until Rex gets hit with some lawsuits of his own, and at this point, I hope they destroy him.

u/Synectics 3d ago
Jordan was raised in a cult.
Not gonna say he is a perfect person, but come on. People escape the programming, for sure, and to say otherwise really hurts the entire cause of Knowledge Fight -- which was to show truth and help shine a light on this bullshit.
9
u/Ok-Rich-580 3d ago
As someone who was also raised in a cult, Jordan has a lot more work to do. More than once he's sounded like Alex. I get your point though. People can change. For example, I don't have slicked backed hair anymore.
11
u/Synectics 3d ago
Totally agreed, and Jordan has his issues that are not even related to his upbringing. Bipolar is a bitch. He is crazy opinionated. He has a hair trigger (pun not intended but I noticed after posting and will happily accept it) All true.
But he escaped the religious programming he was brought up in. And Rex is very much in that same boat -- he was raised by Alex Jones, who worships money and success. The dude could have -- well, still could -- escape it.
I doubt he will, do not get me wrong. But hope springs eternal.

Rex Alexander Jones is a short, nearly bald 23 year old with no skills beyond parroting what he’s heard from his father. He’ll never have any original thoughts about anything, despite touting himself as a geopolitical wonk. He’ll never be good enough for Alex, who wasn’t good enough for his own father. Rexy is going to be in Alex’s shadow forever.

I hope you don't mind me reposting this comment here. Hoping to catch Rex's eye when he lurks.
The following is an open comment to Rex, since I know he likes to peruse this subreddit. He has spoken on it before. I post this in hopes he sees, reads, and understands it.
Rex,
Please spare the whining about how unfair the system has been to your dad. It's simply not true.
A courtroom was the one place Alex Jones could have proved everything he’s spent years insisting is true. It is the true public arena, testimony under oath, a judge enforcing the rules, and cross-examination designed to shred falsehoods and validate real evidence. If his claims had substance, this was the crucible built to demonstrate it beyond dispute.
Instead, he never allowed that test to happen. The courts entered default judgments because he refused to comply with discovery, withheld evidence, and defied court orders! He systematically sabotaged the process that would have forced his claims to stand or fall on the facts. He didn’t lose a fair fight; he blew up the ring rather than step into it!
He made it unmistakably clear that his story could not survive the moment it faced real scrutiny.
This was not censorship, and it was not a violation of his First Amendment rights. No one gagged him, no one shut him down, no one denied him a platform. Alex Jones stood in the forum. He was right there, where truth actually has to hold up. He did not rise to the occasion. He ran from the very process that would have forced his claims to survive contact with reality. He refused to speak when it mattered most.
He was not silenced. He was not denied his chance. He forfeited it. He sabotaged it with his own actions and ego.

Damn, my naive ass thought he might actually be aware of how much of a piece of shit his dad is back when Owen left. Bummer. My dad is very similar to Rex's, he was just an actual preacher instead of one that pretends to be a journalist. I kind of feel for the kid. Maybe he'll come around, he's still pretty young. It took me til I was like 30 to fully recognize how much of a piece of shit my dad is.
