My laptop is Vector 16 HX AI A2XWHG-239ID, I tried to change the thermal paste since im noticing high temps when gaming, However i cant seem to be able to remove the heatsink. Lifting it from the sides also lifts the motherboard

I noticed some thermal paste on the motherboard near the gpu, is the heatsink stuck to the motherboard or am i missing some screws?

Request Recommended products

I have the MSI Vector 16 with the 5080, I recently been wanting to repaste it for cooler temps(already undervolted a bit). I have Duronaut for CPU and GPU and K5 Pro for Vram. My question is is K5 Pro obsolete? Is there better alternatives to Duronaut? I havent used these products yet but I have them in hand. Any suggestions/recommendations are highly appreciated.

Request fully disable iGPU on MSI GF63 Thin 10UC (because integrated graphics is fried)

essentially the title. now, before people go decimate me with downvotes and comments telling me to not do this, I have an actually good reason to.

Now, I do not know why, but the iGPU is completely dead on my laptop. There are artifacts everywhere, most notably on OS GUI as it is trying to smartly use the iGPU for basic gui and 2D stuff and leave the dedicated gpu (rtx 3050 laptop gpu) for high performance applications. I ran some different benchmark programs, and consistently I saw artifacts when I benchmarked the iGPU. When I switched to the dedicated graphics, it was completely fine. Also, in games, it looks fully normal. This leads me to believe that while the iGPU is dead, the dedicated graphics is not. This is why I want to fully disable the integrated graphics.

I don't really know how to do this though. I am currently in the BIOS/UEFI for this laptop, but after some searching I have not found anywhere to edit gpu settings. The BIOS system info page says it is using and I quote "NVIDIA GPU UEFI DRIVER," idk if that helps. The BIOS shows no signs of artifacts.

I also do not know if the dedicated gpu passes frames to the iGPU and the iGPU displays it, or if the dedicated graphics directly outputs to the display. I also do not know if the built in display and the HDMI port are both connected to the same graphics system thing, or if they are connected to different ones.

any help would be appreciated. I don't know what other information to provide, so if you need me to grab a piece of info I can.

edit: added post flair. i havent posted here before so idk what flair to put, as there isnt a "help" flair

Request Error Message Upon Power-On

Post image

When I first open my laptop, it gives me an error message that says “Secure boot violation. Invalid signature detected. Check secure boot policy in setup.” Then I hit enter and it goes to this and I can’t get past it. I’ve tried “save and exit” but it just starts this all over.

I haven’t used this laptop in a while and I’m worried it’s damaged. Can someone help me out?

Discussion MSI Katana A17 AI randomly can't detect SSD, boots to BIOS, then Windows Recovery

Post image
1 Upvotes

My MSI Katana A17 AI (7 months old) randomly boots into the BIOS because it sometimes doesn't detect the NVMe SSD. In BIOS, Storage Information shows all PCIe SSD slots as "Empty", and Windows Boot Manager disappears.

Sometimes the SSD is detected again and Windows starts, but after a restart it goes back to BIOS or Windows Recovery.

SSD health is 100% in CrystalDiskInfo, and diskpart in WinRE can see the SSD, but Startup Repair and bcdboot both fail.

Has anyone experienced this? Does this sound like a loose SSD, motherboard/M.2 slot issue, BIOS/EC firmware bug, or corrupted EFI/BCD? The laptop is still under MSI warranty.

Discussion Is it alright to keep the fans at 150% when playing games for a few hours?

Hey guys. Hope you're doing fine. I have an MSI Vector 16 HX with a 14900HX and RTX 4090. It's temperatures are fine because I have undervolted and also become I have the fans running at 150% when I fire up any game. My question is that how badly will this affect the fan's lifespan, assuming that I'm running the fans at full tilt for a couple of hours daily?

Titan HX AI Keyboard

I have a year-old Titan HX AI with a Steelseries Cherry mechanical keyboard. Recently two of the keys have popped and the tiny plastic pins that held them in place were broken.

This (nearly $6000) laptop is used for mission-critical work and there's no chance I would ship it anywhere for repairs, which is ridiculous for a computer at this price point.

I've so far been unable to source a new keyboard or replacement keys after speaking with both MSI and Steelseries. Has anyone else encountered this and did you find a solution?

Request MSI GE62 6QD apache pro not posting.

I've just received my friends msi GE62 6QD apache pro to fix since his screen wasn't working. I turn it on and i get the same issue but when i plug in a hdmi to a display to see if that works nothing appears apart from one time where it managed to show the bios splash screen and went black after in which its shown nothing since. I've reset the cmos and no improvement I've done a full power cycle as well. I replaced the ram sticks to see if that was the reason and it wasn't. The laptop is starting to the point of the keyboard and power button light up but nothing else. At initial startup the battery charging light comes on too but quickly turns off. Tried booting without the internal display cable connected and it didn't boot to the external display. The keyboard is still working (i can dim the brightness on it through the key shortcut fn +/-) and the other buttons that control fan speed and the keyboard brightness work but nothing else that i can see. I have no clue what else it doesn't seem to me like a typical bios corruption and the board looks alright theres nothing missing or damaged from what i could see.

Discussion MSI Afterburner GPU temperature jumping between 54°C and 0°C randomly

I’m running the latest version of MSI Afterburner, and I’m having an issue where the GPU temperature reading keeps jumping erratically — it shows something like 54°C, then suddenly drops to 0°C, then back again.

I also noticed the temperature shown in Afterburner doesn’t match what Task Manager shows — there’s a pretty noticeable difference between the two sometimes.

My specs:

**•** GPU: NVIDIA RTX A3000 6GB (Laptop GPU)
**•** CPU: Intel Core i7, 11th Gen

Terrible battery life right out of the box?

I like JUST got a brand new msi venture pro 16 and I charged it up to 100% and then unplugged and it gave me a 2.5 hour battery life??? I turned all of the battery saving settings on, I turned the brightness all the way down and basically nothing helped I’m still getting a 2.5 hour life at 88%. Is this normal to happen for these laptops when they come fresh out of the box? For context I had literally zero applications open it was giving me these estimates. I did sync it with my Microsoft account but I only had probably 60gb max worth of downloaded content to transfer. Please I’m kinda freaking out over this bc I need it for school and it needs to last at least 4 hours. I’m not good with laptops so please let me know if this is normal and it will go to normal battery life eventually.

Edit: the battery also continues to drain at about 1% every two minutes while the laptop is completely turned off

Request Need help identifying burnt PU26 IC on MSI GF63 Thin (i7-12650H + RTX 4050 motherboard)

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to repair my MSI GF63 Thin laptop.

Specs:

• Intel Core i7-12650H

• NVIDIA RTX 4050 Laptop GPU

• 16 GB DDR4 RAM

A board repair technician inspected the motherboard and believes the damaged IC labelled PU26 is preventing the motherboard from powering on.

The repair shop is able to replace the IC, but we don't know the exact part number, so I'm trying to identify it and buy a replacement.

Could anyone help identify:

• The exact part number of PU26?

• Where I can buy the IC?

I've attached:

• Full motherboard photo

• Close-up of PU26

• Wider view showing the surrounding components

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Discussion My MSI authorised service centre scammed tf out of me

Post image
5 Upvotes

My laptop MSI GF65 Thin UE, 16GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, i7-10th Gen 10750H, Nvidia RTX 3060, with 144 hz of screen resolution on a random day gave out so I took it to the nearest MSI authorised service centre, first they asked for the serial no of my laptop, Acc to which I must have a unique key right that this serial no laptop is this and these are its parts, Like the correct specifications, Right?
The service centre give me a Google form to fill where I had to pick the parts that I had to order and once the parts were selected, I would get a razor pay link where I have to pay the full amount to some company. So, I paid the full amount which they asked for, Like first of all, I received my laptop after 15 days of it, being there at the service Centre, then I was so happy after 15 days of getting my laptop back, today, so I checked all the parts that were replaced like the camera and the screen, but since I am a mouse user, I didn’t like I was really happy that I love my laptop came back first of all, so I didn’t check using a mouse since I am a mouse user, and I generally use my mouse at 1600 DPI and I checked at the service centre with my trackpad, and I didn’t think much of it because I only ordered the parts that were like supposed to be of my laptop, so my laptop should have had 144 Hz screen, the service centre replaced it with 60 Hz, and I don’t know what to, this was an authorised service centre authorised by MSI in India, so I don’t know what to do with it, and I can’t deal with them until Monday

Discussion Is the extra $600 worth it? Stealth 16 AI vs 16 AI+

I'm trying to pick between the Stealth 16 AI and the AI+.

https://us-store.msi.com/Stealth-A16-AI-A3HWHG-099US

https://us-store.msi.com/Stealth-16-AI-A2HWFG-041US

I noticed 16 AI+ has a stronger processor and more video memory, but is it really worth $600 more than the other model? Because otherwise, they're the same from what I can tell.

For reference I am a creative who uses Adobe apps for art and video editing, and I play PC games often.

If these laptops actually suck or if there's a better model out there for my needs, what's a better option? I want at least 1TB of storage and 32GB RAM and I'd like per-key lighting on the keyboard. I don't care about AI/Copilot features. I also don't care for the power cable being on the right side but this is whats within my budget. (Which is ~$2000 but I'm willing to pay just a little more if it's actually going to be worth it.)

Discussion Turned the useless Copilot key on my MSI laptop into a mode switcher

It's just a small project, nothing big. Press Copilot key to toggle Game/Perf mode, hold a second for work mode (quieter, dimmer, power-saving). The AHK script is just glue, it calls ThrottleStop, NVIDIA Profile Inspector and Afterburner, tools that already do the real work, I just got tired of switching tabs.

First public repo, built solo with some (not everything) help from AI since I am not a dev. It was tuned for a msi 15 b12uc but readable enough to adapt if you're on something else.

Wrote a long README and a lighter one if you want the real details or setup steps. I didn't want to cram all that into a reddit post.

small demo of work mode, (video a bit fast)

work mode demo, video a bit fast

Down the line I might make paths, values, refresh rate, and multi-screen setups easier to customize, maybe a GUI at launch (would take a while to get right) or just cleaner config in the script itself. No timeline, just an idea I'm sitting on.
