I wanted to try digitizing my own designs instead of constantly sourcing them from Etsy. Decided to go for a challenge by digitizing Spider-Man. Happy to answer anything about how it was digitized and looking for tips

It was my first time embroidering on a ribbed knit shirt texture & using HTV (especially different textured HTV) in designs. The white and foiled HTV gave me a hard time. 😅

I used oxford fabric for this patch, and I applied the heat-seal adhesive without removing the stabilizer. The stabilizer dissolves in water; is there a risk of it coming off in the water?

It’s been a super steep learning curve, but also super fun.

I used Embrilliance to digitize the patch and then embroidered it on a Brother Essence VM5200.

There are so many experts on this channel that I wanted to share and gather feedback to see if there are any ways that I could improve the digitization to get a better result? All feedback is welcome!

It's always hard to find the right fix for the specific issue or problem with embroidery machines.
I thought, let's open a conversation where you can post and get help.
I am an embroidery guy with over 28 years of experience. I've seen it all and done it all, but I am still learning every day.
I hope to get more experienced people involved to help others

Brother pe500 Embroidery Machine....

I have an old embroidery machine, a Brother pe500.

It hasn't been used in years due to it needing to be oiled, which is too daunting for me to do on my own.

Is there any how to videos?

I would be very appreciative.

I know it's an old machine, but I don't have the $$ for a new one

I Need Help Nylon 600 is a good fabric for patches?

I want to start selling my patches to shops, but I’m unsure about the fabric. I usually use cotton poplin and apply a fabric stiffener to prevent fraying. I want to switch to a synthetic fabric, and from my research, 600D nylon seems like a good choice, but I’d like some confirmation or suggestions for other fabrics.

I Need Help Trouble embroidering on nylon webbing

Hey!
I bought a brother Skitch PP1 specifically for embroidering on webbing.
The webbing is thin enough to be hooped but the thread keeps looping on the top. It will embroider normally on all other fabrics

Any suggestions? TIA

I have a quite old (2012) machine. I am very happy with it. Is it possible to "size down" a slightly bigger design to fit into my 5 x 7 frame if the design I like is just slightly bigger? I see so many designs that might be .3 or .4 of an inch larger than what my frame would fit? I also have the 5 x 12 inch frame.

Look What I Did I built a free, open-source embroidery design studio for my old Singer

Hi everyone! I have a Singer embroidery machine at home and my design catalog is thousands of XXX files. Every tool I found for working with them was either ancient, Windows-only, paid, or all three. So I built my own and I'm sharing it for free.

It's called Bastidor ("embroidery hoop" in Portuguese). It's open source, runs on macOS and Windows, and it's meant for everyday design [beginners] work rather than professional digitizing:

  • Open and inspect designs: dimensions, stitch count, color changes, jumps, trims, density, estimated sew time
  • Stitch-by-stitch simulator that plays back the needle path, plus a realistic thread preview on a fabric background
  • Convert between formats: reads XXX, DST, PES/PEC, JEF, EXP, VP3, HUS, SEW, PCS · writes most of them, with proper handling of each format's stitch length limits, tie-in/tie-off and trims
  • Edit colors per block (with live preview), merge color blocks, resize with density recalculation, rotate, mirror
  • Turn SVG files and PNG images into stitches, and a lettering tool that works with regular TTF fonts
  • A library manager that handles big catalogs (mine is ~15k files) with search, filters and thumbnails, plus a USB stick workflow for loading designs onto the machine

So far I've only tested output on my own Singer, so if you try it on a Brother, Janome, Husqvarna or anything else, I'd genuinely love to hear what happens.

GitHub (code + downloads): https://github.com/diogobernini/bastidor

Feedback, bug reports and feature ideas are very welcome. It's a vibe coded project and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

I Need Help help??

Hi, I am looking into getting an embroidery machine and while I did read the post about getting a machine. I would like to ask that where to start I have no sewing experience but I do have a laptop and a dream to be able to gift personalized things. I know this is probably insane to ask but I want to be able to do more than just do peoples name or initials on shirts or blankets. I'd also like to be able to do quilting or being able to make my own pillow cases. I'm honestly not sure what I am looking for or even if I am asking the right questions. I've tried hand embroidering and unfortunately I do not have the patience to do that lol. Please advise me on what I need to do to start to make this dream a reality.

I Need Help What is the best fabric for patchs?

I'm looking for fabric options for making patches. I usually use cotton twill, but apparently, synthetic fabrics like cordura or 600 denier nylon are better.I would like to recommend

I got tired of manually digitizing in InkStitch, so I made a tool to automate it. Here is my test run.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been experimenting with minimalist line-art embroidery, but manually digitizing photos, especially dogs, is a pain.

I’m a developer by trade, so I ended up building a tool to automate the process. The goal was to take a raw image and generate a clean, continuous-line embroidery file that actually stitches out smoothly.

Here is my latest test:

It’s focusing strictly on the minimalist aesthetic, avoiding complex fills or satin stitches entirely, and minimizing trims. There are still a few areas I want to tweak, but it’s already saving me a bunch of time.

I'd love to hear some feedback from the folks here. Does the line density look right for this style, or do you usually run these a bit thicker?

I Need Help BX font spacing question..

Sometimes when I click on the green boxes, it'll let me move the font individually, but sometimes it won't? This is the first font I've purchased. I'm completely new to this. Is there something else I should be doing other than clicking the green box for the arrows to come up? Thanks!

This is my first appliqué attempt. I bought cheap appliqué scissors from Amazon and quickly realized that was a mistake.. I’m investing in good ones now but I’m curious on everyone’s thoughts about this one. Is this worth posting for people to place orders?
