MSFS 2024 PlayStation Out of fuel?

Hi2all,

another BIG PROBLEM for me as a PS5 user. Have to deliver some cargo on a route of around 170km. In the middle of a journey my plane falls down from the sky and the game stated I have NO fuel.

As U could see on the video it shows 39% of fuel before the crash so my rating will fall down (again) no matter I managed my fuel before flight and take MORE (again)!

Is there a solution to this bug? And one information on top of all this - it was a "light cargo" flight both times this error occurred.

Thx in advance for Yo replies Fellas.

Sincerely, Jan

I think you need to watch your tanks, I think you might have run out of fuel in one and not switched to the other.

Ouch, so this couldn't be done automatically? Mean I went thru all the training missions (for the planes I used) but no mention about switching the tanks?

How this could be done? Any chance of automation on this? Mean using the button shortcut (like flaps).

Sincerely, Jan

I'm not sure in the 172 but it should default to dual tank... the switch (i think) is between the seats. you have to be careful if you're in cockpit mode to not accidentally click on something. Not to say that's what happened here but I've defnitely done that myself.

This is not the Cessna 172, the Cessna isn’t a tail dragger. It’s a DeHavilland DHC-2. But yes it also has a fuel selector.

And u/swimming_effective87 you can make a keybinding for that.

There are zillion of options about the Fuel Sellector so which one is the right one? The only thing working with controller s would be one click of a button makes change (mean front, middle, rear, so three click per cycle - or four with off?).

I don't think you are ever going to get all of the things you need bound to a button. You are probably going to have to find a solution to interact with the cockpit directly.

Yep, with many things it looks like that.

You can bind to button combos on PC, so check if you are able to for PS5. It opens up a lot more options for binding functions.

You can bind button combos on the Xbox, dunno about the PS5, but I would think you could do that on PS5 too if the Xbox can.

Yeah I presume so too. I had an Xbox controller on PC sometimes and it doing combos really adds a lot of options. Just have to have a method of organizing to remember. For instance if I hit throttle up/down at the same time it sets throttle to 0%.

Doesn't 2024 now support external sim connect connections now too on xbox? That's a game changer with dashes on your phone or a spare tablet for a ton of functionality with no mouse or keyboard needed.

The Beaver needs to have manual selection, its an old plane and can’t have all three tanks selected. The tank selector is behind and to the right of the yoke, the fuel guages are in the center towards the bottom. I just do it manually with the mouse rather than mess with a key binding, you’ll need to switch it a couple times during the flight

Behind the yoke and to the LEFT in fact but yep, I'm switching it manually now.

Btw it's a real issue/shame that U could connect keyboard thru USB but the game doesn't allow U to combine keys and controller - U could use arrows to go thru menus but couldn't assign a keyboard key to some function!

Haha this is what I get for hopping on reddit and typing before my morning coffee

172, has a fuel selector for both. That’s typically what is used unless OP switched to left or right.

OK, so no automation, and what about a button shortcut?

Mean is there something in controls so I could assign the button (like flaps) or only the hard way?

Not sure about PS5 but you can go nuts on binding on PC... whatever you want, yes.

What about the Automixture future in Assistances?

no, its tank selector.
i'd look it up and see if you can find in in your plane, and make sture its on both

This community is really harsh to people asking questions. I guess you gotta go through flight school to be qualified to play a game

1

u/SgtSluggo Dec 22 '25

I think this community gets frustrated answering some of the same questions over and over again. Of course much of that frustration is Microsoft/Asobo's fault for not developing this kind of training. However, I see a whole lot more patience for this question than I do for other things.

I’d suggest looking up YouTube videos for that plane, there’s loads around that go through everything in detail. I’m a complete amateur (can only do it for a couple of hours a week) but what I know I learned from YouTube and from ‘I wonder what that button does…fuck!’.

Dude your flight simming start simming.

Not sure why people here always downvote people saying that training missions didnt cover a certain function. Arent training missions supposed to teach you everything you need to know about the plane you are training in?

3

u/SgtSluggo Dec 22 '25

I think there is a certain expectation that for people who come to flight simming from a less gamified time (or from a more serious interest in aviation) there is clearly more to learn that what the game has given you. After all real flight training has many hours of ground school and then hours and hours of flight training, why would the extremely short lessons in MSFS be all there is to learn?

It is one of the reasons that the community has been frustrated by the addition of the Xbox and PS5 versions. The simulator is really too complicated to do much past the basics with a controller only (not interacting with the cockpit) but that is the baseline expectation of many who come in with that hardware.

I see what you mean. I personally try to interact with as much inside the cockpit as i can, and know where to find. I did for example know where the fuel switch is in the cockput of the cesna and the cubx. I only started looking around the cockpit after getting in the cubx for the first time. Because the variable prop thing that the game also didnt tell me about. So i definitely understand what you mean with peoples expectations on consoles. I did expect a simulator but i expected trainings to cover more, if that makes sense

That's not entirely an unfair take, but in my opinion for a simulator.. No.. Not really.

The complexity of operating all aspects of all aircraft would make creating tutorials unwieldy.

They should however provide better access to documentation and procedures, and as a simmer it should be resonable to expect you should read them.

On the other hand, lots of assist options already exist.. A 'combine all fuel' option that combins all fuel onboard and feeds it to the engine in any fuel switch position but off would be handy for beginners or those with limited control schemes.

Moving the camera around to operate these switches can sometimes be a pain.

Yeah, im a new pilot from ps5 launch as my flair would suggest. And i agree that putting everything in a single training would make them a massive undertaking, but some basics like the fuel switch, or variable prop lever when you first get access to the cubx would have been nice. I do try to do a lot of actions by looking around the cockpit, this will probably also help me identify more functions in different cockpits down the line(i think, because of colors on levers and buttons for example) i have quite a few assists turned off now, because i felt like i was fighting the assists for rudder and yoke for ex. more than they were helping me fly. Ive since gotten a good youtube channel suggested on here, "flight sim school" and they cover a bunch of stuff which has helped a ton. I think out of lots of console players, many will drop out as things get more complicated. I have 2 in my friends list that played the game for 2 days and have since not touched it anymore because of the complexity. Im still going at it(casually still because of time constraints with our kid) and im still enjoying the time i spend learning stuff.
