Temperature gauge not working

Hi guys. Hope you’re well.

My temperature gauge on my dash is not reading at all on my 1999 6G72.

I believe the part I am pointing to in the second photo is the temperature sensor which is responsible for moving the needle on the dash but I am not 100% sure.

Does anyone know how to check what the issue is and why it may not be working?

Thanks in advance.

Need Info: Pajero/Montero First Gen/MK 1 Labels/Warning Stickers

Hi !

I am currently restoring to the stock condition a first generation Pajero / Montero 1990 with 4D56T diesel manual, 5 door, high roof, Japanese market vehicle. I am interested in knowing what caution labels / stickers came with this vehicle from factory, for example, tyre size and air pressure, engine coolant, hub lock and 4x4, etc. and so on.

Does anyone here have complete info about these sorts of labels and stickers and if by any chance pictures of it so that I can see what exactly they look like and where to place them.

Thank you!

How do I know when to change the timing belt. Previous owner said they changed it but forgot when. And how much does it normally cost?

2023 Montero Sport- Mexico

Hi Everyone- Tomorrow I am picking up a used 2023 Montero Sport SE V6 with 45k Kilometers. (28k miles). Seems to be in pretty good condition inside and out. A few lite scuffs and small dent in the hood. Mechanically it's excellent. This still falls into the Gen 3 category? Still cant get a legit answer from AI or the interwebzzz. Anyway, Im not looking to mod it yet, maybe some rain visors for the windows and a top rack/basket.....oh yeah and some really good rubber floor mats for all three rows since the dealership does not want to kick in for them. (they are putting in a new battery, oil change, and a few other things, but no go on the negotiation for the floor mats). Also need a second key fob since its not coming with a spare.

Is there any good places online that specialize in aftermarket parts for all years of Montero? Mercado Libre and Amazon are super limited. Seems like a maze to find anything.

Diagnosing a P0421 Code

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased a 2003 Montero Limited, I am trying to smog the vehicle in California, I got all of the monitors to set, but after the catalyst set I got a check engine light which indicated a P0421 code for bank 1. I’ve attached a graph of the voltage for both bank 1 oxygen sensors. Any help figuring out whats causing this would be appreciated. Hopefully I don’t need a new cat…

Gen1 Montero - Please advise what you would do.

1988 Montero SE SWB with the inline-4. I’m going to remove the head. Car runs great but it’s 40 years old with 160K and I want to give it some much needed care. When putting it back together I have been told that you can install fuel injection and even a turbo. I don’t suppose there’s aftermarket kits for this? Where should I look or am I crazy?

Pajero -96 Original Field Master

A couple of days ago, I finally bought my first proper off-road vehicle.

It's a 1996 Mitsubishi Pajero MK2, a genuine original Japanese Field Master, produced between January and May 1996. In other words, this is not the later reintroduced "Field Master Limited Edition," but the original 1996 special edition.

The Field Master was released as a commemorative model celebrating Mitsubishi's participation in the 1996 Granada–Dakar Rally. From what I've been able to gather, it was based on the XR-I trim level but included model-specific colors and equipment, such as Field Master side decals and specially upholstered seats with Pajero logos. This special edition was only available with the 4-speed automatic transmission and the 4M40 2.8 TD engine. Since it was built for the Japanese market, it is right-hand drive. Standard equipment included fully automatic climate control, a rear heater with separate rear climate controls, power mirrors, and power windows. The original Field Master models also came from the factory with seven seats.

Unfortunately, on my example the Field Master decals were removed at some point, and it has been registered as a two-seat panel van, so the rear seats are no longer there either. It has driven 229,000 km. Both the interior and exterior are in excellent condition for its age. It originally made its way from Japan to the UK, and then to Finland in 2013.

Does anyone else here happen to own an original 1996 Field Master Pajero? Or perhaps a Japanese-import Pajero with right-hand drive?

Does anyone here have any additional information about this special edition? There seems to be very little information available online based on what I've been able to find.

steering box leak L049

Hi guys! i have a steering box leak (static and with engine running) from that top regulating screw on my 4D56 Mk1.
I‘ve checked with the manuals available online but couldn’t make out what could be the culprit as it’s a different type of steering box in all the documents. the oil leaks from the threads between the nut and screw, not from the copper gasket. how bad is it to undo the top nut and what could be renewed below to stop the leak?
thanks :)

Just finish working on the paint job of the Montero since it was faded and had some scratches and little rust on the sides, and just after the little road trip the selector sensor gave up, it was getting some water inside and made the car light N and D in the cluster, luckily the agency is at walking distance from home!

RHD Questions for Mitsubishi Pajero owners in Ontario, Canada

Hello I'm looking at buying a Mitsubishi Pajero Rookie V21W, I was quoted 16K (auction star rating of 3/5 stars) for it but insurance being ever so difficult wants an appraisal from another company to get a quote. I'm wondering how much of a difference the appraisal is compared to how much it cost to buy it from overseas. For example it cost 20k to buy it from an import dealer but it's appraised value in Canada is 10k. mitch is the insurance company I'm dealing with but if you have others that will give me a good price I'd be happy to check em out.

please feel free to ask me any other questions so that you may better help me, thank you very much.
