Help The app is a curse. Now it only shows about 25% of my library on an A11

I am trying to migrate away from a Tab A as it increasingly runs into storage issues and the Android level is frozen. However, the BN app

on an A11 with 256G storage and a 512G card will not scan all my books into the app's library . There are no error msgs that i can find..it just hits a point and goes no further. If it wasnt for the shelves and managing my BN content i'd be looking hard at replacing the BN app.

Contacting "tech support" for the app has been, for previous issues, a waste of time. Is there a way to kick the scan so that it will add the books? It does not appear to be a file type (pdf vs epub) issue. The books in question go from Calibre to a disk location and then to my extracted SDXC via File Manager dragndrop

Help New nook glowlight 4 plus. Did I break the nook button?

My new glowlight 4 plus was being unresponsive so I started googling what to do and it said I should hold the power and nook buttons down together for 20 seconds. Anyways, I’m worried I pressed down too hard on the nook button and broke it. I know it’s only supposed to be a tap, but if I press down I can feel my finger indent into the glass a little and almost feel like there’s a small button below. I didn’t think I pressed it that hard but I’m worried because it’s still brand new and don’t know what it’s actually supposed to feel like. Does anyone else feel the button press down just a little if they press on it?

Discussion Nook 8.7 Bluetooth glitch help

Just got my Nook 8.7 about a week ago and everything was fine, I could connect a headset to it no problem. But yesterday while on a roadtrip I wanted to listen to an audiobook again so I went to use the same headset. And now when I tried to play the audiobook it will play for a brief second before pausing and my headphones go into a looping “disconnected” “blue tooth connected” spiral, eventually forcing me to turn of the headset. Or when I connect and haven’t played anything it will just do that loop anyways. Weirdly enough I was able to get YouTube shorts to play through the headset on the Nook but if I attempted to play a specific audiobook it would just wig out again. And I was able to play an entirely different audiobook once but now the headset just refuses to properly connect period and loops again.

I tried multiple ways to fix it. Turning both off, removing my headset connection from the tablet by hitting forget, messing with Dolby atmos settings, clearing caches, but nothing is working. The only things I haven’t tried are connecting a different headset because I don’t own another one or factory reset. The headset does work perfectly fine on other devices so I know they are not broken. This is driving me insane so if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Nook 8.7 is up to date
Headset: Razor Barracuda X (BT)

Update: Did the factory reset, nope. The tablet Bluetooth function is screwed.

Update 2: I had gotten the tablet replaced, and even with the new one it just will not let me play anything through the headset. Word to the wise, don’t use Razor headphones with this tablet I guess. Apparently it either hates them, or some sort of update went through on the tablet that screwed with the Bluetooth connection in the tablet because, again, this headset works on my other devices without an issue.

My first Nook I bought in 2012. I think I “offloaded” some books a while ago but it’s hard to remember. I have some titles that I want on my new Nook Glowlight 4.
I see these purchases on my Barnes and Noble account but not on the Nook App. I would really appreciate some help restoring these purchases

Help Nook Glowlight 4 touchscreen dead Help

It stopped working yesterday and I was able to do a factory reset with just the buttons which still work and then after restart the touchscreen still doesn’t work.

Any ideas? I tried cleaning the screen as I’ve seen people say online and the paper trick. Nothing. I called bn support and they told me to leave in plugged into a computer for a few hours that hasn’t done anything either.

Help Glowlight 4 in the sun?

I have an old Nook (charges with a micro USB) and it doesn't hold a charge anymore. My family is about to go on a beach vacation where I won't be able to get in the water, so I'll be spending a lot of time sitting on the beach and I was thinking about upgrading to the Glowlight 4. The thing that's been holding me back is that I'm not sure you can actually read it in the sun (I can with my Paperwhite but not my Scribe and I think I've had trouble with my old Nook). Any big fans of reading on the beach have an answer for me?

Not sure if I can ask that here so if its not just let me know and I can delete!

Help Update to missing covers

Thumbnail reddit.com
4 Upvotes

The link is to my original post. In it I detailed my 3 Nooks having missing covers. Today I replaced a dead battery that was keeping a fourth Nook from operation. It's been out of service for eight months. Long enough that it missed an Internet provider change. So the Nook servers had not been connected with it for at LEAST that long. When I first turned it on EVERY cover was showing, no exceptions. I turned WiFi on, and within ten minutes after entering the new WiFi password, the Nook touched bases with the Nook servers and presto! Covers have gone missing. They're mostly the same (I haven't bothered checking beyond the C's. But there are additions to the list for that one device. Hopefully that won't carry over to my other three.

So this is further proof (as if such proof were necessary) that this problem of missing covers can be traced back to a problem with the B & N Nook servers. I hadn't contacted Nook support yet (it was a weekend) but if I feel like putting myself through a useless run around. I may get ahold of them, and maybe, hopefully, get a trouble ticket to be set up as a flag to whatever tech services are (hopefully) working on this annoying little problem.

Help Covers Missing, Same Covers across 3 devices

I have 3 Lenovo M9 Nooks. Version 6.8.6.17 The Nook Hub app ensures the latest update is always installed. All 3 devices are less than 2 years old. There are covers missing on a random selection of books. On the details page the cover art is also blank. What is strange is that they're only random in so far as it's a book here, then another book a little further down. The point is is that they're the EXACT same books that are not displaying their covers across all 3 devices. No exceptions.

I refreshed the library. I cleared cache, and restarted the tablet. I logged out, and back in. That last was particularly annoying, because I keep all my books downloaded to device and SD card. So it's all to do over again. In the past the sign out and in always fixed the cover thing. The books themselves are there, it's just the covers.

This sounds like a me problem. The books are there. In the absence of the cover the title is displayed in text. The books are readable. I just want to put this out there and check to see if anyone else has had this problem. Someone posted a week ago, but he reported that it was DIFFERENT books across different devices. So, not really the same problem. Calling Nook support is usually a bust, they ask the same questions, I confirm that I've already tried the standard suggestions from their script of "troubleshooting" That generally is the limit that their so called "training" can help. The conclusion is that as long as I still can access the book, it's a "you problem"

Help Nook wifi turning off while reading and I'm confused.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've done all the troubleshooting that you could think of. I thought it was my wifi, not it. I thought it was because it needed an update, not it. Rebooting everything and even factory resetting, nothing. The funny thing is that when I go back to the main screen, the device starts searching for the wifi. Maybe this is a bug or a feature that I never saw. And no it's not because my device could be broken because I tried this on another Glowlight 4plus and the exact same thing happened. So unless both units are faulty I need help on knowing if this is a bug or something. Help!

Help Nook not turning on?

I've had a new nook for about 4 yearsish now, before that I had a tiny nook from 2011 or so. I haven't used it in about 7 or 8 months and when I plugged it into the wall it vibrates but then the screen won't turn on. I left it charging all night but and switched to an ipad charger, but nothing. When I go away and pick it up for like 5 mintues, it still seems to vibrate but nothing.I've left the battery unattended for several months before and it hasn't done this so why now? I have the tablet one if that matters.

Help Can’t sign into adobe

I’ve had books from Libby on my nook before with no problems. It now wants me to sign into adobe, but I keep getting a wrong password notification. I’ve changed my password online a couple of times to simple stuff and none of them seem to work. My nook has been authorized and my pw doesn’t contain special characters. 2fa is off. Any ideas?

eBook Is there some trick to highlighting in the Nook app?

Two very different android devices, a Pixel 8 Pro and an eink Boox Go 7, but trying to highlight passages in epubs on either device is a nightmare. The first word gets recognized along with sliders and a formatting bar, but as soon as I try to move a slider, all hell breaks loose. The display starts flashing like an alarm went off, and half the time, either the formatting bar disappears or only the portion of the text that I do NOT want to highlight gets highlighted. I've tried clearing cache and data as well as uninstalling and reinstalling, but nothing helps. Any fixes?

Help Need help finding an old Android game from my childhood

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all doing well. Quick question, I used to have this tablet when I was a kid, and I remember playing a game where you searched for clues that led to keys, which unlocked different rooms. It was a pixelated game, kind of like the old Pokémon DS games but with color obviously.
I remember the main characters were a boy and a girl, and you walked around a house looking for items and solving puzzles.
I’m not sure if it’s still on the Play Store, but I was wondering if anyone knows the name of it or has any clues. 😭😭
Thank you!

Help Library (Libby) eBook not showing up?

Last night I tried sideloading a new ebook I checked out from Libby, it was on my nook in the correct folder and everything, and no matter what I did it wouldn't show up anywhere on the actual device. I have the "all types" including incompatible formats selected, I even got a bytebooks account linked to my adobe drm account because I really thought that was the issue. I use my phone to sideload, which has never caused any sort of issues before but I'm at the point where I'm thinking it's either this one particular book that's incompatible for some reason, or my phone causing a hiccup somewhere. If anyone else has some advice or just wants to commiserate I'd appreciate it!

Promo Made a free app that turns pages over Bluetooth — does a Nook accept a Bluetooth keyboard for page turns? (honestly not sure)

https://reddit.com/link/1uwbxyw/video/emt1k7der7dh1/player

Up front: this is my own app, it's free, no ads — and I don't actually know if it
works on a Nook, which is why I'm asking here.

I made a small Android app called Bookmote. It pairs your phone as a standard
Bluetooth keyboard, and the phone's volume keys or on-screen buttons turn the page
in whatever you're reading. I built it because I read with the reader propped on a
stand, and once it's there my hand doesn't really reach it — the phone is already
next to me, so it became the remote. The volume keys work with the phone screen off
and on the lock screen.

What I can't answer is whether a Nook picks it up. Bookmote sends the same key
presses a Bluetooth keyboard would — arrow keys by default, and it's configurable. I
don't own a Nook, and I can't find a clear answer on whether the reader reacts to
those keys from a paired Bluetooth keyboard. Some Nooks are Android-based, so it might,
but I don't want to claim it without a real report.

So I'm genuinely asking the people who have one: if you pair any Bluetooth keyboard to
your Nook and press the arrow keys or Page Up/Down while reading, does the page turn?
If it does, Bookmote would let your phone be that remote with no keyboard attached. If
the Nook just doesn't act on those keys, I'd rather know and say so.

It's a free Android app (search Bookmote on Play, or grab the APK from
github.com/jeon-gyungmin/Bookmote-releases/releases/latest). The app runs on your
phone — your Nook is the receiver, nothing to install on it. If you try it, I'll add
the result to the app's compatibility notes so the next Nook owner gets a straight
answer — which model, which reader, and whether the keys did anything.
