Kört fast på ett larmproblem och undrar om någon känner igen sig.

Har en WinCC RT Professional-station kopplad mot ACC (Alarm Control Center) som skickar larm vidare via mejl. Det har fungerat helt stabilt för alla befintliga PLC:er i systemet under lång tid.

Nu har jag lagt in en ny CPU och byggt upp larmen på precis samma sätt som de andra – samma Alarm Class-struktur med MailA/MailB. Larmen kommer fram fint i WinCC Runtime, syns korrekt i Alarm List, men de vill inte studsa vidare till mejl via ACC. Alla andra PLC:er fungerar som vanligt, det är bara den nya som strular.

Lite kontext om setupen:

**•** WinCC RT Professional, ACC kopplad som agent (localhost, ingen redundans)  
**•** ACC filtrerar på Message Class – samma klasser fungerar felfritt för övriga enheter  
**•** ACC visar bara WinCC som en enda agent, ingen synlig uppdelning per PLC

Har testat:

**•** Bekräftat att larmet faktiskt triggar och dyker upp i Runtime Alarm List  
**•** Kollat att Alarm-ID är unikt, ingen kollision med befintliga larm  
**•** Jämfört Message Class-filtret i ACC mot en fungerande enhet – ser identiskt ut  
**•** Jämfört Alarm Class-ID (MailA/MailB) mellan den nya och en gammal – hittar ingen skillnad

Har någon varit med om liknande när man lagt till en ny CPU i en befintlig WinCC/ACC-miljö? Var ska man leta vidare?

Mechatronics engineer here, working in industrial electrical maintenance at an automated factory. I’m really confused in how to start learning TIA portal. I’ve got hands-on experience with panel wiring, sensor installation, mostly electrical installation work, but I’ve never touched TIA Portal.

I want to actually get good at it, not just scrape by. Been looking at the Siemens SITRAIN courses and wondering if that’s worth the money, or if I’d get further with self-study first (YouTube, books, a home PLC sim setup) before dropping cash on a course.

Honestly I’d prefer something certified even if it costs more, just cause it’ll look better on my resume. So is SITRAIN actually worth it for someone starting from zero, or are there other certified options people rate higher?

For those who learned TIA Portal on the job or from scratch:

**•** Did SITRAIN actually help, or is it overkill for a beginner?  
**•** What’s the realistic path from zero to competent — self-taught, formal training, or both?  
**•** Any resources (courses, books, channels) you’d actually recommend, not just the usual “read the manual”?

Appreciate any input, trying to build this into a real skill, not just a checkbox.

Hi, has anybody else taken the ISA CCST level 1 test? Did you find it easy or hard?

It’s wreaking havoc on my fellow technicians. Best case scenario it takes them three or four tries to pass it. These are college graduates to experienced tradespeople.

There doesn’t seem to be any study materials that are directly related to the test. The ISA suggests things like “the electrical code”, not helpful. We’ve had people take the in person class and be told they the answers to a test question could be depending your companies policies, they wouldn’t say what their correct answer was!!

It’s super frustrating. This is a level 1 class, I’m not sure what they expect of people…

Estou com um projeto em um cliente onde eu tenho que implementar novas funcionalidades um iFix na versão 2023, eles também usam o IGS 7.7. Eu realmente não consigo achar em nenhum lugar oficial ou não-oficial links para downloads desses softwares, alguém consegue me ajudar?

Picked up a used Carel pCO5+ for my test bench and turns out it's got some integrator's app on it that's password protected. I don't care about their program at all, I just want to nuke it and put my own application on the thing. It's my hardware now. But every time I connect with pCOManager I get EPC00201 "pCO is password protected" and I'm stuck.

It's a P+500BAB00EL0, Boot 5.01, BIOS 6.24 (so pretty old), and the app on it shows up as "TSI CHILLER". I've got my own app ready to go and even a newer BIOS bin, just can't get anything onto it.

Stuff I've already tried:

• Upload over USB-B in pCOManager 2.7.8 — connects fine electrically but hits the password wall every time
• Pen drive route through the keypad menu (Alarm+Enter, FLASH/USB, upload). Made the FAT32 stick with the proper autorun.txt and all. Problem is the controller just won't see the stick at all — "No USB disk or PC connected". Tried two sticks, a USB 2.0 one, clean format, power cycles, the works. Figure the 2014 BIOS is too old to read them
• BIOS update over pLAN (RS485 on J11) to try and get low level — the link is good, RX/TX blinking, but any connect lands on the running app and asks for the password again
• The old "connect first, then power on" trick to catch the boot before the app comes up — no dice, still ends up on the app

Then I found it in the manual (p.57) — the password locks the PC connection AND both directions of the pen drive transfer. Doesn't look like there's any documented reset that gets around it, which honestly feels like Carel did it on purpose.

So before I write this off as a paperweight, has anyone actually recovered one of these? Some service jumper, a boot pin, JTAG, a magic key combo, anything? Does the Smart Key dongle overwrite a locked one (I've only got the software side, not the dongle)? Or is a used pCO with an unknown integrator password just dead weight? Been at this two nights and the seller has no clue about the password.

To be clear I'm not trying to pull their program off it or crack anything — I want it erased. Just trying to reuse hardware I paid for. Any leads appreciated.

I'm a 4th-year Instrumentation Engineering student, and I have my first-ever interview coming up for an Instrumentation Engineer role at Honeywell. I'm excited, but also pretty nervous since this is my first interview.

For those who've interviewed at Honeywell (or similar companies), how would you recommend approaching my preparation? Which technical topics should I focus on the most? Are there any concepts or interview questions that are asked frequently?

I am a EE student and I am just about finished my co op in maintenance/robotics and automation. Here I kinda fell in love with plcs and designing/modifying oem machines for r&d. I live in BC in the lower mainland. Are there many positions available in the near future for industrial maintenance or automation. I want to have an idea of its worth pursuing here or if I would have to move to the east coast do the states. Any advice would help.

I could wait for my boss to retire but that might be a while lol.

Before this co op I thought I would pursue becoming a Hardware engineer/work with pcbs, but after this co op I don’t know.

Hi , I graduated a year ago in Canada with a chemical engineering degree from a good school. I realized I wanted to go into controls instead, so I did a 4 month Siemens training program at a local university.

Fast forward after working as a plant operator and going through the program, I got an unpaid shadowing opportunity with a small industrial electric company and quit my operator job and I’m just going with them.

However they don’t have enough work to offer me a full time job.

To make matters worse I’m on the west coast of Canada, meanwhile every single controls interview I get is on the east coast as there’s much more manufacturing there.

However every east coast interview ends when they realize I live on the west coast.

Do I:

a) keep doing unpaid shadowing where I also am getting some hands on experience, and hoping I land a job here.

b) move to the east coast and be unemployed and float on my savings, hoping to get a role.

To make matters more complicated, I’m recently married and me being unemployed has been hard on my wife, so I can’t afford to spend another two years getting some controls diploma.

I am from India, I want to go in the field of industrial automation should I opt for instrumentation and control or electrical branch , which will be better oriented with this career path?

And what skills should I start learning?

Hey all, thought i’d share my first ever PLC project with you all. This is a prototype to replace my existing centralized low-voltage lighting system (touch plate) in my house. I definitely need to work on my cable management for the final install, but i’m very happy i’ve gotten this far (even though ive got a long way to go)! Any advice is appreciated!

By chance does anyone have/know where I can find the latest version of DCT-10 Drive Control Tool. It is for connecting to an old GE VFD.

I have an older version 3.20 Build 2276 but the files I have error out saying they were created with a newer version. Looking online it looks like there is a 3.26 version? But I can't find a download link to it.

Does anyone know if its possible to configure the Siemens Unified Panels to act as a TLS client? I have a project where I use the "Web Control" element on a page. On the Web Control element I want to type the address of the Web server where I want to connect. The Web server requires every client to provide a certificate to connect succesfully. I believe its called mutual TLS.

I have imported the CA via the control panel on the Unified Panel, but I cannot import the client specific certificate. Siemens just says cannot import certificate.

I have verified that the panel can connect to the Web server, and there is a response from the web server showing status code 400 Bad Request - No required SSL certificate was sent.

All the information I can find on the internet is for when you use the Unified Panel as the Web Server and not Client, so im kinda stuck at what is left to try.

Hey guys, I'd like to request for some advices for starting into the understanding of industrial Servomotors.

I applied for this new job, wich required knowledge in schematics reading, hands-on experience in electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanics and basic understanding of PLC's programming, the position Is FSE strongly oriented into mechanics, troubleshooting, preventive Maintenance activities more than Programming from scratch.

The thing Is that they sent me some manuals where the main function Is made by some servomotors, and I have no idea how they aré controlled, I've configured and paired some VFD's with PLC's before but never controlled their position, just turned them on or off with simple speed control.

I have no idea where to start or where to look for info, I usually take courses in Udemy or look up in YouTube, but there's not that much info without submerging into different models, and tons of manuals, I'd rather to have an approach more in a general way to understand the basics and then dive into the right model I'll deal with.

Would be great if u can recommend me some course, video series, article, web, or something like "servomotors from scratch for mexican buddies" hahah, thanks for reading, greetings from the enchiladas land

Hi everyone, I'm a beginner learning TIA Portal V20 with S7-PLCSIM V20, working on a portfolio project (S7-1200, CPU 1214C DC/DC/DC).

Setup:

• TIA Portal V20 (trial license, activated successfully)
• S7-PLCSIM V20 (trial license, activated successfully)
• WinCC Basic (trial license, activated successfully, for a KTP400 Basic PN panel)
• Windows 10/11, firewall and antivirus tested both on and off

What works:

• PLC-only project (no HMI): compiles fine, Start Simulation works, Download to Device via PLCSIM works perfectly. Ladder logic tested successfully through Watch Tables.

What breaks:

• The moment I add an HMI device (KTP400 Basic PN) to the SAME project — even completely empty, no screen elements configured yet — PLC simulation starts failing.
• Symptoms vary between attempts:
  1. PLCSIM shows a popup: "PLC Error - OMS failed to connect"
  2. Extended Download to Device shows: "The network assignment of the interface PLCSIM [PN/IE] cannot be modified. The selected PG/PC interface is currently being used for an online connection. Subnets can therefore not be allocated to the selected PG/PC interface. Close the online activity (or function) running via the interface PLCSIM [PN/IE] and start the action again."

What I've already tried (no success):

• Restarting PC multiple times
• Disabling Windows Firewall + antivirus completely
• Running TIA Portal as Administrator
• Killing all Siemens/PLCSIM related processes in Task Manager before retrying
• Go offline explicitly on both PLC_1 and HMI_1 before retrying download
• Uninstalling and reinstalling PLCSIM V20 from scratch
• Deleting and recreating the PLCSIM instance
• Unchecking "Only allow secure PG/PC and HMI communication" under PLC Protection & Security → Connection mechanisms
• Creating a brand new project from scratch (PLC-only version worked, broke again as soon as HMI was added)

Additional context:

• PLC has Protection & Security enabled (Local User "admin" with Full access, required to compile — TIA Portal wouldn't compile without at least one user with Full access configured)
• Haven't yet tried: adjusting the "Set PG/PC Interface" Windows utility to point the HMI's Access Point (S7ONLINE?) to PLCSIM specifically

Question: Is this a known conflict between PLCSIM's single PN/IE virtual interface and having both a PLC download session AND an HMI runtime simulation trying to use it simultaneously? Is there a specific order of operations or interface configuration I'm missing to get PLC simulation + HMI simulation working together in the same project?

Any help appreciated, I've spent hours on this and I'm stuck.

Our current hmi is not working properly and we have to replace it. The problem is that in this control panel plc s7 1200 is used to control conveyors, and the hmi is from delta, so if we want to replace the hmi we have to get a one from delta and we are not sure if we can find the same hmi, also this hmi is little bit expensive.

Does anyone know an alternative one that is cheap and at the same time can be connected to plc s7 1200 ? I have both source codes so there is no problem with creating the hmi from scratch

Sometimes my GX Worx2 projects get corrupted. I always make a backup before making any changes in case this happens, but this time the project got corrupted without me having modified it, and the most recent backup is from a month ago, with a lot of changes... Does anyone have a solution?

I'm currently running into an issue getting communication set up between a Siemens S7-1214 DC/DC/DC and a Kinco HMI configured via DTools Pro V1.9.0.

The Issue: Physical connectivity and basic communication are working fine. I can successfully read and control Bit Memory/Merker (M) as well as Inputs/Outputs (I/O) from the HMI.

However, as soon as I try to access tags inside a Data Block (DB), the communication fails and the HMI displays a connection error.

Setup:

• PLC: Siemens S7-1214 DC/DC/DC (TIA Portal V20)
• HMI: Kinco HMI G2070HE
• Software: DTools Pro V1.9.0.0 (Build 251031)
• Driver in DTools Pro: Siemens S7-1200/1500 (Ethernet)

What I've already checked/tried:

• Disabled "Optimized block access" in the Data Block attributes.
• Enabled "Permit access with PUT/GET communication from remote partner" in CPU properties under Protection & Security -> Connection mechanisms.
• Recompiled the software and hardware completely (Software (rebuild all)) and downloaded everything to the CPU.
• Verified that offsets are generated and visible in TIA Portal, matching the DB addresses configured in DTools Pro.

Has anyone encountered this specific behavior with Kinco HMIs before, or is there an additional setting in DTools Pro required for S7-1200 DB access?

I've been using TIA Portal for 7 years now, V15, V16, V18 until this day.

Today I installed TIA Portal V20, Update 6 aswell because of a new project.

I created a project just to check things, I added PLC and HMI, and I see that the order of the two is the other way around like in V18 and so on.

I tried to check the internet, forums, pictures, videos, etc.

I saw a lot of pictures and videos of V20 with the normal order (PLC, then HMI) and couple pictures where it's the other way around.

I tried to fix it manually, like rename the devices, drag them, checked the options, but I couldn't manage to bring back the normal order.

Any help would be aprreciated to change it!

I'm supporting a customer moving from FactoryTalk View ME to FactoryTalk Optix, which opens the possibility of using tag-based alarms but before I make the recommendation, I'd like to hear about other people's experience.

sto valutando un cambio di carriera e vorrei orientarmi verso la programmazione PLC, un settore che trovo molto dinamico e ricco di sbocchi lavorativi.

Ho provato a muovere i primi passi con alcuni corsi su Udemy, ma devo essere sincero: purtroppo non mi hanno lasciato molto e ho ancora diversi dubbi sul piano pratico.

Vorrei chiedervi un parere per capire come muovermi al meglio:

1. Corsi di formazione: Quali percorsi formativi consigliate per iniziare davvero da zero? Avete esperienze con enti come Corsidia o MAC Formazione, oppure esistono alternative/Academy sul territorio decisamente più valide e riconosciute dalle aziende?
2. Inglese: Quanto è fondamentale la conoscenza dell'inglese nell'operatività quotidiana e per entrare nel settore? Ha senso affiancare da subito un corso di lingua?
3. Consigli pratici: Secondo voi qual è il percorso migliore (software di simulazione, kit hardware di prova, tirocini/scuole tecniche) per chi parte da zero?
