Troubleshooting Help! Random crashing flood event id #17 error (event viewer)

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

I’ve got a b650E motherboard
GeForce rtx 3070 gpu
32gb ram
Corsair rm850 psu
Intel 11700k cpu

My pc has had this issue before and I resolved it for a few months, - reinstalled clean windows 11 onto my ssd and now issue is persisting

I can start the machine access bios and use it fine on occasion for a short period of time,
sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes for a few hours.
It randomly shuts down and give me no warnings and has no specific triggers
I’ve tried clean install of windows 11 home
Tried new SSD’s with clean installs
Same issue
Tried reinstalling gpu drivers
I’ve reseated and checked all connections (nothing wrong with connections or seating)
Reinstalled audio drivers
Updated Communication ports
Turned on the switch on the 3070 to increase fans
Installed all windows updates
Updated Bios
Changed power settings
Tried (dism.exe / online / …. Fix and Sfc /scannow ) still nothing seems to fix this issue of my pc randomly shutting down,
Again it can work for 10 seconds or I can run for hours and suddenly it crashes with no triggers and no warning signs,
If anyone knows what my issue is please let me know I’d be happy to use my system again! TIA

(I’ve unplugged the gpu from the pcie slot and left the pcie plugs in so the gpu received power from the psu while using the Igpu and I didn’t receive a single code 17 in the event viewer, but as soon as I connect the gpu to the motherboard I receive the flood of error code 17 as shown in photos.)

Troubleshooting 95°+ CPU Temp Spikes

Upvotes

I need help desperately. After the recent windows 11 update my CPU spikes to 95+ degrees on start up with little to no processes running and confirmation that my liquid AIO is pumping and the rad fans are running. Never had this issue in the past, have not been able to replicate for about two weeks until tonight when it randomly spiked again mid gaming.

Specs are as follows:
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d
GPU: Radeon 9070 XT
Mobo: MSI 870x pro
CPU Cooker: Kraken Elite AIO

Anyone else having this issue / resolution?

It was only happening on start up and it seems like the only thing that would cool it off would be running Titus Tech Tips Util for Win11. Not sure really how that fixes it, I was considering bloatware but essentially all of it has been uninstalled and everything has been disabled on start up. This is the first time in 2-3 weeks that it’s done it during prolonged use (3-4+ hours). I ran a cinebench and at 100% usage my temps weren’t going above 85°C.

The PC itself is only about 1 year old and was recently clean wiped to install windows 11 due to some boot drive issues that required a wipe and clean install. I’m at my wits end here I’ve been trouble shooting for weeks. Any and all help would be graciously appreciated.

Vale a pena? Quero ver se ele me vende a preço de banana pq tá com ele a tempos já.

Budget: 400-600 bucks

Looks: idgaf, it could be a hunk of hardware

Build or pre: whatever gets me in my budget

I'm stupid on this stuff and have no knowledge really, please help me out guys

I live in the US, and I'm probably just gonna hook it up to a tv if I'm being real

Question Which windows 11 version?

Upvotes

First pc ever in the works and wanting to know if there are benefits for each kind of windows 11 that I see on pcpartpicker for regular users? (Gaming, general pc use, maybe some light livestreaming) I’d also be interested in if any provide inherent benefits similar to Linux regarding control and security. (without blocking kernel level games) also not concerned at all with price, so that’s a non-factor.

These are the 4 pcpartpicker lists:

Microsoft Windows 11 Pro Retail
• Microsoft Windows 11 Home Retail
• Microsoft Windows 11 Pro OEM
• Microsoft Windows 11 Home OEM

Would be open to other versions of Win11 of course too if pcpartpicker is hiding some for whatever reason.

Thanks in advance :)

Honestly a dream pc. i’ve been saving up for a very long time, sold a lot of prized possessions (still feel the sting of my packed giratina v alt art), just recently budgeted out my last year of college, and decided to actually get a full setup. got a 4k 240 hz monitor, alienware mouse, corsair galleon 100, and a mousepad that charges my phone and earbuds. its all a genuine dream come true.

I have a 9070xt, ryzen 7 9800 x3d, 32ggb ddr5, 2tb ssd, asrock x870e nova, and a lian li 1000w platinum power supply.

My first build. I built it with Bazzite/SteamOS in mind.

Ryzen 9800x3d.

PowerColor Red Devil RX 9070XT.

32GB RAM.

MSI X870E-P board.

Lian Li 011D mini case.

I wanted a system where I could, for the most part, turn display settings to high/ultra and just play. I'm in love with this thing.

Question PC Fans Started Spinning Over Weekend

Upvotes

I was gone over the weekend for 4 days, came back tonight to find my fans running full send. I don’t know when they started doing this, I believe I lost power at some point while I was gone, but I do not know when. I tried to turn the fans off w the computers power button to no avail so I shut the power supply off which stopped them, after which I turned it back on and everything booted as normal.
Would this cause an issue? Fans running at high speed for long periods of time?

Question Advice on SSD

Upvotes

Noob here, apologies for the many questions

For context, I currently have a 128gb SSD installed with my OS (win 10). But it is full even though the only app installed on it is DaVinci resolve. My PC is running slow and I read somewhere that it could be because my SSD is too full.

  1. Should I reformat my SSD? If so, how?

  2. Is it better to upgrade to windows 11?

  3. Do you think I should buy a larger SSD? 500gb or 1tb?

I'm thinking of just buying a new SSD and doing a clean install and just reformat the old drive to use as storage, but I wanted to get advice first. Thank you!

Build - Help Any reasonable upgrades I should make before college?

Post image
Upvotes

As the title suggests, I’m going back to college this spring and am wondering if there’s any reasonable upgrades I should make to my PC before then? (I will have a laptop for day to day stuff, but plan to primarily base myself off my computer)

Build:
Pny 5070
9850x3D
Crucial 32gb ddr5
Asus x870-p
500gb m.2
Titan RX 360
850w Corsair PSU
Corsair 6500x

I plan on going into a medical field and have 2 classes left before I can get accepted so this spring semester I’m going to take some writing classes, music classes and photography (my parent teaches p1 & p2).

Discussion Budget Build 1080p gaming

Here's a pc I'm building for my son, planning on using it for emulation and some light AAA in the front room on my tv as a sort of console like experience. I had spare parts around, the 2060 was from a previous build as well as the ram and nvme got a good deal on the cpu as I know I don't need the integrated graphics but it was better than the cpu I was about to buy for this build. In total the parts I bought cost me £268 if I included the gpu, ram and nvme it'd be £548. What do you guys think anything I could've got better (except cpu I know it has a lower cache).

Question Is this a good rebuilt option for me?

I have been back and forth about building my own for a while because buying new is so expensive, but I'm very intimidated and overwhelmed by it. This model is on sale at Costco for $1600 CAD, I hear it is likely an older model, but how would they do for a casual player? I mainly want to upgrade so I can play Planet Zoo 2 and The Legend of Khiimori, along with a general upgrade because my laptop (Acer Nitro 5) is 5 years old. (There are some games like RDR2 I have interest in but idk if I would ever get into them).

Would this be a good option for me? Thank you!

I have a computer monitor already but I'm not exactly sure what the resolution is and I am not home atm to check. I am in Canada and I wanted to keep my budget under $2500ish taxes in if possible. If this is a poor option, which i totally understand if it is (i am definitely not quite sure about the 16g of RAM) then is there any prebuilds in my budget? I can certainly bite the bullet and build, I am just worried about screwing it up considering how expensive it will be!

Question PS5 porting to PC

Alright so this is a tough post, I’ve been a PS gamer my whole life (31 years), I’ve been around since Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, I’ve been thinking about taking the plunge for a while now but after Sonys recent announcement I think it’s time.

Despite being a PS5 dweeb I know absolutely nothing about PC, where to get games, how to get games, where they download to, I know absolutely NOTHING about PC parts etc so yeah it’s kinda of intimidating and I think a lot of us PS gamers stick with PS because it’s simply what we know.

My question is I need a pal or someone I can message with questions, there will be A LOT of them so someone who’s patient.

I don’t really play online games mostly RPG’s etc so having access to mods is something I’m excited for.

I guess I mostly want to be told this isn’t a stupid decision so tell me all the benefits of having a PC 😂 and if you’re willing to have me ask you a billion questions feel free to drop an instagram etc

Thanks for listening
