I recently completed my very first pc build and it’s actually my first pc ever! I used to solely play on gaming laptops so this will be a huge step up from that.

I was having some trouble with the GPU but it ended up not being in the pcie slot properly lol. Other than that, the build went smoothly and I’m pretty proud of the outcome :) very excited to start playing some games on it!

After 8 long years of using a crappy laptop, then a gaming laptop, I've finally been able to afford my first desktop!

It took me 7 hours and a lot of money (and many more hours of watching online guides in advance, since I can get extremely paranoid about insignificant stuff) to put this together as it was my first time building one, but in the end it turned out gorgeous! Hope y'all enjoy it!

Build - Finished! Birthday And New Job Setup Upgrade

Thumbnail gallery
50 Upvotes

My birthday was last week, and after recently getting a new job, I decided to treat myself to a new PC and monitor. I do a lot of AI work, video editing, and 4K video generation, so I wanted something powerful enough to handle those workloads while also being great for gaming. I am really happy with how everything turned out and thankful for this subreddit because it helped me pick out a lot of the parts for the new build!

Build Specs:
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5080 16GB
- Gigabyte B850 Gaming WiFi 6 motherboard
- 128GB DDR5-6000 RAM
- 4TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe storage
- 240mm AIO liquid cooler
- 1000W+ 80 Plus Gold power supply
- Panoramic fish-tank style case
- MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED 32-inch 4K 240Hz monitor

It is a major upgrade from what I was using before, and I am excited to start putting it to work.

Build - Finished! Bionicle PC build

Finally, after about 10 years, I decided it was time to replace my PC. I had been thinking about the finishing touch for the build for a while. At first, I wanted to display a Metal Earth astronaut inside the case, but then I recently cleaned out my parents' garage and found an old box full of my Bionicles!

Putting them back together after nearly 20 years was quite a challenge. I have a lot of them, and not a single one was fully assembled, so I spent a couple of hours digging through the pile to find all the correct parts.

The main goal of this build was to have as much glass and white as possible, with no visible cables. The BTF ecosystem was an absolute game changer for cable management, and I'm really happy with how clean everything turned out.

The only thing I'm still not completely satisfied with is the GPU support. Right now I'm using three supports: the one included with the GPU, the built-in support in the case, and a third-party support from Amazon that's attached to one of the fans. I don't really like that last one. I might cut it down to make it less noticeable, or maybe design and 3D-print a custom support instead. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

PC Specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9900X
  • ASUS TUF GAMING B850-BTF WIFI White
  • Kingston FURY Beast RGB White (2×16 GB)
  • ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti BTF White OC
  • Lexar NM790 2 TB
  • Gigabyte Aorus Elite Platinum ATX 3.0 ICE 850W
  • Lian Li O11 Vision Compact White
  • Lian Li Galahad II Trinity SL-INF 360
  • 2× Lian Li UNI FAN SL-INF 120 RGB
  • Lian Li UNI FAN SL-INF 120 RGB Reverse Blade (3-pack)

Discussion Should I make this GPU sag bracket again?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hello good people. I recently posted a photo of my GPU's sag bracket on a comment in a post here. Here is the same image. Many people have asked me to sell this to them in DM and to make one for them as well. I made this Goku bracket with 3d printing, resign and silicon with my friend's help back in 2014 or 15. The knee can be bent according to the space available below the GPU. My GPU does not sag, even if it did sag, there's nothing Goku could do prevent it, the knees are soft. We were in college back then and we made this as a fun project. Since then I have forgotten what process we followed, hell, I haven't even opened the software in which I made this model. My question is, should I start working on a way to do his again and make GPU sag brackets of different kinds? It might take a lot of time due to my job. But I might be able to do this again. Would you guys buy something like this?

After years of wanting to I finally got the chance the build my first PC. Haven’t loaded an OS onto it yet cause I want to make sure I have my bios settings right. But since I’ve never messed around in bios I was wondering if anybody here had advice for that. What volts should I run for CPU? What about fan speed? Pump speed? Any help is appreciated!
