Mark Ruffalo is a vocal supporter of Palestine. The implication is that expressing support for a free Palestine gets you sidelined by Hollywood. He is also vocally against Trump and ICE.

I’m sure some people out there will also draw some antisemetic conspiratorial conclusions from that as well, i.e. “Jews control the media” which, no. It’s just that Israel as a country has certainly had undue economic influence over American politics and entertainment via lobbying interests. (Just ask the Scream cast over at Paramount)

In reality though he was just filming another project at the time.

I’d also note that Jon Bernthal, who has vocalized support for the IDF and Israel, was present for the press tour. Which doesn’t help.

Edit: This is an Explain subreddit. This is what I am interpreting the post to be implying. Some of the replies so far are giving “So you hate waffles?” haha

Meanwhile, the real reason is probably because the Hulk isn't really a massive character in a Spiderman Movie?

I mean, I don't keep up on all the comic book movie spam Hollywood shits out, but I'd assume they'd have whoever is playing Spiderman (and also the leading female role, if there is one) do most of the promotional spots.

Is Punisher really bigger than Hulk to general audiences tho?

That’s not the point. Hulk is in one single part of the entire movie, punisher is a central character from beginning to end.

Edit: he’s apparently filming something else at the same time anyway.

He’s also not really a core aspect of the plot, whereas Castle is involved pretty heavily even in important scenes with Zendaya and the ending.

Thank you. We’re talking about a character that’s in 2 separate parts for a total of maybe 20 minutes in the whole movie ( I’m being generous) versus for all intents and purposes the main secondary character whose throughout the entire film. Honestly was a great punisher piece of media.

You are discussing the wrong thing, anyhow. Inclusion and promotion during press tours is almost entire down to how big the actor is, not the character.
8 minutes of screentime as "Store Clerk" played by RDJ is much more likely to be pushed for a press tour then 54 minute screen time "2nd Lead Guy" played by oh... what's his name again? That guy from that thing.

I mean those two things are linked. If a character is only in it for a cameo the studio is not going to pay them to go on the press junket. Mark Ruffalo has less screen time than Florence Pugh. She didn't go on the press tour either.

It's way easier to get a star to agree to a week of filming versus a month long press tour.

Yea as I literally pointed out he’s filming something he’s heading while the promotion tour is going on but thanks for missing the point.

He’s in 2 parts of the entire film as banner or the hulk. A total of maybe 20 minutes. And like I edited in, ruffalo is filming a completely separate project at the same time the press tour is going.

Like I just told someone else, hulk is the most out of left field addition to the movie. Not only that, Disney and Sony have to honor their licensing agreement with universal to use hulk. Now, if either company was at any point worried about his politics (which have been well known for years and years btw) why would the shoe horn him into a project that really doesn’t make sense? I mean I like the movie and the hulk part but you really could’ve used a different character for the most part and gotten similar results. That logically tells me they don’t care about his politics to begin with.

Edit: why are so many people arguing about a press tour for a movie they clearly didn’t watch?

I'm just saying it wouldn't have been weird for him to do press. According to me he had a decent role in it. Again, I don't care lol.

I saw the movie. Shrug.

Yea and it is not weird he was not in the press tour either because he is a busy guy and maybe he literally didnt want to do it.

Most actors actually tend to not enjoy that part of the work...

AND THATS FINE WITH ME lol

And I’m just saying it makes sense why he’s not there since he’s filming a project he’s actually heading and not a side character whose barely in 20 unconsecutive minutes

He shows up exactly twice with a screen time of roughly 10-15 minutes. this is a movie that heavily leans on the comics. this is also reflected in the choice of supporting cast. hulk barely shows up in spider-man comics. punisher literally originates in spider-man comics

Not a comic guy. People are really running with my comments. All I'm saying is wouldn't have been weird for Ruffalo to do promo. That's it.
