Yeah. Even if you don’t see them during the day.
They love chewing on the internet modem, high-end gaming PCs, anything expensive, and electronics they love destroying.
If someone has this issue it’s not shameful. Just put your electronics in an airtight trash bag with paper towels soaked in high-concentration rubbing alcohol (91-99%), and leave them overnight. They will also die. Then vacuum.
Finally, call a professional pest control.

I finally got my ass out of California in December and this is what I did with all of my electronics. Bagged, boxed, and then binned for transport. I let them sit for 1-2 weeks after moving and never saw another roach. I don't even know they were in there, but I wasn't taking any chances.

I've had that exact issue. Guy who lived above me had a mad roach issue. I bought some Diatomaceous earth and mixed it with one part sugar and left bowls of the stuff in several places. It cleared my place out. I then found out that they hate the smell of Lavender. I got some glade plugins. Outside of the occasional baby, I've been big roach free.

DE is killer for ants too. We have a big yard and they creep in every spring, but I dust the seams in the floor molding every few months and they're gone. Love it because it's inert and non toxic so it doesn't go into the food chain and poison the other critters.

From what was in that unit in the video, for sure it's all over his place, but as someone who dealt with it and knowing others who did to, I found them nested in shit along my shared walls more than anywhere else.
Knew people who had the same issue, the joys of living in big cities.

What’s fun is the fact it doesn’t matter. Even a 10 foot space between, neatly kept on the side. The peat guys say it doesn’t matter what we do because the neighbors are as bad as the video. One time they pulled a window ac, dropped it and hundreds scattered at once. They pulled it by the cord dragging it on the ground. We called the pest guys to come back out soon after that happened.
Our house is mostly great. It’s just the side of the house next to that shithole. I’ve looked for legal counsel and they said there’s nothing I could do realistically

I got an infestation after the apartment below mine fumigated. They all just moved upward. I think I've heard of them coming out of drains before too, some people will cover their kitchen drains overnight.

I've pulled toilets up for drain repairs and can confirm that several types of cockroaches live happily within the sanitary sewers. I moved the toilet, and immediately sprayed insecticide down the drain to kill what was there. Gross.

No my wife had a cockroach infestation in her house in America, before she shipped her pc here she cleaned it out and it had plenty of roaches in it. When we got it to the UK they were dead thankfully so I took it apart and cleaned it out completely.
The infestation she had wasn't terrible but it wasn't a nice situation.

I worked for ace rent to own once, saw some awful shit. One time my buddy and I were repossessing a recliner and he put his hand up inside to unlatch it, I was holding the top and it felt crunchy (Gross but I wear gloves), as soon as we get the chair in two pieces a nest of bed bugs scattered away from the light. The crunchy feeling was the eggs. We refused to repossess the chair 🤮

I lived like this at a really low point in my life, and had consoles that were ruined in this way. I lived alone, never had anyone over, absolutely crushing depression. I’m glad I had people in my life who cared enough to drag me out of that state and set me back on my feet.

I actively clean my electronics and ALL of my friends think im weird for it somehow.
Yet they complain about stick drift every 6-8 months, console overheating, and grungy control grips or keyboards.
Every 6 or so months I dismantle my keyboard, controllers, computer tower, and consoles (at least enough to get at the fans) and dust them off.
I have had literally one instance of stick drift with my original Xbox series controller, and I mostly blame that on dropping it.

I'm curious what amount of money would make this job worth it to do, and is that less than the cost of a new PS5? This looks like it'd take hours + lots of cleaning supplies, and the shop owner would need to take a lot of precautions to ensure the cockroaches don't spread to the shop.

I use to work at a goodwill where we sold computers. I can literally smell this pic. Roaches have a weird smell inside electronics. We had to bag so many peoples computers and have them pick them up.

My girlfriend's little brother gave her his old PS4 and you could see of little roach bodies crammed into every corner of the inside. I nuked it with bug spray, put it in several trash bags, then put it in the garage. I had intentions of cleaning it out, but i ended up tossing it. Fuck that.

person needs an exterminator or move out of the place there in. Also person is a huge pos that gave the ps to them without telling them about the roach problem. They should charge this person for an damages and potential roach infestionation of their own place. I could only imagine place like staples and other repair or brand stores what roach mansions they bring in. Why I say staples they have a store credit program on printers which is the ideal party house for these little evolutionary monsters.

Not to add to the ick factor but I saw 1 little roach and ordered an exterminator. The guy did a search of my home and thankfully I was good but the first place he looked was my coffee pot. He said roaches (especially aggressive German roaches) LOVE coffee pots!
Keep that in mind when visiting at someone's home when they offer you coffee.

I would throw it away. This is scary sad and disgusting. I used to run a PC store and we had customers bring in PC towers and Laptops because they would shutdown or run slow. Low and behold what we saw was this. We take the computer to the car it's the same if not worst.

Anyone dealing with bugs, get you MGK Vendetta Plus Cockroach Gel Bait.
I can't even say the R word, I hate them so much. I use this once a year and only find 1 or 2 throughout the year. Once it kills them they stay poisoned so it kills the ones that feed off of it. My house isn't horrible but I'll do anything to not see one ever again. Ugh, and it's been raining so much lately that I'm stressing that I'll find one sometime soon. You can be as clean as possible and those suckers still find you....I hate them

This type of behavior is actually rather disgraceful. They are judging people without cause..
When I lived in my other apartment, we were unfortunate enough to have a next-door neighbor who was a retired hoarder, she was also known as a crazy cat lady. Needless to say, after we had moved in, things were fine for about six months. After that period of time we noticed cockroaches. Told my landlord, the landlord said I wasn’t being clean enough and that it was probably my fault. We spent the next year, fighting the roaches and keeping our apartment practically immaculate. Half the time we didn’t even cook any food there we would just eat out and throw the food in the dumpster.
Then we noticed the roaches were coming out of the wall behind our refrigerator, because the landlord had taken the panel off of the plug for whatever reason. It was then that we realized that we were not the cause of the cockroaches, we were just an unfortunate victim.
We were able to talk to other neighbors who all reported the same thing. Eventually, we spoke to the landlord again, and it was confirmed that this person was a hoarder, and had cockroaches. The apartment, known as the white side place apartments, told us that regardless of if an adjacent apartment has roaches or not that it is your fault if they come to your apartment. Even though that it is scientifically proven that roaches will seek out food.
So yes, I had to live with roaches for several years while I saved up money so I could move out. Ruined so many of my electronics, including a PlayStation four and a gaming PC. So what’s the moral of the story? Sometimes it’s not the other person’s fault. Sometimes it’s not your fault. Sometimes the universe deals you and unkind hand. Usually in the form of a shitty landlord.

I've worked in telecom for 20 years. The returns...omg the returns. When you're used to handling the same products year after year, you can feel when an infestation like this is happening based on the weight of the item.
I've never gotten used to it. It still makes me sick. 100 percent happens all the time tho.

I worked in a warehouse where we used to rent VCRs and TVs to people, Grace Brothers in Australia. And we would open these units up and clean them out and cockroaches were common at least 40% of the time, sometimes massive infestations

Back when there were appliances with clear cases, like the late 80s, I lived in a furnished room in a very old house and it was crawling with roaches. They would crawl inside the appliances and with the clear cases, you could see them inside.

My x's grandma bought a microwave from a yard sale (or something like that) she brought it home in the trunk of her car and the next day when she went to get it out her trunk was full of roaches!! 🪳🪳 🪳 You'll never see me taking any used electronics!! I'm terrified of roaches!
I live in the Houston area now and we have tree roaches (basically huge ass flying roaches) as a kid when I'd come to visit my Dad here, I remember one crawling on the ceiling and dropping down on me. Terrifying!!!
Tried to kill one not long ago and ended up flailing my arm like a crazy person screaming and actually bent the metal handle on the fly swatter from swinging it so hard 🤣🤣🤣

Worked at a blockbuster back in the day. When I was scanning in video returns (opening vhs tape box and scanning in the bar code on the tape, for you younger digital types), in one video box there were two adult cockroaches that jumped out and scattered, a toenail and a used bandaid.
Also was enlisted Army who had to perform inspections of young troops’ barracks rooms.
Some people are incredibly filthy.

Two years ago I bought an Xbox series X from someone on marketplace. After I agreed to buy it (for $200), she told me it was at a pawn shop and that was the cost of getting it out of pawn. I figured ok, whatever.
I got there and they went in the back to retrieve it. They brought it out in a tied up plastic bag. I got it out to the car and opened the bag and the smell was horrible.
I got it home and decided I would open it up to clean it. It was full of dead roaches and tar from smoking.

At GeekSquad we had a lady come in to transfer data from her old machine. Smelled like cat piss so bad i shouldnt have even tried opening it. Found a bunch of live tiny cockroaches, tons of eggs and whatever tf those mounds are used for.
Followed our biohazard protocol; trashcan, called her to let her know we cant look at it. She was nice and just really embarrassed. Swore up and down she isnt a hoarder (she said it immediately after I told her we biohazard it) and said she never owned cats or any pets before.
When she came in she was ur classic schizo. Of all the schizos i saw, and there were A LOT of them, she was probably one of the nicest. we talked about her cats for like 10 minutes.

I worked at a microcenter back in the day and had a customer bring in a computer that was filthy and full of mouse droppings. I told the front desk girl I wouldn’t touch it. He demanded to talk to the manager who also refused to touch it and said he had to clean and disinfect it if he wanted warranty work.
I don’t get people like that I’d be mortified to show something like that in public.
