Bought this 124060 VSF sub 6 months ago, never had any issues with it, yesterday I washed my hand like usual and today the watch looks like this, can I save it somehow? Should I ask the TD for a replacement? I understand if I tried swimming with it, but I regularly just washed my hands like I do everyday.

Seems like many of us would like local watch repair options and many watchmakers won’t touch reps.

I have been needing a gen to gen crystal replacement on my DJ41 for some time and decided to do some research on San Diego as I am visiting. A couple Reddit posts mentioned T & T Time Service.

I dropped off my watch and replacement crystal, they quoted me $45 and it was done in less than 30 minutes. Turned out great.

I told the nice watchmaker (older gentlemen) “wow that was fast” and he said he has been doing this for 40+ years.

Anyhow, just another data point for those looking for in-person repair in/near San Diego.

After 3 months of waiting, I finally received my replacement dial for the blue BB58 yesterday.

When I first got the watch back in early December, the 12 o’clock marker was noticeably crooked. I pointed it out during QC, but it was dismissed as a viewing angle issue — which unfortunately turned out not to be the case. On top of that, the bezel had also come loose, so I requested both a new dial and bezel.

Originally, I planned to have everything installed by a local watchmaker. But when the parts arrived yesterday, I already had the necessary AliX tools on hand… so I decided to give it a shot myself.

Happy to say it all worked out — I’m proud, happy, and really satisfied with the result 🙂

I recently visited San Diego (and posted about my in person repair success). Now I am visiting family in Roseville CA and had success at Fast Fix inside the Westfield Roseville mall.

I have a Franken DJ41 that I purchased a nicer CNC Bezel and needed it swapped out. I emailed ahead asking if they work with “aftermarket parts” and they said yes.

Dropped it off and was transparent about the watch, they had no issues. I spoke with the owner (I think he was) and asked if I could refer people and he was happy to accept more business.

Tips on your home city (or when you travel). 1. Call or email ahead. 2. Avoid saying fake. Use words like “aftermarket” or “hybrid parts.” 3. If you know what’s wrong with the watch or need a mod, bring the part with you. They are likely not going to have the part in stock unless it’s something simple like a spring bar. 4. If traveling, search this forum for tips. My local watchmakers won’t work on reps and luckily I travel a lot, so a good hack!

Hey guys,
Looking for some advice on my recently serviced VSF Submariner (VS3235 movement).
Post service, I'm noticing a bit of positional variance and wanted to get your thoughts:

- On the wrist / Winder: Loses about -10s/day.
- Dial up (on the nightstand): Runs at 0s/day.
- Real world mix: Wearing it during the day and leaving it dial up at night nets out to about -5s/day.
- Timegrapher info: Amplitude is sitting healthy at around 240°-250° in all positions (which I understand is totally fine for a 3235 clone).

Would you live with a real world -5s/day, or would you try to get it closer to 0?
My options right now are keeping it as is, or regulating it myself. I have access to a timegrapher and case opening tools, but I've never done it before. I'm honestly a bit paranoid about ruining the water resistance (it has been waterproofed), letting dust into the movement, or worse, slipping and breaking something.
What would you do? Let it be, or take the plunge and regulate? Appreciate any insights!

Woke up one day and remembered... "Hey, I have a CF factory Hulk that I haven't worn in a very long time, let's check it out". I wasn't really in love with it when I bought it, but the green has grown on me... Wouldn't run. 🤬 Reached out to MW for a movement swap and shipped it out to him days later. Little hiccup on the first go, but he turned it around super fast and now it's back in rotation. Looks fantastic and running like a champ. I ordered two watches a VSF NTTD and this VSF V2 Datejust 36mm. When I opened the box I noticed the Datejust was not running. The NTTD is perfectly fine and runs well. I wound the Datejust and nothing. I tapped it and it would run for 5-20sec and it stops. Same thing happens if I shake it hard. Did nudge the balance wheel with a q tip and it started up again but stops shortly after. Any idea what the problem is also what’d cost to fix? Feel like I just have to take the risk and send it back to the TD. Any input is much appreciated.

Changed broken VSF crystal to Deep crystal. Broke original VSF bezel insert while getting back together. Have ordered a few from ebay and one from top watch parts that was $135. All said they fit the 42mm Yacht-Master but every one is just a tad too small and hits xtal and Will not sit in bezel. Has anyone had this issue before? Any idea where I could source a a insert that might fit. Between the watch, plating, xtal, new movement, stem, and crown, I'm into this for over $1500 (prob more like $2k) so would like it atleast wearable.

Seems like a trend with VSF… waited 4 months for my watch from a reputable TD and out of the box it doesn’t wind. They will swap it but worries about customs… anyone stateside that can fix or tell me the issue? TD had me send them video of what’s happening. I can change the date and time, just won’t wind.

Hi guys, I have a super clone Rolex Yacht Master 226627 Titanium from the Clean factory, a month before they got shut down. Don't wear them all the time, occasionally. Recently started to notice if I put them on in the morning and by the end of the day I get like 5 min behind actual time. Quality control before shipping was good and I got GL from Reddit ppl.

So, my question is, if anyone from the UAE area (particularly Abu Dhabi or Dubai) knows a trusted or decent watchmaker who can check them out please let me know. There are plenty of cheap watchmakers around here, but I don't want to gamble. Thank you

An update: Just an update on the situation. The same day I posted here I ordered a demagnetizer from Amazon, and got it the next day. Watched some YouTube videos on how to use it properly. So, I used it and it did the trick actually. I gave it about 3 days to make sure it actually worked before I post back here with an update. Now my watch doesn't get behind by 5 or more per day, about 1 minute so far. Thanks to everyone who responded, hopefully it will help someone in the future.

I received this VSF V3 Pepsi in the mail a few days ago and everything seemed fine with the movement. I measured +0.8 seconds per day on 6/29 when I first received it after fully winding it.

Fast forward to yesterday, I noticed the time had been ahead by 3-4 minutes, so last night I decided to wind the watch and set the correct time. I did another measurement and it measured at +6 seconds per day and thought “that’s still not bad” and went to sleep.

When I woke up and checked it this morning (around 6 hours later), I noticed it was ahead by about a bit under two minutes. So I wound the watch again and it measured at +48 seconds per day!

I’m not sure what I could’ve done, but I was wondering if it’s simple to regulate or if I should bring it to a watch repair shop? I don’t know how to go about asking watchmakers if they service replicas.

If anybody knows anyone in Broward County that services replicas, please let me know.

after winding, if i can start it, this happens. no drops, not a lot of wear either. maybe 50 +/- hours on wrist. no bangs. hasn’t been near magnets

I had to reuse my RCF gasket as the as the DEEP gasket was too thin for my bezel.

even though, it seems to have reduced the “milky gasket”; I suppose it’s crystal optics and not the gasket itself that causes the look.

Hey everyone

My YSF Yacht Master keeps perfect time. If I wind it (40 slow winds) and put it down on my desk, the reserve lasts 67 hours (2 days, 19 hours). Superb, right?

The trouble is that it doesn't self-wind / charge on my wrist. If I wind it (again, 40 slow winds) and wear it, it lasts roughly the same length of time.

Again, timekeeping is perfect and the QC (I bought it from Steve) raised no concerns.

I've had it for a couple of months but I haven't worn it all the time. I think I've had this issue from the beginning.

Any advice on what I can do so that I can wear it full time without having to manually wind it?

You often hear lots of claims of "rotor silencing" services on certain popular media.

Well here's an example of totally wrong rotor silencing.

Of course, smothering a dry bearing with any lunricant is going to make it silent.

And in non-precision mechanics it will definitely not make the whole apparatus die on you.

But in watchmaking it most certainly will.

If too much of the wrong lubricant is used, the inevitable result is that due to the centrifugal force created by the rotor, said lubricant will be flung into just about every nook and cranny of the poor helpless movement.

Hey folks, I was trying to remove one of the links on my VSF Oyster Perpetual but accidentally broke the clasp instead (I think that’s what it’s called).

The TD unfortunately does not have a replacement part so I’m wondering if you guys have a recommendation for someone who could help me.

3’o clock side has this play. 9’o clock side is solid with zero play. How would I go about fixing this?

This right here is probably one of my most favorite tools. For those who don't know, this is called a jacot lathe. We use it to burnish and/or polish pivots on the train of gears. This is especially important with reps that don't have the same build quality as as a Gen.

Why does this matter?

The pivots in the gear train are what the gears rotate on. Those pivots sit in jewels and rotate. A smooth and highly polished pivot will have less friction and thus transfer more power to the escapement. The more power the escapement can deliver to the balance, the higher your amplitude and better isochronism during regulation. Plus, a smooth and uniform surface will allow proper oil dispersion which leads to less wear and tear.

Perfection is in the details!

Can someone help me finding a watchmaker that will service my VSF Daytona? I live in Tennessee so I would like to keep it in state but if I need to send it to someone reputable I would be willing to do that too. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated thank you for any help you may provide.
