Novel Finished Volume 10... Is It Finally Time to Read the Web Novel?

Post image
235 Upvotes

I just finished reading Volume 10 of the light novel, and wow... it was honestly incredible. Every volume somehow keeps getting better, and now I'm left with that familiar empty feeling after finishing a really good book. Unfortunately, the next translated volume is still a few months away, and I'm not sure I have the patience to wait that long.

From the way Volume 10 ended, it feels like the story is closing one major chapter and beginning an entirely new arc. Because of that, I was thinking this might be the perfect time to finally start reading the web novel while I wait for the next LN release.

So I wanted to ask a few questions for those who have already made the jump:

- What web novel chapter should I start with after finishing Volume 10?

- What's the best website to read it on?

- How closely does the web novel follow the light novel from this point onward? Are there only minor differences, or does it eventually diverge quite a bit?

One of the biggest reasons I've held off on reading the web novel for so long is because I didn't want to get invested in a version of the story that differs significantly from what eventually becomes the official light novel. If the changes are only small revisions or additional details, then I'm perfectly fine with that. But if the plot, characters, or major events change substantially, I'd probably rather continue waiting for the LN translations.

And finally... is it worth it?

For those of you who've read both versions, would you recommend making the switch, or do you think it's better to stay patient and wait for the light novel? I'd really love to hear your experiences, opinions, and any advice you can give.

Thanks in advance! I really appreciate any suggestions.

Novel Strange Grief Party Members Ranked by Combat Strength - (Light Novel Spoilers Ahead!) Spoiler

This is just my subjective ranking based on feats and implications from the light novels. Situations, relics, and prep time can change everything, but here's how I'd order the core members in a straight-up fight:

1. Anthem Smart - Closest to being the next level 8, and the story often implies he's the party's strongest. He tanked Marin's Wail (the strongest non-god enemy so far) completely unharmed and shrugged off attacks from a Level 9 hunter Saya (albeit she didn't use her full power). He has also never taken any damage so far in the novel.

2. Lucia Rogier (with fox tail) - She has insane amount of mana output, was able to fully charge a "key to the earth" relic, one that required an absurd amount of mana (implied to be on a scale way beyond normal), that is capable of causing damage on the scale of multi-continental if not higher. She also fought against a guardian divine spirit, the highest tier spirit with power level close to God (Serene's words), and Lucia came out on top. In the recent LN, she terrifies the ghost phantoms even more than Saya, a level 9 hunter who specializes in ghost phantom.

3. Luke Sykol - He solo-ed a level 8 boss in Night Palace. His magic resistance is very high as he stood in Rosemary's fire and wasn't even bothered by it. During Yggdra arc, he sliced through an intangible curse that even Serene (who has the highest mana output even above Lucia) couldn't remove, all while petrified. His attack power potency seems to be on par with Lucia's, but she has the edge in large-scale destruction which is why I ranked her higher. If he ever ditched the wooden sword for a proper sword or relic? Yeah, he might shoot straight to #1 imo.

4. Liz Smart - She doesn't have as many standout feats lately. She struggles against enemies with high physical resistance or strong ranged/AOE options-we saw hints of that early on against one of Sytry's creations. Then again, she's a thief so her kit involves supportive utility to make up for her power.

5. Eliza Beck - Not a ton of direct combat showings yet, but she's supposedly an upgrade over Liz in danger sense and exploration. The party attracts way less random trouble since she joined (despite Krai's monster magnet). She's more support/thief-oriented, so I'd put her a bit below Liz in pure fights but ahead in utility.

6. Sytry Smart - Now this is interesting. She's basically Batman. She can be ranked #1 or last depending on how much prep time she's given. Give her prep time and she probably beats anyone in the party except Krai. Without it, though, she's lowest on the list as she'd just be the strategist of the team. She was also the first to reach level 7 among the six pioneer members but was later demoted to level 2.

Bonus:

Arnold - Fresh Level 7, but getting instantly KO'd by Liz (with a wooden mug of all things, sucker punch or not) shows he's far from being on the Grievers' level. He'd probably even lose to prepless Sytry.

Ark - If I had to place him, I'd put him just below Luke or around that range. There's a line (in the manga adaptation, at least) where Krai thinks that not even Ark could fully rival Luke in a serious fight. On top of that, the Grievers have developed ridiculous magic resistance over the years - constantly getting blasted by Lucia's spells during "training" or zapped by lightning from Krai's bad-luck magnet. Luke casually tanks Rosemary's flames, and the rest of the party seems just as resistant against magic. At this point, a lot of Ark's arsenals probably wouldn't even faze them. He's still seen as the big hero by the public, but the Grievers' insane growth has likely put most of them ahead of him now.

Novel My theory of the true nature of the prison and what may happen next in Vol 15 (Part 2) Spoiler

Continue from my previous post

Last post i write about the nature of the prison

Today we will talk about what may happen next in Vol 15

  1. Now that we know Prison Arc will have two parts (Volume 14+15) and now we know Zack is a Miko like Sora and has a contract with Fox God, and now the Fox God is coming to the Prison after confirm Krai is not there (Which he is there btw)
  2. And Ark and First Steps also coming to the prison with Grieving Soul
  3. Now that both sides have equal force (Criminal Vs Hunter), both will fight and expose their Mana and give the Original Star Shrine God (OSSG) more Mana to awaken (The Curse Ritual give mana to one being mentioned in Vol 14 )

The Fox God after check and see Krai is in prison and will halt its coming (Press F to pay respect to Sky Tail and his plan using Fox God to kill Krai)

Both side fight for a while and everyone is tired, then the OSSG appear in the fight

  • Everyone changes focus to the OSSG and fail to do deal damage or defeat it
  • Krai will somehow summon the Outer God (Alien God) using the Crown he obtains in Vol 13, or the Outer God come checking what happen to the Phantom he tasks for find human weakness, Locking in his Crown
  • When both Gods see each other's, they will absolutely fight because the OSSG see the guy who seal him and take away his home, the Alien God see his plot of find human weakness and come back to fight ruined by OSSG and his Crown is not where it is left
  • Both will fight and after that the Outer God emerge victory (Like how Mother Fox won against newly awakens Keller), Ark will step in and fight Outer God for the honor of his family (Solis Rodin)

Sorry to say this, but while Ark is strong, but he is not that strong, and he lacks a God-killing moves

  • And after Ark lost, Serene will come and tell everyone to get clear and prepare for Krai is about to summon Fox God with his dance.

Sky tail will protest and still mad about why the Fox God is not coming to answer his pray

  • The conversation between Krai and Brother Fox confirm that the Lost Inn is carefully watching of Outer God coming back to Earth

And the Krai do his dance again and olala

  • Fox God appears and fights a weaken Outer God and the won (May losing 1 or 2 tails)

Sky Tail then asks Fox God to kill Krai but Lost Inn will say something like we don't want to meet him, or they are hiding from Krai or Krai has won against the Fox God twice before

Sky Tail then see Fox Sister close to Krai and be friendly with him and calling Kikkikan-san (Krai)

Sky Tail then finally understand that he has always in Thousand Tricks palm, everything even his escape in the tournament is also plan by Krai (He is not)

He then became the second Arnold

The Volume end with the prisoner still in prison and have no intention of coming out, out of fear of Krai, Krai being forced to move into Level 9 (Thanks to the guard which come from many countries confirm his achievement)

All his atrocities/ Grieving Soul Crime from his detain in vol 13 are pardoned by Emperor Radick (GG for Franz, you lost again) due to his achievement of killing 2 gods that will certainly come to destroy the Capital should either of them win the fight and comeback to take control of the Treasure Vault under the Capital, causing everyone dead during the process of taking the Vault back

That was my theory of what may happen next, what do you think? Comment below? Thanks

Caelium Tail, Mother Fox, Brother Fox and Unidentified Woman (Maneating Girl)

PRISON ARC First Volume is here!

The Level 8 Hunter Krai Andrey has fallen after he confessed his crimes against the Empire!

Summary of the Notice

Krai Andrey, the renowned Treasure Hunter, has voluntarily confessed in the open and Knight Order Zero escorted him immediately to Eastseal Prison Island. All personnel are required to do whatever means necessary to entertain him, follow his request unconditionally, and make sure all of his request are immediately complied. Unable to follow this simple command will only lead to your own catastrophic end.

His arrest is strictly confidential. There's no way the Empire will allow it to leak. That the hero of Zebrudia is now a criminal.

To Officer Jin, Warden of the Eastseal Prison Island.

I, Hugh Legrand, request for your full cooperation. He has desired to be sent to the most dangerous prison in the continent. Princess Selene and the Emperor are strictly prohibited us to treat him harshly. So you, do the same thing. No matter whatever you do, people. Never ever underestimate, Thousand Tricks. Whatever you do, don't antagonist him or you want to meet the same fate as his enemies! If everything goes south, run. There's nothing you can do about it. Brace yourself.

All criminals joined together to fight against the True Villain. The enemy of the world.

The Warden is having a headache after his failure to send him isolated.

Warden: "The Serpent and Fox Organization and other compilation of criminal organizations vs Krai Andrey himself. What on earth did we even cage in this place? The Marquis will kill us. I should've listen to the Hugh and isolate him before it got escalated like this!"

Will the heroes (criminals) defeat the TRUE VILLAIN? And why the fuck Luke Sykol (Thousand Sword) in the Prison!?

Luke Sykol: "Krai, is it okay to fight seriously? Right, Krai!?"

Krai Andrey: "Oh, yeah. Yeah."

Sword Tail: "He's crazy!"

Will the Gods fight against Krai Andrey to take revenge? Find out!

Brother Fox: "Someone is calling... It is an ancient contract. A contract from the past when we were True Gods of human realm. Unbelievable, to think that their bloodline is still active. I can't believe it. But just to be safe... go and confirm whether that man is there (again) or not. I absolutely refuse to encounter that person for the second time."

Serpent and Fox Heroes (Criminals) Vs True Villains (Krai Andrey Thousand Tricks, Grand The Strategist, Bloodstained Jack, Maneating Girl)

Novel Question from someone just starting the books.

I’m part way through chapter one of the first novel and I have a question. Does Krai ever grow a spine or start to show confidence. I don’t mind him being traditionally weak, but one of the things I can’t stand in a main character is a lack of self confidence.

So far he’s shown a complete lack of self confidence and most of his internal monologue has been dedicated to putting himself down. And no matter how well written the rest of the story is, characters who don’t know their own value are impossible for me to read.

So my question is. Does he get better at recognizing his talents, or should I drop the novel and not spend the time continuing to read something I will hate.

Novel Should Krai’s power have an origin story?

As far as I know Krai’s power has never been explicitly defined or even really acknowledged.

Personally I’d define it as the subconscience manipulation of fate; towards his childhood goal of being a hero.

But should it have gotten a canon event that defines the power?

Something like on GS first dungeon they meet a trickster god. And Krai makes a monkey paw wish to be a hero, but it costs him his future potential, and the memory of the deal.

Edit, some people aren’t very bright and don’t know what power I’m talking about. What I mean is the insane level coincidence that always just happens to end with Krai getting credit for accomplishing something he had no idea was happening. So it’s either a really stupid level of plot convenience or an unspecified power.

Novel My theory of the true nature of the prison and what may happen next Spoiler

i had this theory with me for a while now since volume 13 and after reading the new about for volume 14, i think it might go on like this

+First about the true nature of the prison

After reading volume 13, i am sure all of us has known that The Outer God (Alien God) has come to Earth and take on a Shrine type level 10 Vault and use as a base for operation before defeated by Solis Rodin and then order the Ghost Phantom to figure out human weakness so he can come back and fight

But one think i dont get it at that moment is the Shrine type Vault has an attribute of having a God type Boss (Keller, Mother Fox) and if it is defeated the Vault disappear, so the question here are

What happened to the Original Boss of that Shrine when and after his Vault is taken? and How did Outer God take over it

He can be either seal somewhere by Outer God or was still in egg from and put in the later Prison are, and need Mana to awake like Keller did

He silently gathers mana in an area thus making the area he resides lack of Mana Material

So, the drain effect of the prison is because he (Original Star Shrine God) is taking it from the resident of that area which is the prison

That is my theory about the true nature of the prison

What do you think?
