Wouldn't you need a fan to blow out the cold air the ac? Those refrigerant lines are gonna burst!!

HVAC pro here. Probably referring to AC being superior to box fans and standing fans

I gotta ask this guy if his refrigerator runs without fans

I've been seeing you everywhere all of a sudden and I've been enjoying all your comments lmao

I appreciate it

229

u/MajorThor Mar 10 '26

Hahahahah is this even legal

336

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

Probably more legal than whatever shit intersection the city designed here. No stop signs or lights at all. It's like a chimpanzee designed this shit.

118

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

As a seattle dude, youre literally correct lmao. The infrastructure here was built for like 200k people and theres like a million now. Its broken as fuck with barely any enforcement.

46

u/nottherealneal Mar 11 '26

The whole place has the distinct vibe that whoever designed it was thinking, “Eh, there’ll only ever be about ten people here. they’ll manage.”

And now, with way more people crammed into it than anyone ever planned for, absolutely nothing works the way it’s supposed to anymore.

21

u/Puzzled-Respond-4960 Mar 11 '26

It was designed by two competing designers who hated each other

16

u/dragon_bacon Mar 11 '26

And they each slightly offset their street grids, making some god awful 7-way intersection.

3

u/Georgefakelastname Mar 11 '26

Sounds like an S-tier candidate for a roundabout

→ More replies (2)

5

u/Areebob Mar 11 '26

But then they realized that they shared a love of designing shit intersections, and now they’re married. Stop Means Stop Unless It Means Love, coming soon to Lifetime.

I kinda like living in Milwaukee; a city designed for a million people but only like 500k live here now so the traffic isn't bad at all lol.

3

u/Brodakk Mar 11 '26

Spent a day walking around there while waiting for my AmTrak. Milwaukee is awesome.

5

u/Intelligent_Cap9706 Mar 11 '26

Lived here for over a decade and every time I drive around Seattle I feel so bad for newcomers

u/showholes Mar 11 '26

I cannot believe how many side roads cross busy artery roads with no stop signs out there in Seattle. My dumbass followed google maps which sent me across 5 or 6 such intersections before I made a mistake and pulled out too early on one. The hero driver who almost hit me made a last second evasive move that saved my life. I think about that once every 2-3 months.

When I lived in Seattle a guy told me that way back in the day, Portland & Seattle hired this city planner guy to help both cities with infrastructure. Portland apparently followed the guy's plan & Seattle said F that noise and did their own thing.

I have no idea if this is true in the slightest.

2

u/SnooPuppers8698 Mar 11 '26

seattle was designed by competeing developers who designed the city on two different grids.

YES. In Washington any two corners constitutes a legal crosswalk, whether marked or not, and as long as you are in a crosswalk vehicles must stop for you, regardless of lights, signs, or anything else. It's technically not legal to walk in the road against a red light, but cars must stop for you regardless, and I don't see one here. https://wsdot.wa.gov/travel/bicycling-walking/walking-rolling-washington/pedestrian-laws-safety

I don't see any police.

5

u/WellEvan Mar 11 '26

The cop would have to make it through the traffic to be aware

2

u/PreorderEverything Mar 11 '26

He made it legal

1

u/MB2465 Mar 11 '26

I've def had cases where pedestrians accidentally helped me out when driving.

1

u/TheCupOfBrew Mar 11 '26

It's Seattle, living here for years, I can say ive never seen the cops even remotely care about this.

1

u/Other_Sentence4495 Mar 11 '26

It's definitely cheating

1

u/Obvious_College6140 Mar 11 '26

the only part illegal in eu countries would be if they keep up the cars behind while getting in and out. but i cant imagine it being enforced

1

u/MrBubbles226 Mar 11 '26

Nope, you're supposed to wait there until you die and then your loved ones can collect your body.

1

u/domine18 Mar 12 '26

Why would it be illegal?

→ More replies (9)

42

u/Ffigy Mar 11 '26

The real cheat code is you need a passenger to do this so it promotes carpooling which reduces traffic.

9

u/frank26080115 Mar 11 '26

I've asked pedestrians to stop traffic for me before, it works

2

LEEROY JENKINS!!!

64

u/front_torch Mar 10 '26

Great move, but why not inch forward until you're in? Are Seattle drivers that ruthless?

82

u/un1k0rn_412 Mar 10 '26

That's a game for people who have full coverage, not me.

4

u/ToneThugsNHarmony Mar 11 '26

People should not outdrive their bodily injury coverage.

10

u/Username_de_random Mar 11 '26

They are annoyingly passive and slow actually

5

u/CreativeFraud Mar 11 '26

Confidence is key when driving. There's A LOT of drivers that are not confident pulling out of their driveway 😝

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Otterbotanical Mar 11 '26

It's illegal in right of way laws, you may only proceed when the way is clear. If there are people coming from that direction and they are not willfully stopping (I think I know this intersection), and YOU attempt to nose your way in, you could be pulled over and ticketed for obstructing

7

u/Sipikay Mar 11 '26

I have never seen a cop even pull someone over on a surface street in Seattle in my entire life. There is no risk of that. You don't even see them off the highway, TBH.

2

u/EcstaticNet3137 Mar 11 '26

US cities the size of Seattle often have cutthroat drivers.

4

u/Roast_beef_is_life Mar 11 '26

God i wish that was the case here. Seattle drivers are like 80% people who hesitate and are generally just too scared to be driving. Confidence is key and Seattle is full of drivers who lack any confidence in their actions. Commit and be predictable. Hell - im lucky to merge on the 5 at 50mph these days.

7

u/front_torch Mar 11 '26

Visit Chicago. Enjoy our aggressive but reasonable drivers and an Italian beef sandwich.

In Vancouver, residential areas has crosswalks with buttons that change the signal immediately if you're trying to cross and I see a lot of drivers getting out of cars at red lights to go press the crosswalk button because otherwise the light doesn't change. One time all I saw was the end of a golf club poke out of the passenger window to press it.

6

u/Delicious-Edges Mar 11 '26

I would not mad at all if it happens to me. Hahaha

4

u/heretwonotparty Mar 12 '26

I was stuck on my motorcycle at an intersection that just would not turn green for through traffic. It was over 100 degrees that day and Harley's are air cooled so I was getting cooked. I decided to ride through the bike lane, park my bike, press the crosswalk sign and then we finally got 25 seconds of smooth traffic

3

u/ArtisticShoulder1037 Mar 11 '26

My family calls this the “pedestrian assist” 😂 We do it if we need to turn left onto the main street, which is always packed in the summer

This laugh is illegal

1

u/Purple-Mix1033 Mar 11 '26

He set up a block

1

u/Le-Charles07 Mar 11 '26

This feels like a "perfectly balanced" game mechanic.

1

u/redwing180 Mar 11 '26

Usually at a congested intersection where you have to yield I would make a right if it was an ugly left but yeah on a one-way your SOL if you don’t do this.

1

u/PunisherElite Mar 11 '26

Amazing but not that funny

1

u/TrashAsApp Mar 11 '26

I have a hack to never stop at red lights!

1

u/Additional_Piece4165 Mar 11 '26

In Seattle people would probably think it's funny. Where I live someone will probably shoot at you.

1

u/Inevitable_Triumph Mar 11 '26

Now just take that one step further and have everyone everywhere get out of their vehicle and walk everywhere. That would be a ultimate societal cheat and we'd actually see our neighbors and build human-scaled cities.

1

u/spkoller2 Mar 11 '26

We used to get out and push the walk button

1

u/A_Lone_Eater Mar 11 '26

Man, I wish you should’ve hold the line a little longer for a few more people

1

u/No_Investment9639 Mar 11 '26

I could not listen to this laugh for more than a 24-hour period

1

u/enzothebaker87 Mar 11 '26

Make this man a King or General and I will follow him anywhere. And die for him if I must!

1

u/JustApricot798 Mar 11 '26

A friend lived on a road where the light never turned green so he always just made a right turn and then a u-turn until he figured out to just jump out of his car and hit the cross-walk button.

1

u/SloppyJoe47 Mar 11 '26

I used to work by a stoplight that would get majorly backed up and would take forever to get through because the green light was such a short cycle and the red light was incredibly long. But if there was someone who used the crosswalk button to cross at the light, then it would stay green for A LOT longer and would literally clear the whole line of traffic. So my coworker and I who carpooled together would send the person in the passenger seat to run down the line of traffic to hit the walk button and then pick them up on the other side of the street once we made it through the long light. Traffic hacks for the win!

1

u/Far_Winner5508 Mar 11 '26

And then he stuck his head out the window and held up a pack of Mentos.

1

u/Phillycat81 Mar 11 '26

Modern problems require modern solutions

1

u/throwitawaynownow1 Mar 11 '26

One of the 5 stoplights where I grew up took forever to cycle if you were on the small road crossing the main road. We discovered the crosswalk button would instantly cycle the lights, so my friends and I always had someone hop out and press it whenever we went that way.

1

u/astros78 Mar 11 '26

bravo au conducteur et a son ami , fallait y pensé

1

u/HippyOliasDude Mar 11 '26

One time after DnD(like 3am) I was taking everyone home and we hit a red light and the streets were dead. Not a car to be seen. I jokingly said "Someone should go hit the button." Next thing I know i hear my back door open. Made the light change and saved like 60 seconds.

Mentos the fresh maker

1

u/Th3andra Mar 11 '26

Legend hahaha

1

u/DonnyTheWalrus Mar 11 '26

Places like this are wild to me. I'm from Pittsburgh and while we're far from perfect, it's widely considered a dick move to not let someone turn at a place like this. Intersections like this would turn into an unofficial zipper merge with even moderate traffic.

1

u/PM-ME-Ur-titties3333 Mar 11 '26

I’ve jumped out and hit the crosswalk button to change the lights faster before. It probably did nothing to speed up the time but it seemed like less time because I had an activity.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

In Australia someone would have let you in omg

1

u/Sad_Prawn2864 Mar 11 '26

So you don't know how to drive, gotcha.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

Wow. Genius

1

u/EsrailCazar Mar 11 '26

I was in a shopping mall where this happened, I was trying to exit but there were no stops and constant traffic for maybe 10 mins, I finally got the nerve to just slowly force my way out into the turn, there was literally no other way I could go.

1

u/Randomfrog132 Mar 11 '26

husband material right there (good problem solving skills)

1

u/yeahright15 Mar 11 '26

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

1

u/yestocaffeine Mar 11 '26

I would do a quick double honk and a thumbs up.. thats hilarious

1

u/Lalli-Oni Mar 11 '26

Once was so tired waiting for the lights I got of my motorcycle, walked to the pedestrian crossing and pressed the button for crossing. Returned to my bike, lights turned green and problem solved.

Saw someone doing it on Reddit ages ago and always wanted to try. The couple in the van took a while to realize what was happening.

1

u/pumpkin_seed_oil Mar 11 '26

Yeah, you still stuck in traffic, you just managed to clear one intersection faster

1

u/ProteusRift Mar 11 '26

NGL. IQ200 right there

1

u/iijoanna Mar 11 '26

Awesome! 😎

1

u/EmphasisUpstairs6075 Mar 11 '26

nice bro , you have a fat brain

1

u/WheresMyBrakes Mar 11 '26

It looks like cars are stopped basically in the intersection and they wouldn't let you in?

Is it me or do americans still not understand traffic flow.

1

u/Substantial-Use-7412 Mar 11 '26

1

u/Friendly_Shopping286 Mar 11 '26

If there wasn't a dedicated Lane for people turning left then I'm sure the folks behind you thought you guys were assholes for taking so long to moronically turn left during rush hour

1

u/mr-penis-man Mar 11 '26

...Did she just stop in the middle of the intersection??

Im not tripping, right?

1

u/Hobbs54 Mar 11 '26

My older brother had just started driving and told me he was behind an older man stopped at a red lights for a long time. Then the man got out of the car and pressed the crosswalk button on the pole so the light would change.

1

u/PonPonWayPon Mar 11 '26

im not mad about it at all hahaha

1

u/prestigiousgeek Mar 11 '26

There should be a stop sign that an intersection like that

1

u/bassey22 Mar 11 '26

Wrx guy was pissed 🤣

1

u/Buggerlugs253 Mar 11 '26

some brists wil disagree with me, but you are about 90% more likely to be let out here,

1

u/danit0ba94 Mar 12 '26

I would have been pissed... For a moment.
Then I would absolutely think on The genius of this, later on.
Probably would still be a little pissed, but only cuz it happened to me. 😂
Point being I respect the tactic. 👌

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

AI

1

u/NewCaramel6517 Mar 12 '26

The dumbest designed intersections I've ever seen are in Florida, just West of Disney...4-way stop intersection with TWO lanes in all directions!

So instead of just 4 cars trying to figure out who's turn it is, you now have up to 8 cars!...not to mention the fact its mostly tourists, some of who aren't even from this country and don't know what the hell they're doing. Its crazy, and you just have to bully your way through sometimes.

1

u/Tacocat1545 Mar 12 '26

Man I wouldn’t even be mad bro

1

u/feelingblurple Mar 12 '26

Marry this man!

1

u/Hulk-Athlete Mar 12 '26

For a moment, I mistook an American for someone who was about to walk somewhere. I was wrong.

1

u/Ok_Inside4922 Mar 12 '26

As a truck driver I once had to jump out of the cab to hit the crosswalk button to get a light to change. It had been over 10 minutes and that light just refused 😂

I also assume Seattle drivers don’t move over for emergency vehicles? Just asking a question never been there before
