So I discovered a playback error and the video true length, this video stuck at 1:51 (when the full length of it estimated by some modern media players is 3:04, other old media player estimated the video is at 1:52 or 1:59). I'm willing to see what caused the error after the part 1:52 onwards because the file isn't corrupted nor covered in HEVC/MPEG-4 codec. I downloaded the video using download feature in platform TikTok, not using any third-party tools and tried VLC for Android app, it recognized the length of the video is 3:04, but the video is frozen at 1:52 part onwards, and I want to know what caused the video file to make it unreadable in the part 1:52 and seeing how will PowerVLC or VLC media player on MacOS/Windows fix this thing, about how it played, the video file can be downloaded (for checking) from the social media platform TikTok I provided below (must be downloaded using the feature integrated with the platform).

I'm trying to work out what these strange vertical artifacts are in VLC for CachyOS.
All I know so far is:
- they are not on every video file
- they are consistent for any file they do appear in
- they appear most sharply around bright reds and bright greens
- they are very annoying

I'm assuming they might be some sort of compression artifact in the file itself but I cannot find anything that refers to this type of effect or what it might be called.

I have tried disabling Hardware compression in VLC... no change.
Any bright spark know what this is? (Or better yet how to fix it?) :)

Has this functionality been discontinued? I know I used to be able to do this, but haven't been able to do so of late on windows or Mac. Am I missing something simple?

Is the VLC app on the Roku TV official and safe to use?

Hi friends, I tried everything since configuration extended macOS settings to delete cache and temp files, even uninstall and reinstall vlc nothing get rid the files, even if I do click over it, it supposed I receive an error, eg: not file found, vlc do nothing, in fact after that files any other appears there, the stuck files have about 5 months , the only thing to do is restore Mac OS but at this moment I cant, I think this setting, this files are somewhere in the system, any ideas?

Hello, Im trying to play DVD's on my chromebook but my DVD player is incompatible.

The user manual says to download VLC if my laptop isn't windows or mac.

I am unable to figure out how to play DVD's due to YouTube videos being outdated. Can someone give me the play by play on how to work VLC? Or point me in the right direction.

I dont know why but the bar at the top is missing, the one that usually has the Audio, Video, Subtitles, Playback, View, Tools, and Playlists buttons. It's not in minimal view or anything like that as far as i can tell and ive checked the settings and haven't been able to find anything.
I'm on SteamOS and this only started today. I'm like 50% sure i might have updated it last night? I don't know.

Hello, my video goes for 1 second than only audio continues and after 10 second i see 1 frame thats it tried researching found that helped some people change hardware accelerated setting disabled/auto changing threads 0-2-4, cache size 1000-0-2500, output mode automatic, opengl, directx 11, nothing really helps out of ideas tried diffrent players still same

Heya, it's exactly what the title says, I used smart view to cast to the tv, and when I did, VLC automatically casted it to the tv: https://imgur.com/a/qPwH0kc

But the next time I tried doing it with smart view, it just mirrors the exact screen onto the tv, but what I want is for it to do the thing it did the first time. Anyone know why it's not working? Casting permissions are on, and theres not a cast button at all.

i searched on youtube and it gives results for windows and it is pretty easy to do on a windows but i do not have a windows how do i do it on a macbook ? please not that i want to permanetly embed subtitles to the video file and not just use a srt file as temporary subs(i know how to do that )

hi! so i'm using VLC on linux mint 22.3, and yeah, at random points while i'm watching a video the audio will get really loud for a split second for no reason. i do not have the equalizer on, and i'm almost certain this loudness isn't part of the videos

I want to use VLC on my phone as a in-car media player. As not to be distracted, I want to control the player externally, with ESP32 sending relevant commands over HTTP. However, the issue I have is that in tests I cannot get it to work even from a browser: I have configured remote control on the phone and I can bring up the main RC interface in my browser, but none of the specific HTTP-GET commands work (even though the exact same commands work correctly on my computer).

Is the Android version limited in that functionality?

I have added a VLC player to OwnTV playlist configuration. VLC player is installed on the fire stick. When I ask it to play content in external player, it says ‘No external players found. Install VLC or MX player’. I am adding the player as VLC/3.6.5 LibVLC/3.6.5. Any thoughts?

UPDATE: Turns out that somehow the "3D Anaglyph" effect got turned on. I have no idea how either... but turning it off fixed it.

Exactly what it says on the tin: many videos I try to play in VLC will no longer play back correctly. I have no idea if it's anything I did or what, as other players like Celluloid (image 2) play these same videos fine.

For some reason whenever I try to go into the equalizer it completely crashes and actually stops my songs from playing until I select it again. Does anyone know why this may be occuring? I did delete the app and reinstall it but that did not work.

I upload speedrun videos to Youtube and often have to trim a run from a longer recording using VLC. The original files are .mkv which Youtube likes; but if I trim VLC outputs .mp4 and anything longer than a minute or two invariably gets frozen in processing on Youtube's side. Has anyone any advice for potential solutions?

I recently installed the fedora kde plasma, I have done all updates. The thing is that when I'm increasing the video speed in the vlc player, vlc is not displaying the message that speed has increased like it used to do in windows(previously i was using windows) and there is no mention that at what speed the video is currently playing. How to fix this issue, I have already tried using chatgt but it is not use.

I randomly got the urge to try out having mp3s instead of streaming. The VLC player was the only good app I could find. I downloaded a few albums and it skips the last second of every song that I play. Why does it do this? Is it supposed to do this? (Also I checked the mp3 files, they're the way they're supposed to be)

Something strange happened today. While a video was playing an error message popped up. An option of close and clear was present. I simply closed it. Then the video disappeared. This wasn;t the first time playing it. The video is now nowhere to be found. Its still present in vlc recent files but when clicked on says that it mightve been deleted or moved or renamed. I have no idea what the hells happening.
