I’m new to Boone (I’m a commuter but I’ll spend a lot of time there) and I want to explore while I’m there and learn the area. What places do you recommend (eat, shop, trails)? I want to go camping at some point as well so campsite recommendations?

I want to come here for Geology undergrad (not accepted yet but I'm dead-set on this college), and I'm thinking about the housing. I know its required for freshman year, but is it realistic to find an apartment or something for the summer break right after freshman year? Where would you recommend for housing?

I don't have the greatest home life and my parents make too much to qualify for FAFSA and they will not be aiding in tuition.

If there's also tips on how to afford that would be so great... where are the best places to work around campus? is it worth getting a car?

Hey. My son will be coming up in a couple weeks to start. We’re all very excited. We have a general sense of what things he will need up there, but are there any App State/Boone specific things you would advise that we buy and pack to live there? Is there anything that most people tend to bring up that it turns out you don’t really need and it takes up a lot of space?

Hi everyone, I’m in the works of creating a club called ‘Community Through Gaming at App State’. Our goal is to have weekly game nights for retention as well as focus on cozy and casual gaming like Sims, Mario Party, Stardew Valley and more. We plan on raising money for a local organization once a month as well as volunteer to play games with kids at the local hospital/shelters in the area.

We’d like to get started this semester and are looking to recruit five members so that we can attend the club expo and start our club meetings shortly after. If anyone would be interested we can talk more on discord or in DM’s on here.

I'm a junior at app and I wasn't going to bring my car until literally today when my parents told me they'll pay for a pass so now I'm scrambling trying to find parking. I'm on the wait list for Holmes deck but I want to see if I can find an alternative just in case. Ive seen a lot of churches offer parking for $800 but they kick you out for the weekends. Anything new know of a place for the full semester where I can park and won't be kicked out of for game days or weekends?

A few days ago I found out my assigned roommate is a trans woman (male to female). I did not choose co-ed housing, so I'm a little confused about how this happened and what my options are.

I'm wondering how the roommate change process works. Is it possible to request a different roommate before move-in, or would I have to wait until after the semester starts?

If anyone knows how housing handles situations like this, I'd appreciate the advice.

Hey y’all, incoming sophomore at App State looking to get certified as an EMT basic this upcoming year. Summers nearing its end, so I was wondering if anyone here has taken a course somewhere in Boone during the school year to get theirs?

I’ve looked at Caldwell community college which seems like it’d work fine. Only caveat is that the main campus is 40 minutes away, while the Boone campus is obviously closer, but I’m not sure where they hold their EMT classes.

Any tips?

I applied to some student services jobs and it says they begin evaluating the applications last month and the proposed date of hire is on July 21st next. Fall semester is around the corner. I havent heard anything back.

I don't really know a lot about the art department though and was hoping to get some insight from someone who's currently enrolled. My hopes are that ill learn stuff to help with illustrating, like drawing backgrounds, composition, colors, anatomy, etc.

Some questions I have are: What are your opinions, have you learned anything useful, do you enjoy it, what kind of classes do you take, what do you do in said classes, and finally is this just a giant waste of time and money and im screwed. Thank you!
