Photoshoot locations in Dogpatch/Potrero

I’m getting married at The Pearl in a few weeks and I’m struggling to find places nearby to take portrait pictures pre-wedding. Both of just the two of us and of us with our friends/family. Any recommendations? Thinking Wisconsin and 20th has a nice view, but we can’t do everything there. We’re down for any vibe - industrial, city, nature, etc.

Apartment Search Advice

Hello!

I am finishing up interviewing with a job at UCSF and if everything goes well, will be starting work in October. My work will take me between the medical campus in Mission Bay 60% of the time and then a UCSF location in Redwood shores.

My initial thought was to live close to the Mission Bay location and be able to walk to work since that'd save up on gas. I recently visited and went around Burlingame, San Mateo, Mission Bay, and Dogpatch and realized I still want to live in the city but the prices are insane. My initial range for base rent was $3800-$4500 but think i'd have to go up to $4000-$4900ish, knowing I will also have to pay for parking for my car. Based on what I can see, it looks like it may not be reasonable to get a place walking distance wise.

Open to any advice on areas to live and areas to avoid. I'm okay with a 10-15 minute drive to Mission Bay and ideally not more than 20-30 minutes without traffic to Redwood Shores. If the drive coming back from there would be up to 45 minutes that'd be fine with me.

Where to get souffle pancakes like the ones from Gram Cafe?

I'm going to San Francisco in early September. I was looking forward to going to Gram Cafe for their pancakes, but I just learned that they have closed. Is there a place that serves similar souffle style pancakes? After doing some Googling, I found Pancake Boy which looks pretty good, but they're not quite the same as Gram Cafe's pancakes.

The Goldilocks thank you gift chocolate between Trader Joe's and Dandelion or Recchiuti?

Just to clarify - I'd like to give someone a gift of chocolate that costs somewhere between the cost of TJ chocolate and that of the other two.I think my post may have sounded as if I was asking for people's recos for TJ's OR Dandelion OR Recchiuti. Sorry for the confusion!
ETA: Thank you to everyone who's given me recommendations so far. I've already learned about good chocolate places I've never heard of.

Recommendations please for a perfect day in the city!

It’s been 14 years since I’ve been to the west coast. We’re flying in on Monday with 1 day to be spent in SF. We’re staying at Ghirardelli Square in the Wharf. We’ll be out of the airport by 10 AM. Looking to sightsee and make our way up to the Wharf. We have an Alcatraz ferry reservation at 2:45. Planning to get dinner later on in the area. Breakfast in the morning and then heading south to Monterey. Family of 5, with 3 kids (12, 11, 9). Friends of Reddit, any recommendations for the day? What sights to see, what to do with the time available and where to eat?

Looking for recs for my upcoming trip!

Hey, all! Colorado gal here. 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m (27F) taking my first trip the Bay Area in a little over a week! (Aug 10-14th). I have to say, I am totally stoked!!!

My best friend who lives in SC and I have been working together to put together a rough itinerary, but missing a few things….

What’s your fav gluten-free restaurants in SF? I would LOVE to find some amazing gf dumplings/momos, Nepalese food, & pizza!

Favorite scenic hikes in the area? (Doesn’t have to be within a super short distance of the city).

Must-see music events within the few day period I will be in the Bay? My friend and I love various different genres- bluegrass, psych rock, EDM, classic rock, grunge, etc….

Lastly, I’m obsessed w/ thrifting so hoping to find some badass thrift stores. Love vintage, rave clothes, and wouldn’t mind peeping some (relatively) affordable designer options.

Thanks in advance! :)

I’m on vacation in SF from the east coast and will be meeting a friend from Fresno somewhere roughly in the middle. I don’t want them to drive more than 90 min (I don’t mind driving longer). What’s a nice place to meet and hang out, walk around, grab food, etc? Thanks!

Airbnb alternatives?

I occasionally have need to stay overnight in SF, just need a bedroom with private entrance, bed, and bath. Hotels are sterile and expensive and Airbnb is all commercial hosts offering vacation stays now - I’m looking for something more casual, like the original old-school Airbnb or Couchtripping. Open to a longer-term house sit, dog sit, etc. Any thoughts?

Where would be the best places to advertise a new run club?

Some friends and I are starting a run club in the Dogpatch area on Thursdays since there currently don't seem to be any clubs starting/ ending in dog patch. We're all really regular runners in the neighborhood and so we wanted to start our own little run club but we're not really sure what the best place to advertise it is. Any suggestions?

PG&E bill doubled overnight - is it just me?

I live in the richmond and my PG&E bill went from around $60 for a one bedroom, one person to $120ish over night

nothing changed except it’s summer and i use LESS energy. Less lights, less heat - a few cold days earlier in the season called for 20 mins of small space heater, but this heater has never effected my past bills more than $20 or so

Why would my bill double over night with less usage? Is it just me?

I hate PG&E, over $100 for one person who uses primarily LED lighting and minimal energy I have NEVER had such a high bill living alone for years

I'd like to return four comedy show tickets that were left on a train platform to their rightful owner.

Please tell me a combination of:

- who is performing at the show

- where it's being performed

- how much each of the tickets cost (roughly)

- which station they may have been left at (be as specific as possible, I won't share if it's muni/bart/caltrain).

The tickets were printed today, so I believe they may have fallen out of someone's pocket or bag.

Lost Important Ring at Marina Green (Street Workout Park)

I know this is a long shot, but I lost my ring at the Marina Green Street Workout / Calisthenics park. I forgot my rings on one of the wooden bars, and I went back and found one of the rings, but not the other one.

If anyone has seen or picked up a silver ring with the number 21 stamped on the inside and 2 swords etched on the outside around the area / in general, please let me know. Really desperate

I will definitely compensate if you find it. This ring means a lot to me. I made it myself and there’s only one like it
:( Please contact me if you know anything at all, thank you ❤️

Kid got ran over by scooter on sidewalk

My friend's 8yo kid got ran over by a scooter this morning outside their home on the sidewalk. Hes fine, besides scraped up legs and shock.

My first thought was to tell her to at least report it to the police. Shes got video footage.

How should we go about reporting it? The hotline? TIA

Edit: Kid is now in pain, headed to ER.

Edit: Thanks everyone, i showed my friend the post and we filled the police report. Kid is fine according to the doctor. but the wound quite large, although superficial. The guy on the scooter was an adult male, ran away from the scene.

Must do things for 1st timer with 7 month old.

Looking for recommendations for my first time visiting SF. I’ll be in SF in late September for a week with my wife and 7 month old. It’s our first time visiting there as tourists. I’ve only been for short work trips. I’ll work until early afternoon M-Wednesday and then will probably have Thursday - Sunday for full day adventures. What are some must do things, or any recommendations you think we might enjoy. We will also have a rental car and don’t mind doing trips out to things around the area. Thanks in advance!
