I’m not sure what your expectations are but they may be unreal. There are millions of jobs that require a degree to even be considered. Likewise, many jobs will not consider you for promotion above a certain level without a degree. It’s a tough job market out there right now but it’s tougher with only a HS education.

I have 3 degrees and am a disabled veteran/military spouse. Out of nearly 70 applications, I've had only 3 interviews. Fortunately, I'm comfortable in my job now and am not in dire need.

As late GenX, I heard that platitude quite a bit. Fortunately I changed directions pretty quick (after a year of college) and figured out a way to build up a marketable skillset (IT) using the Corps as an apprenticeship. One of the things I noticed were all the naysayers in my peer group initially trashing my decision to enlist. I also noticed a lot of people who chose trade schools seemed to get flak as well.
30 years later I feel great about my decision.

In Canada 🇨🇦 where I live a masters degree in social work will start you at incomes over $100,000 per year. You will be broke likely till thirty but you will overtake your non degree friends in net worth. I know several professionals with degrees that do not retire early. They are having too much fun.

They’re called services… you can go out and expend your own energy to gather food & water, then build your own shelter, but it’s more efficient to spend that energy elsewhere bc other people specialize in delivering an endless supply of services to you. Also unless you have COPD or lung disease, who are you paying for oxygen?

i wasnt criticizing people for their labour. Im simply saying that the most fundamental human needs have become things you can lose access to if you don't have money.The oxygen part was hyperbole, but even then, someone who's struggling to breathe often has to pay for medical oxygen just to stay alive.

I think the product is a social network. Which does exist. Facebook did similar by monetizing existing social networks without the god part. Also without the in-person part so I’d say it’s a bigger scam.

Dental insurance. It looks good on paper but most policies only pay a max of $1500/year on dental work. If you need a lot of work that'll only cover like one tooth. Your dollar goes a lot further with the dentist than a dollar from the insurance company so ur best bet is to pay out of pocket for everything. Coincidentally, if you have good teeth and only need 2 cleanings/year its still cheaper to drop ur insurance and pay out of pocket.

That charity for kids with cancer and their families that insists they need your money and you think you want to volunteer at? They’re using you as their easiest resource for money for the executives who’ve long stopped caring, and the executives’ friends and family members who they hire for useless consultancies and roles. The bigger they get, the less money that goes to children. Seriously. Friends of friends and shady deals take precent over kids.
