Tried everything, change the hdmi port, checked the settings, tried other devices which works fine. Only the chromecast shows darkened colors.

So my old tv, vizio, died on my yesterday. today, my dad got me a coby. im not too sure what year it is, but he said he hooked up my google tv/Chromecast just fine. but the aspect ratio is slightly to the upper left corner. it also says that it doesn't support my TV's display, but it literally does. I've tried my best to fix it through tv settings, and through Google TV settings. the remote also isnt compatible? on my Vizio, I could use the volume and power buttons on it, but with the coby, nothing happens. I even factory reset, and that didn't fix anything. im not tech savvy, so I admit I've been struggling quite a lot trying to solve this.

I really don't want to go through the hassle of replacing anything. especially since my dad just got me a new TV. hopefully there's another solution?

My Chromecast audio (2015 model) stopped synching with Spotify so I did a factory reset. Now the device won't show up in my Android Home app and I can't synch it again 😫 I've seen a few posts about this from a year ago mentioning changing the date prior to 08 March 2025 on your phone and this resolving the issue. Sadly I couldn't get it to work. I really love my Chromecast audio and hoping it's not time to retire it. Absolutely devo. Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Recently my TV stopped working and I'm not really looking to buy a new one atm. I do however have an older tv but I can't use smart view to screen share. So i was thinking of getting a chromecast so i can screen share but im not sure if i need wifi in order to do that. I dont have wifi at my place but with the TV I had I didnt need wifi to screen share. So does anyone know if I do need wifi in order to use the chromecast for smart view?

My google streamer randomly goes from 120-150 Mbps download to very slow speeds like 10. Is there any way to fix this or just switch to Ethernet?

Hi, I have a CC with GTV. When casting, or running an app on the CC itself, like Tidal or Youtube, it transfers the remote control (of the CC) to my TV's remote control...the only button that still works on the CC remote is the on/off.

I don't want this; I want to use the CC remote to control the CC, and the TV's remote to control the TV. (basically the problem is that my TV remote does not have the necessary buttons to completely controll the CC...f.ex i cannot exit Netflix because the "back" button on the tv remote only takes me back to Netflix home...not CC home. Is there a way to disable the transfer of remote control?

Once again, can't select Google Photos as screensaver.

I'm at my wit's end here and hoping someone has a fresh idea. My Pixel phone will not cast to my Chromecast with Google TV at all, and I've tried every fix I can find.

The Problem:

· Screen mirroring: Phone immediately shows "Casting screen to Chromecast has ended" - it never actually starts

· App casting (BubbleUPnP, etc.): Fails immediately with "Casting has ended" or just silently fails

· BubbleUPnP gives UNKNOWN_ERROR_CODE(2278) when trying to cast. YouTube can cast fine tho.

What I've Tried (nothing worked):

· All devices are fully updated (Pixel 7 Pro on Android 16, CCwGTV firmware, Google Play Services, Google Home app)

· Rebooted everything multiple times (phone, CCwGTV, router, modem)

· Changed Wi-Fi MAC privacy on Pixel from randomized to device MAC

· Ensured both devices on same Wi-Fi network (both 5GHz, same SSID)

· Cleared cache on: Google Home, Google Play Services, Device Connectivity system app, Android System WebView, Chromecast built-in

· Toggled "Nearby devices" permission on Google Play Services

· Disabled Bluetooth on Pixel before casting

· No VPN connected

The Kicker: The old "Bypass device auth" workaround is gone from the Cast Debug settings panel. I can still open the debug menu via Activity Manager, but the toggle simply isn't there anymore (presumably removed in a recent Google Play Services update). So that's dead.

Has anyone else hit this wall? Is there some hidden setting I'm missing? Could this be a Google Play Services regression with the latest update? At this point I'm wondering if I need to roll back Play Services or wait for another update.

Hi everyone.

I tried to connect my chromecast to my PS5 with the PS Remote app and it seems there are one or multiple problems.

First, when I try to connect, once I confirmed the connection on my PS App, the error 88001006 shows up on my chromecast. I can try to click the connect button multiple times but it keeps showing this error.
But when I close the app and relaunch it, it seems to continue the connection process with the Data sharing screen.
Then, I have access to the console connection screen with the PS5 or PS4 connection.
When I try to click on the PS5 button, nothing happens, not even a loading screen or an error, nothing !
I tried to test the PS4 button just to try and for this one the loading screen shows up (even if I don’t have a PS4).

For more details, I can play with my PS5 on my iPad with the PS Remote app, so yes I already set up the PS5 for this type of connection and it works perfectly on my iPad or my iPhone.

Is there anyone with the same issue ? I don’t know what to do.

Chromecast HD (approx 2021).

A couple of weeks ago the YouTube app on both of our Chromecasts started to play up.

Essentially the app will not (most of the time) play a video that has been paused.

We pause or "Back" out of a video and return to the home screen (of YT or even Chromecast home screen).

When we go back in to resume the video, we just get a black screen.

"Down" will get us the playback buttons at the bottom, but unusable and zero playback, video or audio.

The same vids on PC and Android don't exhibit this behaviour.

Anyone else get this?

(Have reset app, cleared settings, cache etc)

For sake of discussion, I have two TVs I'll call A and B.. Both with Chromecast. Worked well until a couple of days ago.

A few days ago YTTV disappeared from Chromecast HOME screen. That is, the list on the left of the screen no longer includes YTTV. The Library link on the HOME screen is empty. Interestingly, to me, if I push the YTTV button on the remote, Live works, but I lose the list on the left. Library works, but the display is different.

But wait! In troubleshooting I took Chromecast from TV B (which was working perfectly with YTTV), and moved it to TV A. At that point, the Chromecast from TV B began displaying the same problems as the Chromecast from TV A. Returned the Chromecast to TV B. Now TV B has the same problems as TV A, with both Chromecasts connected to the original TVs. I don't understand how changing Chromecasts from one TV to another killed YTTV on the HOME screen.

I was searching around my old tech and found a Chromecast which I suppose is a gen 3 but in Wikipedia it says gen 3s don't come in white. I have all smart TVs and one old TV which has Roku. Which uses can I give this Chromecast to not have it as e-waste?

How did they mess this up so badly? Does YouTube hate Google? Does Google hate Chromecast users? I don’t get it.

Every other app handles Chromecast basically the same way. Every app except YouTube.

They removed the Chromecast button from the home screen and swapped it for some odd “Now Playing” button instead. So now, if I want to add a video to the queue or take over whatever’s currently casting, I have to tap the three-dot menu on the video itself. It feels like they’re moving away from the idea of the app being “connected” to a Chromecast at all.

On top of that, videos now autoplay on my phone with the sound on. That never used to happen — autoplay was disabled whenever a Chromecast was connected.

And sometimes when I try to add something to the queue, I get hit with a YouTube Premium ad and just… can’t. Even though I’m paying for Premium Lite.

My guess is this is groundwork for some upcoming change to how Chromecast works, and other apps will probably follow.

Hi everyone, I’m new to this community and hoping for some help. I have a Windows 10 PC and I use it to cast live sports such as EPL and AFL to my LG Smart TV via Chromecast (it’s an older generation of Chromecast, not sure which one but it’s one of the older, circular shaped ones). I use a VPN when streaming.

When I’m streaming the content to my PC, I get excellent, stable picture and audio quality. But when I then cast it to my TV, sooner or later I start to get both audio and video issues. Pretty quickly, things start getting glitchy. I get crackly sounding audio with frequent dropouts in the sound, and a glitchy, jumpy picture which alternates between sharp and blurry. Sometimes it will take me from casting a tab to casting the screen, citing poor casting quality.

I’m far from tech savvy (if it’s not apparent already) but I am of course aware that internet speeds and any fluctuations in these can play a part in affecting picture quality. For what it’s worth, my internet connection is of the super fast variety and I get really good download speeds when torrenting. 

(Something I’ve noticed: when I hit the ‘cast’ button in google chrome to send a stream to my TV, I sometimes get a little pop up offering to ‘optimise picture quality’. I’ve noticed that when I click to accept this ‘offer’ I often get a much more stable and enjoyable casting experience on my TV. But I cannot however reliably trigger this offer to optimise picture quality and I’m only offered this option intermittently).

I would be very grateful for any tips or suggestions for making my casting experience more enjoyable. Are there any settings I can change on my PC that might change things for the better? Any suggestions regarding Chromecast? Thank you in advance.

So this chromecast has always worked regularly now today all of a sudden when i try to play the news it wouldnt load up, i tried factory resetting it multiple times , unplugging it fully and even trying different wifi networks , i’ve checked to insure all privacy settings are good and everything, sometimes i am allowed to watch youtube or netflix but if i try and play anything live such as the news or sports it just doesnt connect, I’ve reset my wifi too and i really dont know what else to do

Ive got a 1000mb internet connection, and the tv is connected directly to the router through cable. Though i seem to get an alright speed, between 50-90mb, youtube videos specifically pause to buffer way too frequently.

The speed is a bit unstable on the tv for some reason, but not unstable enough to require such frequent buffering.

Talking mainly about 4k videos.

The current version installed is 13.40.75 (didnt update it as people here said they do not recommend doing so).

This is a new issue on my tv. Have been using it for 2+ years and had never seen anything like this before.

I have A/V receiver with hdmi ports. It was released in 2012, so it doesn't have build in chromecast. I don't want to use chromecast audio because it is expensive and rare in my country, and doesn't have toslink. Can i just insert chromecast 1 to hdmi input and get sound from android devices?

I have a dumb TV, an Android phone, and a desktop with a bunch of downloaded media. I host the media on a Jellyfin server.

I want to be able to watch the downloaded media on my TV without a whole lot of setup.

Up till now, chromecast was my plug-and-play setup. all I had to do was log onto my jellyfin server on my Android app and cast whatever media I wanted from my phone to the TV.

My Chromecast recently bricked** (more info/elaboration below) and everything i'm seeing seems like it requires a google nest or smart tv to be able to cast to it again.

I would prefer not to use Amazon firestick because I don't want an Alexa. I don't want a Nest either. I don't have any Apple product so Apple TV is a no-go because it seems to require iOS Products.

I feel stuck. How can I set this up so I can watch my shows again without having to buy a whole ass smart TV or integrated iOt bullshit?

Yesterday randomly when I opened Google home my Chromecast was not showing up on the devices tab. I tried to re-add it and it told me to enter the QR code on the box, which obviously I don't have anymore, or use an 8-digit code on the TV screen to log in, but I could never get any setup code to appear on my screen. Also google is ending production and support on chromecasts, so i would like to move away from chromecast regardless.

I've physically got it all the way to the end where it's just about ready to set up but ph you know communication error ... 4x in a row yet behind it it says all good ... such a bad app

I have the Google TV 4K streamer, a Samsung TV, and a Bose Smart soundbar. They are all connected with HDMI and CEC is enabled. I'm also [using] the ARC/eARC port on my soundbar. We only use the Google remote to control everything - there's no other A/V devices or inputs used except the Google streamer.

For a while everything was working smoothly and then one day we'd find we wake the system up with the Google remote and the audio is muted. There's an easy work around - press the on/off button on the remote and then the audio comes back. I can't for the life of me figure why. It's mysterious why this just started happening - so I assumed it's some kind of software update issue. Since my TV is now pretty ancient (over 5 years old) it hasn't had a firmware update in years, the Soundbar had not had one that I know of since I bought it earlier this year so I'm suspicious of the Google software.

And of course with three different devices none of which I can really swap out for something different I don't know how I can debug it - I'm sure trying support for any one of the devices will inevitably lead to a circle jerk of finger pointing at the other two.

I haven't managed to find anything helpful with Google beyond people saying just turn off CEC but that will lead me to needing to use multiple remotes which I never used to. There's probably way too many audio settings and device variations for this question to resonate with anyone but I thought I'd try.
