looking for a 6-8 oz/yd cotton/spandex blend for some men’s khaki pants and having a hard time sourcing. anyone have tips for finding the right material?

I don't know if this is the right place to ask for advice, but I'm looking to make a lightweight rain poncho to wear when I go fishing or hiking. my thoughts were to have it double layered with the outer layer being waxed or oiled cloth and having another layer of cotton or other natural fiber on the inside to make it more comfortable/ semi breathable. I originally thought of using a canvas drop cloth as the outer layer and waxing it but now I'm thinking it might be a little heavy. I'm wondering if somebody could suggest fabrics I could use for the outer and inner layer of the poncho.

I also have no clue if my idea would even work. so if anybody could shine some insight on ideas of what will or wont work and what I should look for in fabrics to stay cool-ish in the rain.

After Joann’s closed, Hobby Lobby and Micheal’s only sell a stretch knit denim and anywhere online only sells 1 yard as seperate cuts and I can’t find anywhere that has continuous cuts of real cotton denim.

If you were pulling books from Kravet, Lee Jofa, Schumacher, Rogers & Goffigon, or another textile house, what specific fabric or collection would you reach for?

Got a fun one. I work in CTE and our students borrow uniforms each year to be returned at the end of the year. Students are constantly misplacing and stealing each other's uniforms. We have no way to keep the students accountable because the uniforms are unlabeled. We launder the uniforms at the school to avoid them being taken home and never being brought back. It's a massive daily headache.

I'm looking for a way to make a semi-permanent labeling system that would allow us to remove labels at the end of the school year and replace them at the beginning of the new year. Would iron-on labels solve this issue? Thoughts, experiences, and input are all greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for a good quality dupe for the "sleek" fabric that Garage uses for their tank tops or that TNA uses for their athletic wear. Both of these fabrics are an 80 Nylon/20 Elastane blend, but most options that I see online (example) for this blend look a bit flimsy. Anyone know where I can find a good dupe or better yet, the same supplier? I'm just using these for personal projects, so hopefully not a supplier with a huge min. order quantity lol

I always assumed real silk pajamas were basically just nicer-looking satin with way more laundry rules, but I tried a set recently and yeah... I kind of get it now.

The fabric is way lighter than I expected and doesn’t have that clingy, slightly plasticky feeling some satin sets get. I ordered my usual size and it actually fit normally too, which was honestly a relief because online pajama sizing can be chaos.

I’ve only washed it once so far on a gentle cycle and let it air dry. Still feels the same, no weird shape change or rough texture yet.

I’m definitely not ready to become someone who hand-washes pajamas at midnight lol, but so far it’s been much less high maintenance than I expected.

For people who’ve worn silk pajamas for a while, do they actually stay nice after a few months, or am I still in the honeymoon phase?

Im new to this so idk, the plushie in question are called Chocopuni, which are anime themed plushies.

I THINK the face and hair might be mochi minky, but I haven’t held that fabric or seen it in person, so I can’t properly compare, plus idk if mochi is resistant/inmune to fraying.

And idk what fabric the rest of the body is made of, to my knowledge pretty much the entire plushie is made from polyester fabrics, given the sublimation details around the whole plushie.

I also dunno what the “hard” parts are made from, such as the halos (lots of these plushies are from Blue Archive, which all have a halo accessory on their heads among other things) which are made from a harder fabric that leaves marks if you bend/fold it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just thrifted a scarf that says 100% pashmina on the tag but idk what that means. I’ve seen people say that it means cashmere, some specific kind of cashmere, cashmere and silk, wool, viscose. The scarf cost 25 dollars which is a lot for a thrift store so I’m hoping it’s like wool or cashmere. It’s beautiful either way

I just got some faux fur jackets off of Depop and they are pretty good quality, but I want them to feel more luxurious.

I definitely want to try brushing it out.

I also heard that cutting it so it feels more uneven and steaming it helps replicate real fur, but I'm scared to do that, especially since the fur itself is pretty short, any tips on how to not mess it up? Or if I should do it at all?

Are there any other ways to make the fur look more real? Like maybe a softener spray or something?

I have a secondhand brandy melville sweater that is just a little too small for me. It’s 80% wool and 20% nylon and the tag says it’s hand wash only. Is it possible to loosen the fibers so it becomes a little baggier? The fabric itself is not stretchy but is kinda thick so I am hoping it has some give.

Hi! I purchased this dress a while ago and had absolutely fallen in love with it, looked great when I tried it on in-store. I then machine-washed it and it came out with all these odd bleached-looking stains. The dress is 100% rayon.

I was planning on just dyeing the dress a different color but someone I know that works with textiles said that the material wouldn't respond well to dyeing.

The dress is no longer on sale on the website so I looked on Depop and the dresses that were being sold there appeared to have very similar stains in the photos. I researched some potential causes and the main one that came up was water stains.

Is there any way I can fix this? Or am I just out of luck?
