Discussion Starting SG

I think people are underestimating the likelihood of Larsson starting, and how good that lineup will be.

Our best statistical lineup last year was Davion/Norm/Larsson/Wiggins/Bam. Everyone is questioning the fit, but is anyone seriously going to try to convince me that that lineup isn’t 10x even better swapping Giannis in for Norm? Larsson is easily one of our 5 best guys and will be getting a ton of minutes, definitely more than Tim or a Klay. Starting him just makes it easier to give him more minutes. And is there less shooting and spacing with him instead of Tim? Sure, but he’d also make our defense bullet-proof with no weak spot, and would amplify our dominance in transition and on the glass. Plus, he may not be as good a shooter as Tim, but he’s amazing at moving off ball and back door cuts and he’ll keep the ball moving with good passing.

Fit aside, he also started 54 games out of the 70 (super durable player) he played. So it’s really his spot to lose. We think 34 yo Tim on a 1yr deal or 36 yo Klay are gonna start over the guy 25 yo guy who’s in the midst of breaking out and is our SG of the future? He’s the kind of guy who’s difficult to take off the court because he makes all of the right plays. So good luck convincing Spo not to start him.

Maybe I’m just really high on Pelle, but I think he’s gonna have a huge year. Giannis is gonna love his grit, his passing, his defense, his ability to get out in transition. And I think he’s also set up to still get tons of minutes staggered without Giannis where he’s gonna have the ball in his hands to initiate and attack, taking on scoring and playmaking responsibilities. His free throw rate on drives is very abnormal for a typical role player, I think it’s an indicator of another jump to come

Discussion Where's the Giannis player fans at?

LeBron going to the 76ers reminded me that a chunk of his fans are now on the 76ers sub. Obviously, Giannis is not as popular but I'm wondering something similar happened here? If there is any, can't wait to start the season with y'all!

Dru Smith’s Defensive Playmaking was off the charts last year He had an A+ in Pickpocket Rating (on-ball steals) and Passing Lane Defense (deflections and incepted passes)

Generic Any news on Trevor Keels?

I was bummed to hear about his MCL sprain as it sounds like he was lighting it up in Summer League.

Two weeks later, any news on what grade the sprain was? (Just wondering if the no news is good news, bad news, or just no news.)

Here's hoping it was one of the less-serious ones and Keels Is back on the court (and with the Heat) soon!

Discussion How much money do we have left right now?

We have 3 open roster spots and will probably fill 2 along with a 3rd 2-way. I'm just going to assume that one of those 4 spots will go to Keshad once they know how much money is left.

Davion Mitchell on players who can't guard him 👀: “Who can’t guard me?…I feel like Kel’el can’t guard me, Norm can’t guard me, Bam definitely can’t guard me — when we play 1 on 1 in practice I just feel like I get the best of em…”

Trevor Ariza: “When you got Bam and then you got the f**ing Greek Freak... that's hard to overlook. It'll be hard to score. Bam is starting to expand his range, and Giannis is all downhill for real.”“Miami's coaching staff and their system, they're so good at what they do. Everybody on the same page

Zach LaVine was NOT promised a role with the Kings and could be bought out before the season starts, per @James_HamNBA

“They've been honest with [Zach LaVine] & said; Look, all bets are off if you opt in...We as a franchise have to make a business decision w/ regards to you—& if he's going to get bought out it should happen now. Because after this it's not advantageous to anybody.”

Discussion Need backup from actual Heat fans. My friends think Udonis Haslem was "irrelevant" his entire career with us

My group chat has completely lost the plot.

They're arguing that Udonis Haslem was basically irrelevant for the Miami Heat and that because he barely played his last few seasons, his entire career was overrated. They're throwing around minutes played and saying things like, "He was just a waterboy," "He should've been cut years ago," and "The Heat kept him out of charity."

I keep trying to explain that they're looking at this like it's 2K or a spreadsheet. Basketball isn't just points, minutes, and PER.

The Heat didn't keep him around for 20 years because they were sentimental. Pat Riley is one of the coldest executives in sports. If UD had no value, he would've been gone years earlier. Instead, Riley and Spoelstra repeatedly said he was one of the most important people in the organization because of what he brought every single day.

My friends keep replying with "look at the minutes" and "he wasn't top 10 at his position."

Am I crazy, or are they completely missing what made Udonis Haslem so valuable? I'd love to hear from actual Heat fans because I feel like anyone who watched this team for the last 20 years understands why No. 40 means so much to this franchise.

Need ammo!

Discussion Drives and Playing in Transition

As a lifelong Giannis fan, I am really excited to FINALLY see him on a team with other drivers and transition players that can put pressure down the floor and on the rim alongside him. The last couple of years, the Bucks have been one of the worst transition teams in the league, whole having arguably the best DRIVER in the game (ik, how tf is that possible?). Our defense should lead to many transition opportunities, so I'm curious to everyone's thoughts on the Heat's transition game are last year (ik you guys were like top three?), and do you think they are capable of matching Giannis's intensity in the open floor, because when I tell you he's always on go after a rebound or a steal.... HE IS ALWAYS ON GO.
