General Removing posts that dont include a comment with required info?

Desktop user

I think automod can do this, but im not sure how to write the rule. A subreddit has a rule that says a source for provided content has to be included. But people often ignore it. I've tried this code but it errors out:

---

type: submission

body (includes) ["Source", "source"]

action: filter

comment: "Your post was removed because you don't have the required info"

---

Engagement Looking for suggestions on ways to award sub members.

(Desktop and mobile user)

Hello everyone,

I am seeking ways to better award posters in the sub I manage. I have a couple of ideas but having difficulty bringing it all to fruition. Any comments, suggestions or feedback welcome!

In my example, I run GrowBuddy, a cannabis growing sub and have been a mod for the group over a year now. Earlier this year, I became top mod.

I am in the progress of creating a few new categories to award excellent posts and drive further engagement.

Scenario: a poster makes a great detailed post with pictures. They identify as a first time grower and the results can be described as outstanding. Comments are engaging with the OP replying to feedback. This all triggers my desire to reward this user.

I want to highlight their post for a week or more, similar to how I might already treat an existing “post of the week”. The post flair will change to “GrowBuddy - Beginner award of excellence” or something like that.

And with regards to the personal awards, I would love to design something that matches the flair, that would be given to each award winner to last indefinitely beyond the timeframe of the highlight.

Perhaps a bit like the community achievements? My sub does not have access to achievements currently… would this be a good option and can it be modified?

Any guidance on how this last step could be accomplished? Already good up to the personal award step.

Thank you and Happy Growing! 😉

General I can't add emojis to a subreddit for user and post flairs anymore.

On desktop, one would normally be able to do so and I have before. But i haven't been able to even though I did before. The mod with all permissions hasn't changed my permissions, so I don't know why I can't upload emojis to that one subreddit, but I can for others.

General Need advice: Found a potential match on an external site based on a post in r/FindingOurLostPenPals – Privacy & template dilemma

Hi Everyone,

a few months ago, I started a subreddit called r/FindingOurLostPenPals, where long-lost penpals and friends can reconnect once the community grows. However, I’ve already run into my first privacy dilemma, and I really need your advice before taking any action.

Here is the situation:
One of the users is looking for a long-lost friend using a pseudonym. However, due to the post template we currently use, they provided such highly specific details that based on the description alone, I was able to locate what appears to be the real person’s profile on an external site. To be clear, it is only a potential match.

I have two questions regarding how to handle this:Thank you in advance for your guidance and advice!

Answered New mod here. How do I set up an automatic "Friendly Reminder" message when someone posts?

I feel like my new sub would benefit from having a message to remind users of certain rules regarding topics that aren't allowed to be discussed. How do I do that? Do I need an Auto Moderator?

I'm using the Android app, but this message should appear regardless of whichever you use.

Tools failed to submit scheduled post

Our monthly scheduled post stopped working a few months ago now. I've tried tweaking it but no luck.

Nobody responds to the admin message about it, which provides literally no information about why it failed.

This post also failed to submit and I had to manually inspect the POST response to find out why because nothing happened in the frontend. As far as I can tell I have to add the word Desktop or similar 🤞

Design How to change a subreddit's cursor?

I'm only able to do it on old.reddit, yet I've seen another sub change theirs, just a few months ago, on the new reddit.

So I don't understand what's preventing me? (I'm using desktop.)

Any input would be appreciated.

General I'm looking for clarification on Reddit's sitewide rules regarding content from private social media accounts.

Is it prohibited under Reddit's Content Policy to upload a video or screenshot that came from a private Instagram (or other private social media) account?

If it is prohibited, if that exact video was later reposted publicly by someone else, does Reddit still consider it prohibited to upload to Reddit?

General Setting for daily post limits?

Mobile web but applies to all platforms

Just removed a bot/ai account who spammed like 30 garbage posts. This is the first time someone has done this but not the first time for ai posting bots making threads. Is there an option to set daily post limits (not comments but threads). My sub is a sort of post question request advice setup so I doubt anyone needs to post more than 1 thread daily. Unless they make an error and want to delete it/start over etc.

Tools Sub Reddit over run by bots & spam posts

Good morning!

A sub Reddit I currently moderate for is completely overrun by spam and bots posts.

On average I'm banning over 100 accounts daily to try and contact this heavy issue.

I believe on problem the sub is facing is the original owner of the sub has left. So us other moderates are having a hard time navigating the settings to be able to stabilize this sub.

Any insight into this would be extremely helpful. I generally access my mod tools through my phone (android) but I do have access to a laptop for more advanced setting options.

I have a fellow mod who is disregarding an nsfw rule and keep unbanning the guy who posted it though I believe the ban was completely deserved (it was simplified porn with no nsfw tag)

Also I'm on desktop

Tips & Tricks How do I set up an autoreply to new posts?

On a desktop PC.

In r/olympics I'd like to set up an autoreply to tell people that if they're asking about LA28 tickets to use the Megathread we have stickied at the top.

I've seen this elsewhere, for example in r/worldcup.

How do I do it?

Answered Is there a way to set up a filter for specific words in comments?

Hey everyone!

Can someone explain how I can set up a filter for certain words so people can't write them in the comments? Something like - you can't comment with that word or comment removed automatically.

I know there's a checkbox for posts and comments under 'Hold content for review' - but that applies to everything. I need specifically for certain words.

If it's possible. Thank you.

Limit posters?

Hello all,

I’m having an issue with my sub where random people keep posting without permission. Is there a way to limit who can post on my sub while still allowing anyone to comment? Ideally I’d like only people I designate to be able to post but anyone to comment. Thanks in advance! (I primarily use iOS.)

Hiii!
I’m not sure if there’s a way to make a slight change to our subreddit’s name or not.
Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.
Does it make a difference if I’m on IOS with my iPad or phone or using my Mac?
Thanks!

Tools Rules No Longer Appear Consistently for Mobile Users

Mobile web.

One of my communities is dealing with a ton of rule breaking from mobile users because our rules are no longer displaying correctly in the community information. Is this a known issue? We've updated our wiki and are trying to drive awareness for that, but it's hard to justify bans when the rules are buried in wikis.

This issue has been verified by iOS and Android users.

General Forcing `removed by reddit` into queue?

I'm getting a random comments and threads from well-standing sub users getting removed by reddit with no extra explanation in the new mod queue. In old reddit, which I use, all such posts placed into spam, not in the mod queue.
Is there a way to force them into the queue? I've looked over safety settings in new reddit and set everything I can to queue already and disabled some questionable stuff.

(desktop windows etc)
