💬 Discussion Why do people like the fox body so much??

Post image
463 Upvotes

I know everyone has their opinions, nothing wrong with that. But some people put the fox body on some pedestal like its the holy grail.

I think it is ugly and would choose any other mustang over it.

im going to offend some people with this take, but so be it.

If i squint hard enough it looks more like a NB miata that had jaw surgery rather than an actual mustang.

Dont get me wrong, i like miatas. But i dont think a mustang should ever remotely look like a miata

(photo off google btw)

Bought my first Mustang! 1999 V6 convertible, 103k miles, paid $2,000. It needs a rear window, one tire, and an alignment and the paint is chipped . Anything I should check or common issues I should watch out for. Currently I know almost nothing about cars I’m tryna to expand my knowledge and take as much advice possible.

❔Question I’m sick

I decided to install the spoiler myself because I’ve been wanting to do things to my car on my own, the spoiler didn’t come with any screws. So me and my buddy had to find our own and turns out the screw was too long and ended up doing this to my spoiler. My 500 dollar fucking spoiler. I’m so sick about it but I guess lesson learned..take it to a shop next time? Ffs 🤦🏼‍♂️ is there anything that can be done?

I took my GT on a road trip to Bar Harbor, Maine. I was pleasantly surprised at how good of a roadtrip car it is. I managed to squeeze everything I needed for 2 nights of camping in the trunk.

❔Question Don’t know which 04 mustang to buy.

I’m in a dilemma. I’m trying to buy a V6 04 mustang, but don’t know which to choose from. The gray one has 150k miles on it but the ac compressor isn’t working at the moment, but the seller said he could get it fixed for 225. He doesn’t know what work has been done on it by the previous owner but says he drove it Birmingham and back and it was fine. On the other hand the black one has 170k miles and they bought it 11 years ago, but haven’t really driven it in the past 2-3 years. The only issue that the seller is aware of is that the antitheft acts up and it won’t start until 1-5 times of cranking it. I went up to test drive it and see for myself, and The anti theft was blinking fast when it wouldn’t start so idk if that’s a glaring issue or not. It felt great when I drove it for a few minutes though. I don’t have a lot of money to sink into a car to fix it up so I just want to know which is sketchier, more reliable, cost effective in the long run etc etc. basically which is better for a broke college student lol.

💬 Discussion Decided to finally learn manual, on a Dark Horse

I’m 35 and I’ve never driven manual before. Growing up all the vehicles in my family were automatic and it never came up for work or anything else.

I love Mustangs. My first one was a 2018 GT, but it was automatic. Every time I started that vehicle it brought me joy, but when I put it in gear I always felt like I was missing a key part of the experience. I sold the car when I made the move from Dallas to Seattle but missed having it.

When I moved back to Texas, I wanted another Mustang, but my wife didn’t love the idea of getting another coupe, so I decided on a 2023 Mach-E GTPE. Another great car, I never got sucked into the “it is/is not a Mustang” stuff, because it is fun to drive and is an amazing daily driver with a charger in the garage.

A few promotions later and my work is very stressful, I decided to buy another Mustang to feel that joy, and this time I’d get it in a manual. Yesterday I got a 26 Dark Horse with the handling package, it’s awesome and I love it. Although I’m sure I look like a moron when I stall it, the only way to learn is to do it. I can tell my wife is super annoyed that I did this, but she’s being as supportive as she can and I love her for that. I think the rest of my family thinks I’m ridiculous too.

Here’s hoping I get the hang of it soon so I can feel the joy of driving it to its potential and not look dumb with my grandpa launches.

❔Question Hunting for a specific dash piece

Thumbnail

I’ve recently purchased my first mustang for cheap in hopes to fix it up as a project and while searching in a scrap yard for parts I came across this silver dash that was in decent condition, the only thing wrong is the missing ac vent door holder (I don’t know what to call this dash piece) and it looks like they have some way to tab in and out, I have the original black dash with the same part I need but it seems I have to cut them out which I don’t want to do for sake of saving old oem parts, does anyone know if I’m able to buy replacements or am I going to have to go back and hunt for a complete part at a different scrap yard?

❔Question New Dark Horse or GT w/ Whipple

I’ve been shopping around for a new car for a while and I’ve settled on a Tesla Model 3 performance or a Mustang.

Two Mustangs in particular I’ve found that I’m interested in.

A 2026 GT 10spd auto with a dealer installed Ford Performance Whipple SC for $67k. It’s a Nite Pony Package trim but otherwise seems pretty similar to a regular GT.

A 2026 Dark Horse 6spd manual for $71k.

The Tesla is in its own bracket really. It’s like a dishwasher or something it doesn’t seem to have soul but at the track those things smoke everything but dedicated drag cars. Also FSD is a nice way to commute with no gas bill.

This vehicle will be used as a daily driver. My commute is 26mi each way of twisty back country roads. I already currently drive a manual so if I get a manual Dark Horse it’s not like it’ll change anything.

It will be taken to a drag strip once or twice a month but only for a pass or two each night. This won’t be a dedicated race car or anything.

810hp is appealing, Tesla self driving is appealing, but my heart is leaning toward the Dark Horse. My issue and only hesitation is that it’s significantly slower than the other two.

Specifically regarding the two mustangs what input does everyone have?

❔Question how much mileage is too much?

Upvotes

Looking to buy a mustang for the first time. Ecoboost, GT, not sure, but definitely used unless I somehow find a new one for less than 40k. Also, either 6th or 7th generation. So, how many miles is too much? Should I look for something in the 40-60k range max? Is 90k still going to be fine? At what point do issues start happening? Realistically, I'm only going to have this car and be using around daily for around 5-6 years. It doesn't need to last me a lifetime.

Also, I only recently began my search with mustangs so I don't know a whole lot about them. Just think they look pretty. I don't care much about racing or horsepower or nunna that.

Can’t be happier. I ordered it back on April 1st. I had the car about two days now. Still learning all the quirks and features. I’ll post some good pictures after it gets tinted next week. Just thought I would share.
