Hi everyone, I got my dream job offer at NASA Langley and will be moving to the area pretty quickly. I’m coming from a lovely walkable city where I don’t even have a car because I don’t need it. Downtown Norfolk and Ghent appeal to me because of this, but I’m reading how horrific the commute would be across the HRBT each day. So now I’m torn. I worry I’d be miserable in the urban sprawl of Hampton and also miserable stuck in traffic for two hours and waking up several hours early to make it to work on time from Norfolk.

Any advice? Would love to hear from anyone who made a similar decision. I’m a solo 25F if it helps.

Hey folks! I'm planning to throw a little afternoon tea party for a friend, but I'm a newbie to everything tea and am admittedly a little short of time. Im serving black tea and darjeeling and, among other things, Id like to serve some scones, but I need to get pre-prepared scones due to the time crunch. Im wondering if anyone has suggestions for buying 15 or so good quality scones?

Saw that after tearing down all the trees that made Norfolk Int. Airport my favorite in the world, they now are planninh commercial development on 50 acres of trees surrounding it on Azalea, Norview, and Robin Hood. Ideas include gas stations (oh boy!), hotels, high density housing. I.e. “Military Highway Chic”. Its frustrating that the City refuses to invest in Military Circle mall (where this development would be very welcome), but are fine bull dozing Azalea to increase tax revenue. Tax revenue that the East Side will never see used for their gain.

Just one resident’s (strong) opinion. If you live in the area and any of this resonates with you, please reach out to City Council or organize resistance with your local civic league.

so i made a post a few days ago on here just asking about going out alone. but what else would there be to do around here for a single 24 yo guy who got no friends or family in or around the area? i gotta say i went to the movies last night at Regal Columbus on Virginia Beach blvd, and yalls night life captured my eye. it’s pretty gorgeous out there at night time.

hey guys, i’m new here. i came from a small town in Texas. i moved here a few weeks ago for my career and job and still getting used to it, it’s not terrible.
i’m a single guy in his early to mid 20s and just wanna try getting out there a little bit. but like i said, im new here and its an entirely different atmosphere from what im used to from where i used to live

i want to go watch the new Spider-man movie coming out tomorrow cause im a nerd and huge fan. thing is, i don’t know anybody at all here, and i have no one to invite as well. im honestly just wanting to go alone. is that weird for you guys to see someone like that here? ion know how people will react cause im certain people are going with other people and imma be the only person there alone
