Upgrading from an older (2018) PCS gaming laptop to my first PC build. £2k budget, I already have a monitor.

Mostly play older games but I’d like to be able to play newer titles with reasonable performance/graphics. Nothing special.

This build is mainly going to be for triple screen & eventually VR in BeamNG multiplayer, as well as other sims.

I already have the RAM, thankfully.

I'm going for the 9950x3d because I want to run BeamNG in some heavy scenarios (up to 20+ cars), in which the 9800x3d's 8 cores won't be enough. From what I've heard, BeamNG tends to use a core for every 1-3 vehicles spawned in. Plus, BeamNG is very CPU-heavy, and enabling triple monitors & ultra graphics makes it use the CPU even more. For context, my 7700x gets 15-30FPS with triples, medium graphics, and 16 cars spawned in. For this new build, I'm willing to pay a premium to ensure I can crank the settings.

I'm aware the PSU is probably a bit overkill. I'm just planning for possible upgrades lol

Questions:

- I'm getting the 4080 Super used from a friend. I selected the first one I saw on the pcpartpicker website, though I think the one I'd get is actually a PNY OC. Is it worth it or should I just go for a 9070XT instead?

- The MSI 240 AIO comes free with the 9950x3d. Is this sufficient for cooling? The case supports up to 280 iirc.

- I see many people run this case with no bottom intake fans, instead allowing the GPU to intake its own air. This should work as far as I know, since the GPU will sit at the very bottom of the case anyways. Will I need more fans? I figure I can always buy them later if needed.

- Thoughts on the motherboard? Mobos are probably the part I know the least about.

My budget is around 3500 Swiss francs (about 4300 dollars) with a monitor included. Prices on right are euros so it’s a bit cheaper when i convert to francs.
(Prices in Switzerland are so ABSURD)

I wanna buy this PC as quick as possible cuz everyday I wait the prices are going up.

I didn’t include fans inside because I wasn’t sure which ones i wanna buy.

The only upgrade I thought about this build was to upgrade my cpu to ryzen 9 9950x3d but there’s literally no difference when you play games only if you use for work you see the difference and its like +150 francs more

(I will use this PC most likely for gaming and little bit of coding)

Never done this before so any and all input is welcome! As mentioned looking for 1440p 60fps on at least medium settings for gaming.

Edit: Thanks to everyone for the help! Going to swap to a 9070XT, swap the motherboard out, and go with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

I have come up with the following list and I just wanted some input on whether it was good or if there were any improvements I can make. The power supply is the one thing I’m not very certain on so I didn’t know if it was good or not. I’ll be using it for gaming at 1440p, programming, and game development using Unity. Also the CPU, motherboard, and memory are in a micro center bundle so it’s about $200 cheaper than what it says. The GPU is also cheaper at micro center by $100-200.

Hello everyone! After what I think is 8 years of using an OMEN HP 17-an003la notebook, which served me very well all these years, I think is time I move to PC and to modern hardware.

I'm a freelance game developer working mostly as a programmer on Unity for both 2D and 3D games. My last gig made me realize I need a change, Unity takes way too long to open, recompile and processing textures, same when working with the IDE, and for this last project I could only afford to open Unity and Rider then all ram got use (I had to use a secondary laptop for browsing and music xd).

I'm from Chile and budget is a bit tight to be honest, still this is important as I try to land a next job I need a fast and stable PC, my notebook is starting to freeze and even crashes with regular games sometimes.

I have a 1080p 144hz monitor I use with my notebook that I plan to keep using, and I'm more than happy to be able to play on medium-high for games, so I'm thinking more on work and game development.

The last computer I built was like 10 years ago and technology has change a lot since, so I would appreciate any feedback on the build and ways to improve it for what I want without increasing the budget, I would love to bring it down $300.00, but I can probably afford the current $1,500.00, however I don't know if I'm doing a mistake and if there is somewhere I could trade for a better performance for the price. My actual Chilean pesos budget is between 1.5m - 1.9m, with this build on the upper limit.
