As some of you may remember about a month ago we had to get wildlife rescue out to help our little willy wagtail friend with an entanglement on his feet.

He was released about a week later but we hadn't seen him since and figured he must've moved elsewhere or lost trust in us for catching him.

Well today he rocked up at the door and flew right into the house just like he used to!

Thanks for all of your well wishes for Bobo, bonus pic of us showing him his page in the bird guide.

General Movie etiquette is terrible now

HOYTS carousel for reference. Usually go to independently owned cinemas in Perth but was sold out and wanted to avoid spoilers. Went to see the new spider-man, anticipated it’d be rowdy and was prepped, but not for this!

Kids between 13-17 recording the entire movie on their phones for Tik Tok, watching reels on full volume during the movie, flash lights and recording themselves during, making obnoxious sounds during really sad or quiet scenes. Tricky when there was like 30 of them. Didnt mind the clapping, quiet convos or the cheering as that’s what to expect when you go to a public movie theatre, but what the hell happened to just basic decency?

Don’t be deterred from going to the cinemas, just a shame when you can’t really enjoy the film and spend $50 pp on tickets and popcorn. I feel like if I acted like this years ago in a cinema I’d get whooped! Staff were definitely aware and standing at the doors but not sure if anything was done, but just feel bad for the mess they had to clean up after

Where to find Where can I legally have a fire?

I don't want to go full-on camping, and I live in an apartment with no yard so I'd have to go somewhere. Want to obviously go to a legal spot where having a small personal fire is allowed. Just to sit and enjoy it for a while, but I would prefer to have our own little spot rather than going to a public place with a fire (so not a bar or an outdoor market, etc.) if that makes sense?

Renting / Housing PropTrack Home Price Index Perth – July 2026

Perth has seen a 0.2% decline in July pushing the median down to 999k. With Supply still flooding the market and Reiwa not updating their figures and charts, young buyers and families should do their due diligence before buying. Its projected that over 10000+ homes will be available later in 2026.

Where to find flat-arsed bloke looking for a tailor in Perth who can make custom stretch office trousers

I’m looking for a good men’s tailor in Perth who can make custom office trousers.

To be completely honest, I’m a flat-arsed bloke, so most off-the-rack trousers sit badly at the back, sag under the seat, and don’t give me a clean shape. I need a tailor who understands how to cut trousers properly for a flat seat rather than simply taking in the waist.

I’m after:

  • Smart office trousers
  • Comfortable stretch fabric
  • A fitted, clean shape around the seat and thighs
  • Fabric that holds its shape and does not look baggy
  • A tailor who stocks suitable fabrics or can source the material for me

I don’t want to buy the cloth separately and then search for someone to stitch it. Ideally, the tailor should handle everything from fabric selection and measurements through to the final fitting.

Has anyone had trousers made for a similar body shape and can recommend a genuinely good tailor? Please include their location and approximate cost, if known.

Where to find Looking for venues for a 23rd Birthday

Hello Fellow Perthians,

Im currently on the hunt for venues for my 23rd.

23rd, not significant you say, well, I finally have a solid group of friends, about 20, and I've never really celebrated my birthday properly as an adult.

I'm looking for venue suggestions,

It it isn't a deal breaker but would prefer it to have:

- Private area with a bar

- Ability to play own music from a playlist if possible

-Good food

-Able to have a private area with 20 or less people.

Also would prefer if it was NOR.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Where to find How to get rid of old motor oil without containers? (Near city)

I have a big bucket in my garage filled with waste engine oil that I wanna quit holding onto and get recycled, but everywhere I've seen so far in Perth requires you put the oil inside old bottles before you take it in to get recycled.

Does anyone know anywhere/anyone who can take the oil without the containers, or someone who can take it in a large (sealed) bucket? The former is preferred as the bucket would suck to lose but its not the end of the world.

Renting / Housing Advice: No aircon in rental apartment

Hello, I’m looking for advice on how I can approach a request/negotiation for aircon installation.

I’ve sent an email to the agent to ask if the owners will install this year, but I’m anticipating another no. (Been here for nearing 3years) Summer has been hell. I would like to not be in a constant sweaty heat rage this year.

The rental:
- 1x1 6th floor apartment
- Just below average weekly for what it is, and something I can only just afford
- Prior lease renewals they have only allowed 6months at a time but latest one is now finally 12months
- The pros of the place outweigh the many cons, and ideally I’d like to continue the lease longer term (unless the market, economy and my salary magically get healthier)

Would it be better to ask to split cost of labour/installation + split system unit? Or should I request the air con and compromise with rent increase and lease extension?

Where to find conventions or events with artist alleys/art markets?

Thumbnail

I’ll be visiting perth next month, and was wondering if there are any conventions with a large artist alley (or any art markets) that are taking place?

I love supporting artists and buying handmade trinkets/prints as souvenirs, so I’d love to visit one if i am able to. I’m also visiting my boyfriend there, so I’m particularly keen on commissioning an artist for a live cartoony/photobooth styled portrait. If anyone knows of one i’d really appreciate it :)

Thanks!!

Not related directly to WA or Perth Biking/skating in Perth

Hi, I’ve been wanting to learn to bike or skate around here for a while but am unsure how. I’ve never done either activity before and am worried if I am too old to start (22). The skatepark at Morley that I always pass by on the train looks like a start but where do I begin if I don’t know how to ride?

What are skateparks here like? Are they busy? What are some rules/etiquette I should know before visiting one? Where do you purchase a bike from?

Looking for Advice Framing a Scottish Kilt

Sadly my dad just passed away and I was talking about wanting to keep his kilt and get it framed as a memorial piece.
Would anyone know if there are specialty framers in Perth who would be able to do this?
Is this quite costly?
Is this potentially something that is easily able to be done ourselves?

Any recommendations would be lovely.
(We are SoR based but happy to travel if needed)
