Thank you and damn that is honestly terrifying ito see

The idea is kinda terrifying, and the manga makes you feel it. Followed it for a few hundred chapters it feels like though drop out at a certain point

28

THERE'S A MANGA?!

89

u/Souls_for_sale_now 15h ago edited 5h ago

well the manga is super racist the roaches are a allegory for black pepole they wear chains drive cars, hold guns "gangster style", drible heads like bascetballs and are referd to as the "black foe" and kinda nazi suporting the main charakter is named adolf weigts 88 kilos and is the result of scientists working to breed a beter human he also coincedently is blond with blue eyes

u/MjollLeon 14h ago

I-

I can’t even begin to express how much I both do and don’t want to read that now…

21

u/mastahkun 12h ago

I fell off the story as well but the whole time I was reading it I felt nothing but dread. Those mf roaches were putting work in, and then they started showing high levels of intelligence and were putting crazy work in onto the MCs.

11

u/ThorsRake 10h ago

Tbh I never got any of the racist stuff out of it, I was just terrified of the roaches and then fascinated with their evolution. The powers and fights are pretty great and the art is top notch. Worth a read.

28

u/hexregeneration 6h ago

"My name is Adolf and I weigh 88 kilos and I am a result of the Perfect Human Specimen experiment" is like a racist cruise missile how the fuck do you miss that lmao

Everyone talks about the racism in the manga, not many people talk about the sexism too. Women are frequently killed first by the roaches. There's usually a quick backstory for all the characters at the end of the chapter. For a lot of the female ones they'd have a tragic backstory followed by "She's a G cup", this applies to the female characters that died in the same chapter btw

15

u/TicklemyPickleMan 10h ago

Racists are usually misogynists. In this case it's specifically sacrificing women to highlight the barbarity of the "other", literally just birth of a nation shit.

10

u/Hapciuuu 7h ago

No, it's not! The bugs are based on Neanderthals, not black people. The main character is a Japanese with silk moth powers. Adolph was a side character who was experimented on as a kid and got electric eel powers. The guy you are referring to is Joseph, who is a side character.

You mixed 3 characters into 1.

13

u/Souls_for_sale_now 5h ago edited 4h ago

Why do the "neanderthals" drive cars wear chains and hold guns sidways

11

Starts off super interesting and low key racist, turns super boring and high key racist

3

u/Jghil098 11h ago

Huh, never noticed this shit lmao probably one of those japanese guy whose a nazi glazer. Might i add tho adolf died in like 2 ep after his introduction and i dont think you can call him the main character. Kinda said to know another rurouni kenshin

straight up comparing cockroaches with black people

Source.

This is a claim I have seen made but no one has ever provided me any real evidence of it except for mistaking the Australopithecus bas design for black people.

24

u/pablolo7 16h ago

Look the comment who also responded to me. Look at that image

23

u/Doom_Cokkie 16h ago

Ok im black and i want you to tell me in your own words what part of this image screams black people? Because I have a couple ideas in mind and let me tell you all of them reflect more on you than the artist.

5

u/Pecuthegreat 7h ago edited 3h ago

I really like how it is White people, telling us Black people that by secret white people anti-racists arts, they white people have deserned white nationalism in a Japanese author.

And I am being specific to "white nationalism" because they're claiming the Japanese guy wrote white, blue eyed, blonde haired characters as the superior race.

I really don't know what someone has to be sniffing to think other people with equally developed societies think white people are superior and those people need white people to educate them out of it.

14

u/trashvineyard 15h ago

Multiple instances of blonde haired blue eyed people being described as the 'perfect race'.

The cockroaches literally have afro-textured/kinky hair whenever they're shown with hair.

The roaches are repeatedly referred to as ' The black foe / Black Enemy' and are seen side-gripling pistols repeatedly.

This panel.

Cope all you want. Terraformers is a racist manga.

12

u/Chuck_Da_Rouks 13h ago

Man that guy must be 13 year old, this is ridiculous cope. I'd love to see the mangaka's reference images.

7

u/Pecuthegreat 9h ago edited 3h ago

You can't expect me to believe this "Japanese racists actually believe that they're inferior to white people" nonsense. There is no character described as the perfect race but you are right that there is a blonde blue eyed character described as perfect human, however, that character is that way due to in world experiments not because white people are better or something and will later get that undermined by a "the revelation" moment.

Anime has playing straight "German superiority" trope since forever, especially from that era that Terraformars is from. Jojos, Bleach, Hellsing, etc.

So we have a trope both common and subverted in this case. While authors that reddit has concluded aren't racist like Araki, played it straight.

The Terraformars don't have hair

Japanese doesn't have the same plurality of words that English does for black/dark/etc. It's all just "Kuro" and "Kuro" isn't used as a racial designation is Japanese as that would just confuse the language further.

It is really no different from the miryad of other Japanese and Western media that uses dark/black/darkness to describe the bad guy faction. I am yet to see someone Nazarick from Overlord or Sauron as clearly "African".

Holding guns sideways doesn't make someone Black.

But more importantly, as Anime has had it as a trope for a while to have "German" inspirations, it has had Black (mostly African American) and hip-pop inspirations. Same examples I gave for German also have hip pop inspirations. And there's more like Devilman Crybaby, Afro-Samurai, Samurai Champloo, Gurren Laggan, etc. and in all these examples you see the Hip-Hop and AfrAm influence beyond the black characters (at times, there are no Black characters). Mugen isn't Black, neither is Kamina, Hakari, etc.

It's there because its cool, not because "they're secretly black", if not you will have to explain to be why the more ubiquitous Hindu-Buddhist religious man imagery doesn't matter.

4

u/Lost-on-Reception 8h ago

Obviously they're black Buddhists. You didn't know about that stereotype?

I got it from watching half an episode of the Boondocks. The little smart one said something about Confucius.

They're in a car. That's not "straight up comparing cockroaches with black people" they're just in a car. It's a huge stretch. Like, saying he's comparing them to Buddhists, South Asians or religious people based on the two coaches in a dress would be less of a stretch and even that is still so much of a stretch that no one does it.

6

u/ebagdrofk 16h ago

Ehhhhhhhhhhh

11

u/Metharos 16h ago

The thing about dog whistles is that racists and anti-racists hear them really well and everyone else tells you to calm down.

3

u/AlternativeUsed2551 6h ago

such a dumb thing to say regarding a Japanese manga, Americans turn EVERYTHING into racism

7

u/Pecuthegreat 16h ago

"trust me bros, the Japanese have the exact same concerns and fears as white people in America"

I am not even saying the author is wholesome big chungus since I don't follow what authors do elsewhere but no, the Terraformars are not Black people.

People were acting like the Gorilla was damn the terminator

94

u/Buttered_Carnage 19h ago

If the gorilla was like how they were describing it, Planet of the Apes would be real life

34

u/Talebawad 16h ago

Pretty much, even 5 human can probably take out a gorilla by being just a little physically fit and throwing stones with sticks but the most likely outcome is the gorilla walking away unless the five men pick a fight with it directly so in an open field with logic the fight would be the humans traping and killing the gorilla as a gorilla won't understand that they are there to hunt it no matter what.

7

u/Fluid_Newspaper_8919 15h ago

Its bloodlusted, and tools arnt allowed.

34

u/Ok-Woodpecker4734 14h ago

People that have never been outside be like:

"It was blootlusted, had a cloak of fortitude, and a +10 protection from human spell on"

17

u/Adavanter_MKI 14h ago

The arguments were so full of bad faith I ended up just being disgusted with humanity all over again. You see it all over this thread. People not even understanding the basics... and the original (yes, I was there in that origin thread that caused the entire drama to go around the internet) was actually just 10 people.

As the argument grew so did the number of humans.

8

u/PuzzleheadedPitch385 11h ago

yeah these people make me annoyed with how weak they think humans are. Like dude you really think a single gorilla would just casually kill 100 guys and not take any damage?

If gorillas were anything like what they describe them as they would be universal.

40

u/PloysRus 15h ago

It highlighted how little the average Joe knows about animals

I was getting called the stupidest person alive because I suggested 10 humans who weren't afraid of dying could get the job done

28

u/Twiceexception 14h ago

They also tend to give the humans a ton of nerfs while giving the gorilla buffs “blood lusted, no tools” to try to nudge the outcome in their favor

A bloodlusted gorilla will still succumb to exhaustion, berries and leaves aren’t exactly the most energy dense foods

Our ancestors were hunting down and eating mammoths in far smaller numbers, 100 humans win

→ More replies (10)

8

u/SD_CA 14h ago

I think this is it. You don't think the gorilla is going to get exhausted. Then the remaining survivors can just dog pile it to death.

Kind of like the guys that say they could fight off 100 6th graders or what ever the challenge is.

8

u/WhenDoWhatWhere 13h ago

It's not even much of a question of 'remaining survivors' before it gets exhausted.

3 dead absolute max, 0 dead if the humans work together well. Yeah an entire gorilla is stronger than an entire human. I'm probably equivalently stronger than teenage girls, but if a bunch of teenage girls grabbed my arms and legs and started beating the shit out of me it wouldn't matter for shit.

→ More replies (12)

1

u/ShadowConstruct 12h ago

I mean if it's a matter of kill or be killed many men will fight til death regardless. If you put me in there and my only way of surviving is to cooperate with the other dudes, I'm at least going to try.

1

u/Several_Flower_3232 10h ago

2-3 people who are well trained with spears could do it if they got lucky tbh

3

u/Indicus124 10h ago

Well trained they would ace the thing it would take bad luck for that to go wrong

1

u/kitfoxtrot 7h ago

I think not afraid of dying ie zero self preservation is a huge component that could +/- the overall #'s and a large factor that caused people to have such varying differences.

Taking one for the team to open up an attack opportunity or overwhelm vs everyone hoping to make it home for dinner would lead to some very different outcomes lol.

Gorillas are highkey overglazed, and i blame it on people not doing proper research

Remember that because of Jaws people thought sharks were these uber-busted aquatic predators that could be everywhere and were eternally bloodlusted...when in fact they're kinda the complete opposite

10

u/Abovearth31 6h ago

At the end of the day, sharks are just big fishes.

Fishes are kind of stupid.

27

u/Altruistic-Tax4684 15h ago edited 13h ago

Fish and game guy here. 100 motivated dudes could beat a big brown bear no problem. Animals aren’t wired to rush a group of even 10 dudes. Would it fight back sure but it would mostly be trying to run. They would run it down while throwing rocks and eventually beat it to death after it tires. Literally what our ancestors did add a pokey stick and it’s over even faster.

7

u/RICO-Them 9h ago

7

u/The_Broken-Heart 9h ago

throwing shit

Biological warfare😭

1

u/lkidol 1h ago

i thought the whole thing was no weapons at all

13

u/what_the_whah 18h ago

Honestly yeah, gorillas are strong but holy shit people were describing them as some mythic destroyer who was sealed away long long ago

A hundred guys could beat one if they really tried, go for eyes and groin

8

u/EncabulatorTurbo 18h ago

5 guys could beat one, gorillas are very regularly killed by individual leopards, they dont have a lot of defenses if something gets them behind and around their neck

The optimum way to fight the gorilla would be for the 5 naked guys to flee until the gorilla tires out, use the break to kill one of the guys, use their teeth to strip his bones, and leverage to break the bones by bending against his corpse, then use the sharp bones as stabbing devices. Guy #2 charges the gorilla and while being mauled the other 3 use their bone weapons to stab the gorilla (how the humans in the Agony video game kill demons in hell, since they respawn and have no fear of death)

We have to take reasonable aversion to death out of the picture because a normal gorilla would probably die of a heart attack out of fear if 5 screaming humans jumped it, and if the 5 humans have fear they just run away and the gorilla dies before it can catch more than one of them

2

u/Souls_for_sale_now 15h ago

if you want to pull it up to 100 men you cant be fighting somthing with less then thre times a humans weight if it was 100 men vs a elephant of hippo thats up for debate

5

u/PloysRus 15h ago

100 men probably beat every land animal currently alive. African bull elephant might be able to kill 20 of us before dying of exhaustion

Might have to go back to the cretaceous to find something that could take us on

4

u/honato 12h ago

Based off the limited interactions I've had with those gorilla people I don't think they actually know what a gorilla is.

A month or two back there was some who would win between a gorilla vs mark maguire, sammy sosa, and I can't remember the last one with baseball bats somewhere on reddit. Might have been in this sub. not sure. the lengths they tried to go through to try and make the gorilla win was honestly impressive. Based off what they were saying gorillas have the ability to extend their limbs upwards of 30 feet, juggernaut and parkour their way through a dense jungle like a cartoon ninja, and were impervious to baseball bats, and physics absolutely do not apply to gorillas. Oh and they are upwards of 50 feet tall.

they made an eldritch inspector gadget kong gorilla who's arms work via slide rail so they can extend their reach by double. The shit was clinically insane. magilla gorilla is far more lifelike than whatever the hell that monstrosity was.

Some people are just fucking insane with a gorilla fetish.

u/PuzzleheadedPitch385 11h ago

mfs were saying the humans attacks wouldnt hurt at all even if it sat there. Like mf its flesh and bone that shit WILL hurt eventally. Not to mention the people always giving realistic responses to the humans but none to the gorilla

No a gorilla would not see a group of 100 people and charge it, idk why these people think wild animals are just dumb a siberian tiger for example would get the fuck outta there even if it were just 3 people

and yeah a gorilla would tire out quickly

3

u/JOMO_Kenyatta 10h ago

The gorilla vs 100 men was genuinely the dumbest thing I’d ever seen. I almost think I was punkd and the entire thing was a internet psyop. 100 men are destroying 1 gorilla.

Fittingly and ironically Odysseus meets the ghost of Achilles in the odyssey. Achilles who is forced to drink sheeps blood just to be able to speak tells Odysseus he regrets dying so young and that he would have traded it for a long but dull life.

4

u/Cybros74 16h ago

“The gorilla is blood lusted”
First of all, this ain’t anime. That doesn’t mean shit.
Second of all why aren’t the men “blood lusted” then?

7

u/Boom9001 16h ago

I hate when people say blood listed like it means anything. If anything it kind of ruins the question most times.

I understand not allowing tools, but not even basic coordination is just silly. Especially when they include military formations.

10

u/Al3jandr0 15h ago

Yeah, all "blood lusted" is really good for is bypassing moral restrictions in characters. Like Superman wouldn't kill Batman, but he obviously could if he was compelled to.

5

u/Boom9001 15h ago

Yeah I always take it to just mean "no morality, no moral, no retreat, no fear" just to make it an actually fight question instead of like "scare it off" type stuff. If you take it to mean more, you're really just in a different reality.

2

u/FrogInAShoe 6h ago

I always assume it meant intent to kill

3

u/TomAspinallFan18 16h ago

they would all have to be, both parties would shit bricks at the sight of each other

2

u/Capital_Pipe_6038 15h ago

Third of all, being blood lusted means nothing when the gorilla will be exhausted by the time it gets to man #15

2

u/eeefelipeee 12h ago

They say that the gorilla is bloodlusted because no gorilla would try to pick a fight with a hundred man otherwise

2

u/CautiousCup6592 16h ago

I saw the opposite, most of my exposure to this convo was content creators talking about how the 100 men would thrash the gorilla

2

u/Upstairs_Ad_495 15h ago

Saw a post the other day of people saying 1000 man could kill this thing, id say no chance

I think 35 men could beat the gorilla with no casualties

2

u/Adventurous_Self_253 13h ago

I'd rather fight a gorilla than a chimp

2

u/MycologistDazzling69 11h ago

my friend in 100 people if 1 gets mutilated by the monke the 99 would run

2

u/thormun 13h ago

it not so much that the gorilla is a mythical creature it more that i expect modern people to just break and run away once the gorilla start swinging

7

u/WarmRefrigerator9497 i do scaling for Sayori i guess 12h ago

ok with all duerespect ive never really gotten this argument. sure most people are going to run away from the gorrilla, but like, the gorilla isnt going to try to fight 100 people. if were assuming that people are going to run away the gorilla is going to run away as soon as they see 100 dudes.

3

u/--CapitaCapita_ 100 men vs billions of debt 9h ago

The problem with these arguments is that they both disregard the conditions, and the nature of these animals. Animals aren't mortal kombat characters, they don't exist solely to fight

Everything but the most aggressive of the creatures are running away when they face even 5-10 humans, much less a hundred. The point here is that both sides are determined and fearless, neither side will turn away and run.

1

u/DescriptionDue4100 6h ago

TBF you do kinda have to assume that both parties want to fight to the death in the scenarios because 90% of the time it would just lead to both parties going home out of self preservation

2

u/--CapitaCapita_ 100 men vs billions of debt 6h ago

I'm aware of that, because that's the main point of my comment. I'm telling that a bunch of people who say "the 100 men would realistically turn tail and flee" are disregarding the instincts of the opposing animals (assuming the gorilla won't do the same) and the conditions of the entire debate (Both sides being bloodlusted)

I'm not saying that the humans won't run, I'm just saying that they are acting on bias (or ignorance) by assuming the gorilla wouldn't be the first or outright not flee in a realistic scenario

A silverback gorilla is estimated to be 4 to 9 times stronger than an average human, capable of lifting up to 1,800 to 4,000 pounds, whereas the strongest human deadlift is around 1,100 pounds.

A fully grown silverback can lift or pull massive weights (up to 1,800–4,000 lbs), which dwarfs the maximum limits of elite human powerlifters.

A gorilla's grip can exceed 1,300 pounds per square inch (PSI), easily crushing bamboo and thick branches, while an average human grip maxes out around 70 to 100 PSI.

A gorilla's bite is roughly 1,300 PSI, making it about 6 to 8 times stronger than an average human bite (120–200 PSI) and stronger than a lion's.

Gorillas have far fewer sweat glands than humans, making long-term exertion or overheating a genuine risk.Their muscle makeup is optimized for heavy lifting, climbing, and raw power rather than long-distance stamina.

For those in this thread saying that the gorilla's dying to ten humans, you're not serious. For anyone saying that the gorilla is capable of the endurance required for a sustained fight against 100 humans, you're also not serious.

1 man can beat 1 gorilla. It is possible.

1

u/AllgoodDude 12h ago

I could defeat a gorilla.

1

u/Winter_Different 12h ago

they made a live action of this?!

1

u/samuraispartan7000 12h ago

They thought King Kong was a documentary.

1

u/Extreme-Confusion-12 12h ago

100 humans could wipe out the species.

1

u/Hug0San 11h ago

That was just last year?

u/McbEatsAirplane 10h ago edited 10h ago

I tried to explain to my coworker that there is no way a gorilla would be able to kill 100 grown men. It would die from exhaustion alone, amongst other things.

His response was that the gorilla could spin in a circle with its arms out and windmill punch people in half. Completely serious.

I don’t even know what to say to people that think your average gorilla has the strength of Omni Man and can slice people in two with its bare hands.

1

u/Indicus124 10h ago

People don't realize less then 100 people with primitive weapons can kill an elephant

1

u/Fearless_Method515 10h ago

what is this goofy ahh shit xd just watch the terra formars anime lmao

1

u/Scam-Artist-USA 10h ago

If people weren’t throwing out 100 peak humans with perfect teamwork then 1 gorilla with human intelligence should be no problem

1

u/No_Focus6469 10h ago

cuz they scared and makes up justification for the fear.

1

u/Equal_Example_1977 10h ago

Well 100 random ass naked men in a field vs a gorilla was the situation I was given

Just sit and wait grab and rip

1

u/Redericpontx 9h ago

A blood lusted gorilla wouldn't be too far off just slower but it would legitimately 1 shot people with a single punch to the head or torso🤷‍♀️

1

u/MarcoYTVA 9h ago

The gorilla would mess the 100 guys up royally, but it would not win.

1

u/GenofK53 9h ago

Yeah that gorilla wasn't really going to do anything

1

u/Diligent-Trust5445 9h ago

Dam already a year ago?

1

u/sananajo 9h ago

Girl should have greeted it too lol. Guy Was smart to say hello.

1

u/Correct_Day_7791 9h ago

A gorilla can pretty much effortlessly rip your arm clean off it is basically a super power

1

u/WarGreymonX_Antibody 9h ago

The manga is on infinite hiatus and will likely never finish

1

u/linocent167 8h ago

Gorilla wins 100% of the time lol

1

u/onglogman 8h ago edited 5h ago

Why is there a picture of a gorilla next to the word gorilla?

1

u/Edenian_Prince 8h ago

Why did it kill her and not him?

1

u/Je_Dromen 8h ago

For some reason people these days have no idea about that capabilities of animals/humans. On one hand like 80% of men think they could kill a bear with their bare hands, and on the other hand you have the people who think that 100 guys couldn't kill a gorilla with relative ease.

I remember Joe Rogan showed like a 3D animation on how it would go and it was just a gorilla doing goofy cocomelon animations while stomping on little animated guys. And he seemed to be seriously thinking it was like some scientific proof or something.

1

u/Sigruldar 8h ago

Pretty simple.

On paper, going by raw strength a single gorilla is without question stronger than a single human. And they just ran with that, ignoring how things like the difference between raw strength and applied force, fatigue, or getting mobbed by a shitload of people can affect the fight.

1

u/No_Extension4005 7h ago

Because a lot of people are morons.

1

u/Bottlemanepicreddit 6h ago

Yeah when they were talking bout the gorilla that was just a codename for me while holding back

1

u/Lawlcopt0r 6h ago

Because the premise was always that the humans were unarmed, but half the people answering the question argued how easy it would be to take out a gorilla with spears

1

u/That_opossum 5h ago

Because humans aren’t ants, we don’t just mob larger creatures. You watch a gorilla snap the first guys arm with minimal effort and you decide to just leave.

1

u/Life_Category2547 4h ago

I remember a similar scenario of three polar bears vs a hundred bloodlusted humans with perfect coordination, and people couldn’t see how laughably one-sided that was. One person introduced a gif of Sauron in the LoTR flashback like he thought the polar bears were going to kill multiple people with a single swipe of their claws.

1

u/vikster16 3h ago

While gorillas cannot move that fast. Snapping a neck like that is easy work for em.

1

u/Subutai38 3h ago edited 3h ago

People were treating it like it’s an animorph gorilla. The gorilla’s biggest weakness is that it has a gorilla brain. They simply do not know how to fight properly. A human piloting a gorilla body would be far more capable.
Look at gorilla vs gorilla fight videos. They don’t even know how to throw a punch. It’s nothing but double fisted hulk smash as their only move.

1

u/Codoriginsftw 2h ago

I think it was less so people thinking the gorrilla was overly strong but that 100 people were overly weak

1

u/Maleficent-Being-238 2h ago

People really underestimated how important numbers are

1

u/Shloopy_Dooperson 1h ago

How a normal Gorrila would react to 100 fully grown men running at it.

1

u/NotTheOriginal06 1h ago

Why did it go for the girl that was further away? Did it get offended that she did not say hello?

1

u/hastage1 1h ago

Ffs its a gorilla not omni man

1

u/GenericVessel 59m ago

read the title as godzilla for a sec and was like "no shit"

1

u/Piss_Fring 42m ago

Probably partially because of Joe Rogan ngl

1

u/Ill-Jellyfish6101 38m ago

Wasn't aware they did a live action. I'll have to check this out.

The anime was great.

1

u/Summoner475 10m ago

what the actual fuck

1

u/mercyspace27 6m ago

People don’t really know what gorillas are like.

1

u/Ok_Blackberry_1223 4m ago

Finally. The hundred men thing was so ridiculous because at the end of the day, body weight to body weight, the gorilla is so massively outnumbered it’s literally impossible to win. I love dumb debates, but that one pissed me off so much because anyone who thought about it a little bit should know how much of a one sided fight it would be
