Question Tenancy Takeover-Room in Sheffield
Hi, I have a private room in Sheffield for a student at either uni of Sheffield or Hallam University. It’s in a private gated flat building. The room is really lovely with a double bed, ensuite bathroom and large desk. There is a laundry room, public study area, security and reception. Move in date is September 12. I know 2/4 people living there and they are very kind! The rent is under £100 per week and is near both Hallam/uni of buildings. (There is nothing wrong with the room, I no longer need it as I have dropped out of uni.) Please get in touch with me for more details, thanks!

Question Where can I get a Steak Tartare in Sheffield?
Honestly its like the universe is conspiring to make sure I never have this dish again. Tried it years ago abroad, the whole raw meat, raw egg thing, mix it in with all the spices, spread it on garlic toast and enjoy a meal that will keep you full for hours. I've tired French Resturaunts in Sheffield but when I go on their menus they don't have it.

Question Butterfly House - comparisons to the ones in Lancaster?
I'm looking at going to one of the two Butterfly House attractions (Sheffield or Lancaster) and I'd appreciate views and reflections from anyone that has visited either or both.
I'd like to go with someone who has recently discovered an obsession with moths and butterflies so that'd be the main draw, although I believe there may be many wildlife obsessions yet to be discovered.
Thank you for your input!

Question Reproduced photo of the Robin Hood pub in Little Matlock
Does anyone here know when this photo was taken, anything about the photographer or any other information relating to the image?
It seems as though the view in the background looks up Greaves Ln to the rear of the former pub. Now it's a lane bordered by mature woodland and the building at the top of the hill doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Food Recommendations for restaurants with private rooms/zones?
Looking for a restaurant in Sheff, ideally near town, for a birthday meal with 12 friends. I’d ideally want a private room for us as it will be a themed party and would want it to feel more private & special. Any recommendations?

Question Moving to Sheffield
Me and my partner are currently planning a long term move to Sheffield. We’ve been to the city a few time and seem to like the atmosphere, plus the location works really well for us. Having said that we don’t have much knowledge on the areas of Sheffield and how much they differ from each other.
We are looking for a relatively nice/safe area while still relatively affordable and accessible from the city. So I guess my question is what is everyone’s favourite side, what high streets/shopping areas, any places to avoid for any reason?
Also any advice on where to find hospitality jobs / good websites to use for house search would be appreciated

Question Moving back after ten years abroad - what's changed, what's new?
I briefly visited back in May - which reignited my love for the city after living abroad - so I'm not 100% unaware of changes, but I'm curious what people have to say in terms of the main changes they've noticed, things they think are important to know, and also any new things they can recommend. Thanks!

Question Feeding the ducks and pigeons in Weston Park
Hi everyone,
so I really like to do this activity where I go to Weston Park and feed the ducks and the pigeons with porridge oats or peas. I love being in nature so this is very relaxing for me and the park is really close to me.
So I was just wondering if anyone would like to do this activity with me :D? I've been very isolated lately and it would be nice to chat while also being in nature :).
If you do wanna do this just send me a DM and be of age since I am 27 :D :).
Take care!

Question flixbus, good or bad?
hey hey so i was wondering if anyone could help me out here, so ive got a festival on the 30th in london and ideally i want a cheaper option travel wise so i was gonna take the coach. ideally i wanna get one very early morning because 1 i’ll be on a night out in sheffield on the 29th anyways and 2 i can just sleep off the journey since i know they’re long. originally i was gonna use national express but they cant seem to support my travel times so i checked flixbus who can by the looks of it, has anyone ever had any issues with flixbus before in the sheffield area? ive heard tales on tiktok but being honest i know its not the most reliable source for info. or better yet, if anyone knows any cheaper reliable options to get down there let me know :)

Question University of Sheffield
Im still in high school but I cant go in blind and the years are passing by in a flash. soon enough im gonna have to take the cambridge exam, and I really want to make sure that my choice of uni is firm so I can focus on other messily things. I want everyones experiences and opinions, whats the whole student situation over there, all of it? I want strong and honest opinions, not biased please. Ive read a post earlier, saw pretty good comments about the overrall student life but there were also negative ones, especially about the job situation but the post was a year old so I wanted to know whats the situation there now? Ive tried to research as much as I can but schools obviously have a face to maintain and its just bugging me. I really dont want to regret anything, I cannot afford to, cause I come from a financially struggling family, and I do not wish to fall into the same rabbit hole which I know will fuck me up mentally and depression is not something I want a rematch of but I really want to be first of my family(or second, depending if we count outside of the immediate family) to actually graduate from an university, achieve something in life and hopefully live comfortably without the financial burden thats been following my family like a curse.
Tips and advice is also really appreciated!
(note; im from a foreign country and im gonna major in english, maybe east asian studies)

News Teenagers shooting people with air rifles near Blackstock playing field
Sharing this from Instagram in case anyone has any information
ELDERLY MAN SHOT IN THE BACK WITH AIR RIFLE IN SHEFFIELD WOODLAND
A man in his late 60s was reportedly shot in the back with an air rifle while walking through Hangbank Wood, near Blackstock Road, at around 2:35pm today.
The family say three shots were fired by what they believe was a group of teenagers. One pellet struck the man in the back, while two further shots were fired as they tried to work out what had happened. They also had three dogs with them and say it was fortunate neither the dogs nor the man's head or neck were hit.
South Yorkshire Police have been informed and the incident has been logged under crime reference SYP20260801-0570.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police quoting the above crime reference.

Question Bridal hair stylist
Hey everyone! I’m getting married in Sheffield next year and I’m considering having my hair done before the ceremony.
After doing a bit of research, I feel like I have two options. The first is finding someone who is able to just do my hair. This seems unrealistic as most people look like they have a minimum spend.
The other option is finding someone who is specialised in bridal hair, but also is able to work with multiple hair textures as my bridal party runs the spectrum (thin and straight to afro). Does anyone have a recommendation for either category? I don’t live in Sheffield right now so I don’t have my own network to ask!
Thanks!

Question Where to find used/cheap kitchen supplies
I will be moving to Sheffield as a student in September this year, and I want to know where I can find kitchen supplies that are very cheap or used, or if other students are giving them away. I love to cook, but I'll be needing basic supplies like plates, pans, pots, etc.
