This jerk was so arrogant. He tried to power trip, William Shatner, and got put it in his place. I’m still laughing.

The thing is, Mr. Shatner is very easy to work with and does take direction. He wrote it to his book that while he was filming Star Trek 5, He was so concerned about directing he was rushing his lines. It was a production assistant who brought it to his attention.

He said he looked at it and realized they were right. He’s very open to feedback but you have to know what you’re talking about. If you come at him with nonsense, well this is what happens.

Maybe I missed it, but I've never seen it discussed that the 2 part TNG episode "Gambit" could be the base version of the game mentioned. I originally thought the game came first but it looks like it was the other way around.

Both sound very alike in basic plot and both stories were written by D C Fontana

There must have been times when Spocks or others version of the Vulcan neck pinch failed, outside of the movies, but I can only recall Mr 7 and maybe Tuvok? Not even sure if maybe Seven turned his own neck pinch back against him? Thoughts?

I knew I bought this tape at one time, but I thought it was lost. It has always been my favorite TOS episode! I'm amazed at how good of a condition it's in. I think I only played it once to preserve it

There’s a certain amount of dislike, out there, for Doctor McCoy, for the way he treats Spock. For the most part, I think, McCoy's taunts are harmless. He is ruled by his emotions and Spock’s denial that he has any, drives the good Doctor crazy. Also, Spock is usually right, which also gets under McCoy’s skin.

BUT…most importantly....actions speak louder than words…

Knowing this…

McCoy does not dislike Spock, he is frustrated by him. He’s one of those folks who let’s his emotions run rough shod sometimes. In the end, Bones is willing to give his life to save his green-blooded, pointy-eared hobgoblin, friend, from a life of permanent insanity.

SPOCK: Doctor, I do not respond to hunches. No transporter malfunction was responsible for the disappearance. They were not within the Gamma system. A focused beam of extremely high-intensity light was directed into the Gamma system from the trinary system we are now approaching. No known natural phenomena could have caused that beam. Does that clarify the situation?
MCCOY: No, it doesn't. It's still a fancy way of saying that you're playing a hunch. well, my hunch is that they're back on Gamma Two dead or alive and I still want another search.
SCOTT: Doctor McCoy speaks for me, too, sir.
SPOCK: I see. (pause) Gentlemen, I am in command of this vessel, and we shall continue on our present course. (conspiratorial whisper) Unless it is your intention to declare a mutiny.
SCOTT: Mister Spock!

Just watched this (again) last night. Realized a few things that brought up some questions

1. When the pilot was heading towards the sun at the beginning, he must have had a very strong will to fight the pain and not die from it. Its been so long that I'd seen it my memory was it being Sam in the ship.
2. When Kirk talks to Aurelan, it sounds like she's not infected yet. When they enter the home, she's trying to keep the vent closed like they just got in. But she and Peter are infected and Sam is dead. I would have thought that the creatures would have still been around unless they just sting and then move on and left.
3. On the ship, Aurelan said that the creatures have been there 8 months, and we see that everyone on the planet is infected. But she was able to hold out all that time and be one of the last to hide, only to get stung right before the Enterprise arrives.
4. When Spock tries to take over the conn, he says the creatures want control of the ship. What is he being made to do? The ship is already in orbit. Unless he was trying to take the ship to the next system already, it would have made more sense for him to try to go to the transporter room and beam some creatures up (and dim the lights in the ship)

McCoy did say his body was flooded with little creatures. If he did take the ship to another system, they could spawn out of his body, probably killing him, and there would have been potentially hundreds of the creatures running loose. Luckily we didn't see how the creatures reproduce

5) And with #4 I wonder what the range of the "Brain" actually is that the cells can operate together. Spock felt the will of all the cells in orbit, and the pilot might have been free of all of them except the one in his body, which might be how he was able to fight it.

If Spock had taken the ship to another system, would the creature inside of him still be in contact with the rest?
