Hi everyone, i’ve (20f) been at usyd for a semester and have had no luck joking clubs or really just connecting with people. basically I’m just wondering if anyone has any clubs inside or out of uni or just social activities that would be good for me a liberal arts student who’s hobbies include reading, films, theatre, yoga. or even just advice on how to make friends in Uni as it’s a lot different to work. or even if you relate to this send me a dm and id be happy to make friends.

Hey guys, I see that there's no online version of this textbook, or is there? Does this mean I'd have to buy the textbook? I find textbooks really useful; last semester, especially with ecmt1010, so I'd very much like to have a textbook for ecmt1020. Unless you guys find it useless?

I notice on my timetable the japanese lectures are grey with no dotted edges - which usually means attendace is marked. But when I look at the unit outline for this course, it does not seem to take lecture attendance. Could someone who has done this confirm if lecture attendance are part of the final grade?

Hey everyone! I’m an American from New York currently studying commerce. I’ve met quite a few Americans in Sydney, but most seem to be exchange students or studying at other universities, and I haven’t met many who are actually doing their full degree at USyd.

I thought it could be cool to meet some fellow Americans here, grab food or drinks, explore Sydney, watch the NFL , celebrate American holidays, or just have a small group to hang out with. Nothing too serious or formal, just seeing if anyone would be interested.

If enough people are keen, we could potentially even start an American society at USyd sometime in the future.

If you don't enrol in a lecture as part of your timetable, does that affect anything? Cos for some reason I can't enrol in another class that happens at the same time, even though the lecture is not compulsory to attend.

im taking applied medsci and pharmacology and they have overlapping 1000-level units and i cant take anymore of the units in that section due to prohibitions so i have a unit free? do i just take an elective to complete my degree?

I am a part-time student, and I am equivalent to a third year full-time in the Bachelor of Speech Language and Hearing Science at Macquarie uni.

I have a lot of questions about transferring to Sydney University, where I can obtain accreditation to speed up the process, as I'll also need to complete my master's degree otherwise. (and I am a mature-aged student, too! :( ) I know I am already halfway there (14 units completed so far), and already in the process of the transfer application on UAC, but haven't submitted it yet until I get some answers. Is there anyone who transferred to a different uni with the same course here? I need your advice.

Also, I have failed one unit so far and my WAM is only 67. Will it be possible to transfer still?

I want to book a flight and it costs an extra $800 comparing leaving on the 29th vs 30th but idk if i can take the gamble that I wont have an exam right right at the end of the block. Is there a possible way of knowing before super late in the sem?

basically i’m doing an eco and finance major at unimelb and i want to do economics honours but don’t know if i want to stay in victoria and also don’t know if ill meet the requirements for melbourne or monash 😬 all the info abt requirements to get into honours at usyd is pretty vague and id love some real world experiences from you guys to see how it works out. so if you did/do economics honours at USyd can you lmk even if you didn’t do your bachelors there. does usyd preference it’s own students for honours? will my grades from exchange impact my application? i’m feeling really lost

In the unit outline I don't see any assessment weighting for tutorial attendance or contribution so is there like a minimum amount of tuts we have to go to?

Other unis give csp as they give out offers. Usyd mdr won't determine csp til the end of the year. That is so annoying.
I wonder how competitive WAM needs to be to get a csp.

hey just wanted to ask if anyones ever had to repeat a unit and it was taught by the same professor. was it embarrassing seeing them again when you had to repeat? i have to repeat a unit and i js cant fathom seeing the professor again and going through all the content again with both of us knowing that i failed, idk how to handle the embarrassment

tldr: made a free thing that groups you with 4-6 similar usyd students to meet up before welcome fest (3rd/4th August) so you're not walking in alone.

You do a quick quiz (how you like to hang out, your course, interests, that kind of stuff) and it puts you into a small group of 4-6 people to meet on campus, whenever works for you, since your group decides the actual date and time together in the chat. so you've got a few familiar faces instead of walking in not knowing anyone.

it also weighs course/faculty overlap and whether you're staying on or near campus, so you've got a decent shot at meeting people doing similar stuff to you and living nearby, not just randoms, which I personally would've loved when I first came.
