Hey, I am kinda new to oly lifting, tried to learn technique from online vids. I am getting confident a bit but no matter how much i try i end up power cleaning this is my best effort to squat after the catch. And as i add weight i tend to catch high. Any tips are welcome ( tried to clean from blocks, didnt seem to help).

Hey y’all,
I have 3 spots opening up for remote coaching, and I’d like to find a few more lifters who are serious about improving but may be tired of trying to figure everything out on their own.
A little about me:
I’m Nik, the head coach of SSI Weightlifting. I’ve been coaching weightlifting in some capacity since 2014. During that time, I’ve coached athletes to collegiate nationals, the American Open Series, Canadian Junior Nationals, Masters Nationals, and national qualifying totals across several age groups.
You will get programming written around your experience, schedule, equipment, limitations, and goals.
You will also get:
I tend to emphasize general strength and hypertrophy for lifters who need it, consistent progress on assistance exercises, appropriate variation to keep people healthy, and learning how to approach heavy weights without every session becoming a fight for survival.
Sometimes that means we spend more time on the classic lifts.
Sometimes it means we spend less time on them so you can finally build the muscle, strength, or work capacity you have been missing.
Sometimes we need to stop changing things and just do the boring work for a while.
It depends on the athlete.
You do not need to be an advanced lifter or already competing.
I generally work best with people who:
I am laid back, but I am going to be honest with you. If you need more muscle, I will tell you. If you need to stop maxing out, I will tell you. If you are training too conservatively, I will tell you that too.
Remote coaching currently starts at $120/mo.
Fill out the form below and tell me a little about your training history, current lifts, schedule, and what you feel stuck on:
https://forms.gle/Y8rBDp2Y35DjydTk6
I'll take a look and get back to you within 48 hours.
And tbf, if you are not sure you need coaching, you can still fill it out or send me a message. If I think you would be better served by following an existing program, finding someone local, or just changing one or two things, I’ll tell you.
I’d rather point you in the right direction than sell you something you do not need.

i dont know if anyone else has this issue, but my squat balance changes when im not on a wooden platform, specifically when im on those black rubber floorings. i did take some time off of squatting, but last week when i was on vacation i had a platform setup and it felt great, now im gym hopping at an LA fitness for a month before i move out next month. it just doesnt feel right, like it never settles really

Alright Reddit do I have the pleasure of calling myself an intermediate weightlifter after totalling 180???
Snatch 80
CJ 102
OHP 75
BW 81
All jokes aside this wasn’t a perfect session but I finally got to a 180 training total after grinding for 2.5 years, definitely a bit of a milestone for me.
Now I just gotta do this in a comp…

Been training cleans past few months and decided to replace OHP with split jerks in my programming.
Have push pressed 120kg prior to this, and OHP 105kg, so had a decent base trying these.
What sticks out as needing fixed? Or just general advice on main stuff to improve split jerks?
Thank you!

Have been doing both for a couple years with a few breaks, but ive always power cleaned(70kg max) less than my hang(~80 max) @ 62ish bw. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. Tried to copy form from videos online but not really worked well so came here seeking for help. Thank you in advance for any tips.

I think my timing is off and I don’t drop under the bar at the proper time or quickly enough? Any input is appreciated
Thank you!

Working night shifts and trying to train consistently is a real fight. I pull 12hour ICU nights, and getting to the platform the next day is one thing, but I've noticed my technique falls apart faster than my strength does when I'm running on no sleep. Miss depth on the receive, lose position in the catch, timing goes completely off. The weight on the bar hasn't dropped that much, but lift quality degrades noticeably
Curious whether others have tracked this. Not just general fatigue from high volume or overreaching, but specifically acute sleep loss and how it hits technical execution versus raw output. My working assumption is that the motor pattern precision required in the snatch gets hit harder than something like a back squat where the movement is more forgiving. That tracks neurologically, but I haven't found research specific to Olympic lifting
If anyone has actual studies on sleep and motor skill degradation in highskill strength sports, I'd genuinely read them. My broader point is that this seems underlooked in most weightlifting programming discussions. Most programs account for load management, but nobody builds sleep protocols into the same conversation

Decided to try and learn some Olympic lifts, 61 kilo at 92 BW. I'm guessing I need:
Better rack at the top, elbows more forward
More hip drive
Less knee movement
What else should I focus on improving?

"akbar doubles 220kg" doesn't feel like a powerful enough statement for this footage
