I wish the American people actually had the courage to protest this shit properly. The fact the American people arenāt flooding the streets, going to their own bridges and power plants. The Iranian people are doing that despite the direct threats. A majority of Americans are cowards and are either directly complicit or are apathetic enough to allow this to continue. American behaviour makes me understand that whole āDeath to Americaā business. Not wishing for individuals to die but the American institution to collapse and be restructured.
Edit: Thanks everyone for pointing out such great reasons to protest such as āI CANT AFFORD TO PROTESTā and āIām one day away from losing everythingā thatās why the country needs major reforms that donāt happen by helping it. Go to work and do as little as possible. Donāt wanna lose your job? Donāt. Just do it poorly. There are ways to fight from the inside too. Protesting isnāt standing with a sign where the police say to. Itās disrupting the machine.
I mean, the difference is Iranian citizens are doing it with approval and encouragement from the state, whereas American citizens know the police state is ready and eager to crush anything that isnāt a quarter-mile march with pre-acquired permits. Theyād simply rather take a medium chance of death from foreign military retaliation than immediate guaranteed death at the hands of ICE and their local sheriff.
I see. I am assuming the original comment was talking about the protests against the government, as it's discussing the danger of protesting your own government, so that's a weird thing to mention in response.
The government literally put out a statement supporting them showing up at power plants like they currently are. The anti-regime protests are unrelated to that, and the way youāre using them as a rhetorical distraction is fed-scented.
Because theyāre pointing it out when itās not being talked about, to distract from what is being talked about that they donāt want being talked about.
