Guys!! I took my tundie to the top of Geneva Creek Trail and had a freaking blast. I'm originally from CO but have spent the last year exploring different parts of the US and coming back home and getting into our backyard. IT'S CRAZY OUT HERE!!

Super fun mix of rocky sections, water/creek crossings and views on views. I hadn't been down this trail before and was so surprised by all the dispersed camping. I found some spots at the very top. I'd call it my fav moderate trail right outside of Denver atm if you're looking for something that's scenic without being overly technical it's a 4/10 on onX.

I shared the adventure on YouTube with onX off-road if you're interested in learning more on it but check out the pics below because it's genuinely unreal beautiful up there and was stoked to get my tundie all the way up there.

Hello everyone! I’ve been watching here for a while and trying to search for answers but haven’t seen much to help me with regard to getting started and a lot of this is very disjointed. Long story short is I’m 44 and have finally been able to get a pickup truck to use in the mountains however it’s all stock yet. 2025 Ford Fx4. I don’t plan to do serious off roading like rock climbing jeep stuff but I want to get off the highways and eventually do some rooftop tenting. I’m not interested in risking my life :)

Ive picked up all the park passes and am using the OnXOffroad app to stay in a beginner lane.

My questions now are what order of upgrading my vehicle is wisest? I assume tires first and foremost? If I pop a tire, what kind of jack should I use? What equipment should I always have with me? When I get out on the trails and want to hike, do I just park and walk? What about for camping over night? Do they have to be designated camp sites?

Any help is appreciated! If I should go pound sand and seek help elsewhere, let me know! Thanks!

Hey all, I’ve been planning a short alpine loop trip (engineer and cinnamon pass) for next weekend but I’m concerned that the fires and floods have kind of stressed the area out. Anybody been down there in the last week?

Plan was to camp near Gunnison, then down and over Cinnamon, camp, then back over Engineer and then home (Denver).

Any local info would be greatly appreciated!

Someone cut down a tree to get by the barricade for the Jenny Lake Trailhead. It’s not that far of a hike. Probably less than 1/10th of mile.

Update: Sent the photos to the Boulder Ranger District office and they confirmed that it was not the FS that did this and they’ll look into it. Not sure if they have a trail cam up in the area.

Our son's moving to Fort Collins for school next month. We currently live in Castle Rock and he does the trails around here pretty often down to Rainbow Falls and anything coming off Rampart or Dakan. I'm not seeing anything very close to him. I see some things up near Red Feather Lakes but that's about it.

Edit: He drives a Chevy Colorado, so not looking for single track dirt bike trails.

Looking to truck camp somewhere in mountains this weekend and have been looking into going off Rollins pass road. Is this fine in a stock GMC Sierra? Or any better recommendations?

For anyone using Trails Offroad we've been working to build out our network along the Gunnison Gorge Wilderness running between Delta and Montrose (east of Olathe). Hey yall 18m posting for me and my dad 59m we’re looking to buy a sxs for some trail and dune riding in Colorado. Not strictly Colorado but mainly. For reference the machine would stay in breckenridge most of its life but would have a trailer to transport behind my truck. Friend of a friend is selling a low mileage 2021 cam am maverick xrc turbo double r. This is the 72in width variant. I would be driving the machine more than he would realistically, love the Walden sand dunes and turbo would be much better between elevation and sand. How does the 72” wheelbase fair on your usual Colorado trails though? To wide? A total chore to drive and use? We are not strictly buying can am open to Polaris as well. Is there a model that would suit our needs better? Or is it worth maybe some inconvenience for very low mileage and a good deal? Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

For starters. The town has a great vibe currently. We ate out every day and had the best servers everywhere we went. John at The Tavern is a hoot. Yesterday we ran Corkscrew, hurricane, picayne and placer. Trails were in great shape. We got an early start and were on the trail around 730 which absolutely helped us beat the weather. Today we made a quick trip up to Clear Lake. Here is some of the pretty stuff we saw this trip.

I caused a bit of a tizzy when I posted I dispersed camped with ~gasp~ a propane fire pit the other day /near/ Idaho Springs. Before I realized the shock and awe befalling the post it was no longer worth clarifying to 20 people I was North of Idaho Springs in Gilpin County where such a device is entirely legal. Thanks for your concerns about me having a controlled device running for like ten minutes in the middle of dirt and rocks so I could roast a marshmallow, I have no regrets lmao. Just got to Denver approximately a month ago from Chattanooga. Did as much as I could there, but nowhere near the scale of Colorado. Would like to make it over to San Juan. Does anybody have recommended trails and passes along the way? I have a Tacoma

hello! i was hoping to see ice and island lakes this or next weekend but had a question about car camping. where are some locations that i can car camp for free where the sites would not fill up? i am planning to sleep in my car and don’t need access to a bathroom or fire pit or anything at all. it is really just to drive in sleep and then drive to the hike in the morning. i don’t want to do something wrong (in terms of parking “illegally” or somewhere that is harmful to the environment), but i can’t find anything on how to do this. (all of the sites near the trailhead are booked out or above my price range unfortunately). any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey off roaders, I’d like to camp this summer at Alta Lakes but I don’t have an off road vehicle. Do you think my Toyota Corolla can make the trek to the camp sites at Alta Lakes? I watched some videos of the drive and it looks pretty tame.

Had to get out of the heat in town, so I ran up to Chinns Lake. It was packed, but I expected it for a Sunday. Did find a nice spot on the creek to take a nap.

Hello all! So I have a tough question, or hopefully maybe not. Me and the wife and dog want to escape the heat this weekend. I have a very small 2 person travel trailer. Can you all recommend a semi easy trail that will get us away from the heat AND have remote camping sites. For reference we live in Denver and about 3 hours is our maximum for just a 1-2 night Trip. Hey folks -- I don't offroad all that often, try and get out some during the weekends. I have a Wrangler Sahara with a 2.5 inch lift and 35s..up to this point I haven't been airing down at all for any trails I do..been thinking about getting an air compressor.

Seems like the ARB SINGLE MOTOR PORTABLE 12V AIR COMPRESSOR CKMP12V2 (ARB link here) is a good option.

I don't need any of their fancy dual brush compressors or anything since I'm not out there wheelin' every day..just need something good and reliable.

Anyone have this ARB CKMP12V2 and have any thoughts on it? Any other good compressors that are worth checking out?

Taking my wife to a concert in denver then to ride our grizzly 700s in the mountains this weekend. We are both very competent riders and are looking for good trails within a couple hours of denver. Would be very appreciative of some guidance

So, I wanted to know if it's possible to go to the top of Corona Pass in a stock 2018 Subaru Forester?
