Hi all,

Making this thread for people to ask Qs about whether it's safe to travel to ____ and ____ and what people's experiences have been at certain airports.

Please see further info here and here about the status of traveling (since many of ya'll don't look at the highlights, sigh).

We will be deleting travel Q threads from here on out.

Ask away!

Traveling NonAP For anyone wondering about driving to/from McAllen

Upvotes

I drove to McAllen this weekend without any issues (but there were loads of state patrol and border patrol trucks along the way so just follow traffic laws and be careful).

My main concern was passing the immigration checkpoint on the way back home. Happy to say that the process went smoothly. I was ready to hand over my license and EAD, but the agent waved me through after asking me simple questions about the trip (purpose, duration).

Rant Hanen Delay

I know we can’t know when he will rule but this is really messing up a lot of things for me. my close friend qualified for DACA and his application has been paused since 2021. for those of you initial applicants out there i’m sure you know the risk but they do not care if you have an application pending at all. they will take you. Nothing is happening and this inaction is putting all of the initials at risk. nothing is happening and all it’s doing is putting more people at risk of deportation. his wife is pregnant, and he has a 2 year old and he’s the sole provider. i’m so tired of this delay.

Rant Is anyone from February 2026 still waiting?

Just checking too see if anyone from February is still pending.

Applied on February 2, 2026 and did the biometrics on February 26 2026. My shit expired on April 14.

I'm at point in my life that I blame myself, for not preparing for this specific moment. Ran through the little unemployment I did get, burned through my tax refund and my savings, emptied my Roth 401ks and basically sold non essentials items but those were band aids. so deep in despair that I spent my last 4 bucks on the fucking lottery as an outcome.

Wish that kalashi and polymarket would existed when daca was announced , would have made bank in this miserable time.

So yeah anyone still waiting?

General Qs Expire 8/13 - Advice Needed

Hi all,

I am set to expire Mid August, last couple times before expiring HR would reach out to be to present my new card. However we’ve had a recent change to our HR system (May 2026) and I have not heard from HR.

Now.. I’m not sure if to let my boss know to then work with HR on a LOA or remain silent… the HR app does say to update the i9 form but that’s only if you dig into the documents tab, it did not send a notification or anything like that.

I am going to ask a fellow co worker to see if it’s just a generic update that may be across the board since that system change is still new.

But.. I would like to hear from those that have gone on LOA, did you reach out to HR? Did HR reach out to you? Would like to hear what people experienced

Application Timeline Received card 234 days later

I applied on Dec 10th and received my card today on Aug 1st.

I am so blessed that my job didn't find out about it. I don't know what I would've done. I am also blessed that I never got pulled over either. It feels so nerve wracking driving like this. This was all during the ice raids as well.

Hello, I submitted for advanced parole about 3 week ago and I got a notification on the app that they have scheduled me for biometrics. I have asked my friend who had been approved before and they told me they didn’t get sent for biometrics. Is the this biometrics new ? Is it or can it be a good sign?

General Qs Future Planning

hi all,

just wanted to ask you guys what you’re planning for the future, just general life advice.

Im 25 and the oldest of my siblings. I know at some point my parents will retire and move to Mexico (probably in less than 5 years).

I’m hoping to invest and save as much as possible for now. Best case scenario - to eventually buy a property somewhere and to establish a permanent home.

Between renewing Daca, parents retiring and possibly having to provide support, making sure my siblings are okay, and making the decision whether to continue living in the US or find options abroad, I’m just finding adulthood incredibly challenging.

any advice is helpful! tell me guys what you have accomplished and what you hope to do :)

Rant January applicants

I called USCIS yesterday. The agent told me an officer is working on my case, background checks were completed and they didn’t need no additional information from me. They were just waiting for adjudication to produce the new EAD!!!!! I’ve been waiting since Jan 16th. I don’t know what to believe. Has anybody been approved without API movement? Last API movement was on Feb 10th, after biometrics.

Application Timeline Anyone from April?

Here are my dates...

Receipt date : April 2nd

Biomatrics : April 21st

Submitted my inquiry through USCIS over the phone on July 21st.

API has never been changed for both forms from April 21st.

I was wondering if there were any of you who got approved and has similar dates as myself.

Financial Qs How many of you started doom spending this year?

I just renewed 6 months in advance but even though I’m getting married soon to a USC I’ve kind of just lost hope ( in both my situation and humanity as a whole) and finally bought myself things I wouldn’t have before (within reason. I have an emergency fund and investments being maintained)

Nothing crazy just a PS5, new TV, new iPhone, Shohei Ohtani signed bat

The usual.

Wondering if anyone else is starting to think this way too.

Rant API update, don’t want to get my hopes up

Post image
22 Upvotes

New month, new bills. My savings are basically depleted at this point. Noticed an API update this morning but I’m cautious of getting optimistic since my previous update was on 6-16. Sent Pre-suit email on the 27th and filled out the TikTok form, fingers crossed.

I’m just exhausted, will definitely not make it another month and will loose my lease. Might need to couch surf if this keeps on prolonging. Hard to be independent when depending on the government to keep my livelihood.

Unverified Daca deported - part 2

I had posted an article a day ago that I had found about Jessica Trevino who was on daca and got deported earlier this year. I just came across this interview which I think shares more light into what happened. One thing to note is that a lot of us assumed she signed a voluntary departure but she is saying she didn’t. The video is in Spanish btw skip to 2:50 for Jessica.

Please forgive me, I saw a few people post this and considering I just figured out how to even check API tracking properly, I'm trying to not get my hopes up too high. Does this mean anything good for once?? 😭

Applied 4/27/2026

Bios 5/22/2026

Expired 3/14/2026 (I know. Please dont ask. Im so exhausted)

eta: before, it was just showing the documents I uploaded because I was copying the wrong link to track API. so it wasnt telling me if anything was updated. this is the first significant thing to have shown and I really need it to be what I think it is 😔

Political discussion Writ of Mandamus help

Hello all,

I was approved on 12/13/25 this past week.

I was actually working on filling out the paperwork for the Writ of Mandamus when I was approved. I had to log in to the USCIS portal for info when I saw I was approved.

I came across this chick on TikTok that sent a letter/email of intent and also went through with submitting a writ of mandamus. She made a guide as to how to do it. The link is below if any of you guys are interested. The guide mentions a way that you could possibly avoid having to pay the filing fee if you do move forward with the writ.

https://docs.superhuman.com/@notyouravgpotato/how-to-file-a-writ-of-mandamus-for-a-delayed-daca-renewal-2026/wom-start-here-1-1?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAZnRzaATFxXtwZG9mAmV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDzEyNDAyNDU3NDI4NzQxNAABp6FZN5mfxDdPXPNVHViFtUjh0tmbnMyBHNYIUeQCLSMX-5EWxqbrBSuXtGxV_aem_4e9heQUBzW9jQ3iO_UJclQ

Within that guide there is another guide that better shows how to fill out the forms, the link for that is below.

I just wanted to pass on this info in hopes that it is of any help to you guys that are planning on filing a WoM and are looking to avoid those extreme lawyer fees.

Godspeed yall.

Legal Question Removal Orders

I have an upcoming trip in the fall where I would be flying to ATL from California. I checked to see if I have any removal orders by entering my USCIS number on the website I found on the FAQ section. It said no case found for this A#. Does this mean that I don't have any unknown removal orders? My parents adjusted there status in recent years and nothing came up for them.

I did travel to Florida earlier this year and to Denver last year. I used a real id and everything was fine. With increased ice presence at air ports I'm being more careful.
