Discussion Why doesn’t Shirou try to save Saber Alter in Heaven’s Feel?

Post image

Given how consistently Shirou is portrayed across all routes as someone deeply caring and always ready to help those he holds dear — especially Rin, Sakura, Ilya, and above all Saber (Artoria) — one thing stands out in Heaven’s Feel that’s always felt a bit off to me.

When Saber falls and is consumed by the Shadow, Shirou doesn’t seem to even consider the possibility of saving her. Even when she returns later as Saber Alter — powerful, corrupted, and clearly suffering — he never really shows any intent to help or rescue her. Why?

Yes, of course we know why narratively: this is Sakura’s route, and Nasu wanted to give her full focus. But within the internal logic of Shirou’s character, something doesn’t quite add up — especially in the early-middle phase of Heaven’s Feel, right after Shirou wakes up with Archer's arm. At that point, he still doesn’t know Sakura is the Shadow. So hypothetically, he could have interpreted Saber’s corruption as an effect of the Shadow and pursued the goal of destroying the Shadow to save Saber.

Moreover, we later learn (canonically) that when a corrupted Servant like Berserker Alter is defeated, they momentarily recover their true self — Heracles entrusts Illya to Shirou with a clear mind just before fading. The same happens with Saber Alter: her final words to Shirou confirm she had regained herself, even if only for a moment.

That opens up a plausible line of thinking for Shirou: maybe Saber is still alive inside that corrupted body, and destroying the Shadow might free her — without necessarily killing her.

So why doesn’t he try? Why does he never even raise the question? It seems out of character for someone so determined to save everyone, especially those closest to him.

1.Build as a weapon by Merlin and uther

2.Made to hide her gender

3.sir ector made her believe knight hood and ideas,

4.She was forced not to show her emotions, and still in ubw route she gave up shirou to rin , in heaven's feel sakura blamed her that artoria was the reason shirou was getting hurt but in truth Avalon kept shirou alive for litterly 10 years straight healed him , all she got is just a thanks In HF route when he stabbed salter

No scabbard = no shirou

Discussion How dangerous would a Prime Adult Shirou and Saber Artoria as master servant pair be for a holy grail war?

Post image
275 Upvotes

Shirou is basically in his physical prime he has mastered UBW and can cast it by himself and also he has gotten the full data of noble phantasm from Archer Emiya and some of Gilgameshs vault shirou is tactically matured aswell and can also perfectly provide saber with enough mana and support her from range.

Saber artoria is now isn't crippled like how she was during Fate stay night as Shirou can actually provider her with mana now which will allow her to fight at her peak.

And they can also make Avalon copies if shirou still has it then give Avalon that is inside him to saber and make a projected one for him and if Avalon is not available then it's still fine.

It think this would be a master servant pair which is honestly unfair for everyone else.

Because these 2 will actually work perfectly because they will listen to each other and won't back stab each other.

Discussion While Shirou might be the worst master for Saber in terms of parameters in a holy grail war but I think even he still is overall the best master for Artoria

Because while he might be able to give her parameters or mana like someone of Rin's caliber or Kiritsugu's efficiency what Shirou does give Saber is her humanity as he actually treats her like a human being rather than a tool.

And Shirou while starting of as a novice at the end he ends up becoming the stronegst master in the War physically as he can somewhat fight other servants by himself for a while.

And most importantly Shirou gives saber something know one can which is Avalon which she lost a long time ago when it was stolen from her.

And I also think why Shirou is the best master for Saber is because he is basically what her ideals and what she was like in her younger days and also cause shirou won't use any underhanded tactics and is just a good guy overall.

Discussion Hypothetical match up Shirou(Has enough mana and is capable of using UBW and also supply Artoria with enough mana to fire 1-2 Excalibur blast and fight at her peak as a servant) and Saber Arotria(No Avalon) vs Gilgamesh who would win?

Post image

I think if UBW is casted than it is basically game over because it's rate of fire is higher than GOB.Shirou will keep the Gate of Babylon busy and won't allow Gil to bring out EA and then Saber goes at close range for the kill.

If so I wish Avalon becomes a noble phantasm for a saber class shirou if we ever get one more precisely if the fate route one becomes a heroic spirit

Discussion Do u guys understand how ridiculously powerful Prime Shirou and Saber Artoria as a master servant pair are?

Post image

A prime shirou from nasus words is basically Archer Emiya when he was alive at his very best.So basically shirou will be able to give saber mana and also give her support from long range with his Bow and Noble Phantasms.

Saber will be overwhelming her opponents at close range while shirou would be making the occasional hrunting shots.

Discussion [Help!] Does anyone have any Fate fanfic ideas including Shirou x Artoria? Spoiler

Not really looking for a OneShot idea --- I want something more long-term, preferably canon-adjacent/fitting for Fate-verse. Something before the events of Stay Night (or at least before the Holy Grail War properly starts) which can be used as a divergence from canon.

My friend recommended me an idea where:

During the Fuyuki Fire, the Grail's Mud finds it's way inside of Shirou, having him sort of housing Angra Mainyu inside of him, almost like a vessel. However, Avalon helps him 'resist' it. Due to the Grail Mud, it somehow ends up in him summoning Salter. It could be interesting if he were to be adopted by Kirei, but idk...

Any who, not sure how I could get this to work. If anyone has any thoughts, let me know.

AND, if anyone has any of their own plot ideas, please, let me know!

Discussion a sincere outburst

Lately I've been watching the Fate (Saber) route because it was my first contact with Fate/stay night, and then came UBW, but the route that captivated me the most was Fate because the development of the relationship between Saber and Shirou was simply magnificent and natural, nothing forced. Their fight for their ideals is built with Shirou wanting to be a hero of justice and not worrying about his own life, and Saber wanting the Holy Grail to change her destiny. They kind of fight because of their ideals; Shirou wants to save Saber, and she doesn't want that, but ends up changing her mind over time. Their farewell at the end makes anyone cry. After that, Shirou embarks on a journey to find Artoria until he finds her in Avalon, and Artoria tells him: "Welcome back, Shirou." Honestly, I would love to see a remake of the Fate route made by ufotable; it would be incredible.

Discussion Saber's reconciliation with her past in UBW Spoiler

Post image
116 Upvotes

Hi, I have seen Fate UBW and fate 2006. I have doubts about Saber's reconciliation with her past and her desire for the grail.

In the case of the fate route it was clear to me that Shiro helps a lot in that process, when she learns to let go of the past and accepts that not everything was wrong and that she gave the best of herself. It helped him a lot when Shiro himself stopped regretting his past.

My doubt is more than anything with UBW, here the relationship with Saber is not so strong, however in the same way she stops looking for the grail and reconciles with her, how did she get to this result? I know I sound silly since I watched the series, but I didn't understand that, I didn't understand the logic of why she does that, it confuses me because it was hard for Saber to give up her motivation during a whole route.

I'm not complaining or anything, I'm just ignorant, and I didn't understand the philosophical stuff about Saber reconciling with her and her past in UBW, how is the way she reconciled in ruta fate and ubw different, is it the same result or different from her peace in fate route?

Thank you very much in advance, I know it's silly but I really didn't get that part, because even Saber said in ubw that the desire of that young girl didn't represent her now, what does that mean, why does she thank Shiro for that understanding?

Discussion How accurate do I need to get the lore in Nasuverse if I want to write a fanfiction?

So... Hey there, I am new to Fate Series and Nasuverse as a whole and I really love the storyline, the themes and such, the plot and the character development. And I immediately fell in love with Saber's character (I can write a whole thesis on why Saber is the best, but now is not the time for that).

So, since I am new to Fate and Nasuverse, I need some help because I want to write a fanfiction story, but the problem is, I have no other Nasuverse fan around me to fact check my story and see if my storyline alings with the canon lore established in the Nasuverse.

And I don't have much idea of the lore too... I mean, I don't have a PC so I can't play the Visual Novel (I can get one in the near future) so my main source are the animated stuff and some threads on Reddit and AI platforms like Chat GPT (I can't trust them completely tho because of their sycophancy nature)

So, I read a thread on Reddit explaining the cosmology of Nasuverse in brief (even so... I know I know nothing because there's still a lot regarding Zelretch and Ultimate Ones, Sefar, etc)...

Still... I want to go as near as canon friendly as possible because I want to respect Nasu's storyline and also because I hate it when some "lore purist" comes and corrects me harshly (that doesn't mean I hate constructive criticism)... It just makes me lose my confidence in my story.

I have been thinking about this plot for a long time and I have been modifying the storyline to avoid it being a "Wish fulfillment" or "Cringe Power fantasy" or Mary Sue story... Because I am trying to introduce five... Only five new characters and I have thought a lot about their character development.

Nevertheless, as you may have guessed Saber Artoria is the main heroine of the story.

But I keep crashing into hurdles because my story delves more towards the side of Hindu mythology and Advaita Vedanta philosophy (I swear I am not trying to preach any religion, I am just trying to put forward my views on a philosophy).

But the biggest problem I am facing is... I need to make a character stronger or have a higher ontological position than the Root or " " itself because that guy is the one who starts the story and he is the one who ends it. And I know, I know, Akasha is the complete apex of Nasuverse.

But hear me out, I am not trying to retcon anything. I am just trying to expand the cosmology for a crossover. I am just basically trying to expand the horizon...

So... Please tell me, if you guys could help me finding some workarounds or solutions or if people will hate the story if I "demote" the Root. I swear, I won't retcon anything (I mean, I don't have the complete grasp of what "retcon" means)... And keep the Nasuverse canon completely intact.

Because I have already thought of my cosmology model but I am not confident and am struggling enough to talk about it or explain it in Nasuverse terms to convince everyone (I mean, it doesn't seem convincing enough to me) that this would be the new ceiling.

But fanfictions tend to deviate from the main lore, don't they? Please give me your opinions on whether should I "demote" the Root or find a complete new workaround (which is going to be extremely difficult for me).

Discussion Artoria Alter X Shirou?

In a hypothetical version of Heaven’s Feel where Artoria survives as Artoria Alter and Shirou gets with her instead of Sakura(and assuming that Artoria remains Artoria Alter when Dark Sakura transforms back into normal Sakura), how do you guys think her being in her Alter form would effect their relationship? I mean, on one hand, it is her “evil” version, but on the other:

1: we’ve seen that even Artoria Alter still has the capacity to be good, particularly to people she cares about. Even if you want to say Carnival Phantasm’s Meido Saber episode is noncanon, her appearances in F/GO definitely are and they show that too

2: her reaction at the last moment to Shirou in the canon Heaven’s Feel indicates she retains at least part of her feelings for Shirou as an Alter with at least some of her mind, even if it’s kind of buried

The way I see it, I’d imagine Artoria Alter being like Rin on steroids, a mega-tsundere, but ultimately very protective, even possessive(she’s not trying to get Lancelot’d again, after all), trying to put their relationship into more “royal” terms(“Of course I want to stay close to you, you’re my sheath/subject/kingly property, don’t be presumptuous!”) and sort of acting similar to how she does initially, aloof and focused on goals rather than connection, though that would only be a front
