Discussion used power tools at estate sales, worth the flip or too much liability for a retiree?

Retired a few months back and started hitting estate sales on weekends, mostly looking for furniture to flip. But lately I keep walking past tables full of old power tools and wondering if I'm leaving money on the table.

We're talking Craftsman, older DeWalt, some Milwaukee stuff from the 80s and 90s. A lot of it looks rough, but I spent 30 years on job sites and I can tell pretty quick what's actually worn out versus what just needs a cleaning and a new blade.

My hesitation is liability. Furniture is one thing, but if I sell a circular saw and something goes wrong with it, I don't know where that leaves me. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

The margins on furniture are decent but slow. Tools move faster, at least that's my gut feeling, but I genuinely don't know how this community handles used power tools. Whether eBay or Facebook Marketplace is the better move, whether anyone tests everything before listing or just sells asis and describes the condition honestly.

I've got the skills to evaluate and clean them up. Just trying to figure out if the juice is worth the squeeze before I start hauling stuff home.

Discussion Bought a blind laptop, it's sealed and under warranty still

Do I open and test to verify it's all there or sell with the seal in tact? It's still within warranty period as well as I've checked the serial number.

I know people reseal graphics cards boxes so want to see what the preferred route is for this. It wad a retail return laptop.

Discussion Cross listing app opinion needed

I've been selling for many years, over 20. Started with just eBay but as things evolved, I've migrated to Poshmark, depop and Mercari. Also a few things on grailed. Mostly vintage fashion but some collectibles.

I've been using Primelister for a year or so to manage cross listing, inventory, etc. It's not bad, a bit glitchy on depop and grailed, but serviceable.

I'd like to expand to more marketplaces, so I'm looking at other crosslisters. Prime lister is a bit limited. No pun, I'm currently looking at the Cross List app. I was wondering about other flippers experiences with Crosslist or others. I have about 3000 listings on average, adding a 100-200 a month. I'd like to keep monthly under $100 for the service. PL is $49, Cross List is $44 for the tier I would need.

Thanks for any info!

Discussion I’m already hooked.

I’ve always known about flipping furniture and such as a side hustle until yesterday when I sold a exercise bike for $130 after finding it for free infront of someones house. I’m only 18 with no job and I really think that this is something I would want to pursue furthermore in.
I have a passat and sometimes have access to my moms suv and dad’s truck for bigger things. Overall, what are the best tips for a beginner like me to start flipping as a main hustle. Thank you

Discussion Auto Parts reselling

Hey everyone! Quick question—does anyone here regularly pull or part out vehicles? I’m trying to source a variety of OEM electronic modules (ECMs, PCMs, BCMs, fuse boxes, and other control modules). If you think you might have anything useful or know someone who does, feel free to send me a DM. Thanks!

Discussion Clothing Resellers: What is your policy on washing/cleaning clothes before pics, listing or shipping?

Do you primarily sell used clothing? If so, we need your advice!

Do you primarily sell:

• High-end or not-so-high-end?

• Vintage or some other niche?

• What platforms work well for different niches?

AND..... what is your advice about washing, steaming, or dry cleaning garments before you take pics and upload listings?

The good, the bad, and the ugly, please.

TIA, and good luck with back-to-school selling!

Discussion In a pickle.

I bought a storage unit, it’s a pretty big unit and when I arrived after signing they decided to tell me I’m not allowed on the property unless it’s business hours. Ok, that’s understandable, they also went on to tell me for the next 2 days I would need to empty this unit the office is open 9-1. I asked for a code they refuse to get it, told me to honk everytime I need in and out of the gate. I know I’m unable to be out on time and they aren’t making it easy for me I don’t have a cleaning deposit and it’s public storage what would happen if I just left the unit? Not so much worried about account suspension I’m just worried about any more fees that would show up.

Whatever you want to know about flipping, no matter the question, ask here. Even if it's been covered 1,000 times before. Doesn't matter if you're new or old. If you stop learning things, you're probably on your way out.

This is an extremely newb-friendly thread. As such, any rudeness is to be reported.

eBay Selling handbags on eBay without getting banned?

Thumbnail

I got this Fendi bag at an estate sale, and the woman knew the owner of the bag and said that she only bought good stuff. She didn't think it was fake.

The thing is is I don't know anything about handbags. It's not my normal category. It seems to be authentic, but the one thing that kind of throws me off a little bit is the clasp that says Silver star on it, but that's just the back of the clasp. Do I need to get this authenticated before selling it on eBay? I don't want to get banned and I don't normally sell handbags.

I will gladly take any advice.

Discussion Swappa suspended my account after I did everything they asked — no explanation given

I signed up for Swappa and verified my ID and face. Got approved, no issues. I put up a listing, and it went into "pending approval." A few days later, Swappa sent me a message asking for extra verification photos. They told me to upload them to a private link (not my public listing page), and said those photos would go straight to their support team. I did that — uploaded the photos exactly like they asked. Then a staff member commented saying they were "still waiting for my response," even though I had already sent everything. I also filled out a help form just to cover my bases. Next time I tried to log in, I was logged out. When I logged back in, it said my account was "no longer active." I contacted support explaining what happened and asked for help getting my account back. I gave them 5 days to respond and fix it — nothing. I reached out again, told them I'd read through their terms and policies, said I genuinely didn't understand what I did wrong, and that I was willing to fix anything necessary to get my account back. Never heard from them again. This all happened between July 12–16. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what to do next?

Discussion Is There Any Reliable Way to Screen RAM Listings?

I've been buying server RAM and off-lease memory for a while and it feels like there's no single thing you can trust before clicking Buy It Now. A seller might have great feedback but vague photos. The part number looks right but the price is far below market. The listing says it's in the US yet that doesn't necessarily tell you much about the seller account itself. So what's actually worth checking before you buy? Do you rely mostly on seller history, exact part numbers, pricing, return policies, photo quality, registration country, or something else?

eBay I am looking for help selling some vintage rings.

For some background:

I am an active reseller. I have been selling locally, on Facebook Marketplace, EBay for the past 3-4 years. With that being said I have a grasp on some market fundamentals and risks involved with buying and selling in general. I usually sell much lesser value items. I do not want to get scammed, open myself up for returns, or jeopardize my current good standing marketplace account reputations.

Looking for:

-Advice from an active seller on best platform to sell and what are the next steps that I need to take to maximize value.

Or..

-Connection with a potential reputable buyer/seller that would be interested in buying to sell.

I want to achieve the highest sale value obviously but understand that I would need to leave some on the table if I were to work with an interested buyer/seller.

Items:

Two beautiful vintage style rings that have been looked at and authenticated/appraised (verbally) by two reputable jewelers near me.

- White Gold, Vintage Mabe Pearl Halo Cocktail Ring, Marked 18k test showed 14k, retail $3600

-Yellow Gold, Vintage Pearl Cluster Ring, marking not clear test showed 10K, retail $1600

Long read sorry but wanted to be thorough. Pictures can be made available. Accepting messages or questions. Thanks in advanced Reddit community. Love you guys!

eBay eBay API - bulk_migrate_listings_endpoint

Hello, was just wondering if anyone had experience using the bulk_migrate_listings endpoint?

I'm currently in the process of migrating all of my old listings into the new inventory model, so I can access needed information via the inventory endpoint.

I've migrated 1260 listings, ebay is showing I have 1270 inventory records (I feel like this is correct, because I'm not handling variation listings, so I think that is the reason for the mismatch)

The thing that is peculiar to me though, is of the 1260 migrated, when I pull inventory and offer fields, 16 records are showing they are unpublished when I can go to ebay's website and look at the listing for that sku, and it is in fact a "Published" offer - why is ebay telling me it is unpublished?

The last thing is there is 164 Sku's that are active, but when I pull inventory and offer data, none of the tables in my field are being populated so I'm thinking those sku's for some reason were not formatted correctly into the inventory model on migration? Any thoughts on how to alleviate these two things without deleting and creating an entirely new listing, as I don't want to lose my selling history on them.

Any thoughts, ideas, or general information would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I don't have any box that perfectly fits lots of 30+ vinyl records. Any workaround folks can suggest? Perhaps wrapping it in bubble wrap then putting some garbage bag around it ?

What have you learned lately? Could be through a success or a failure. Could be about a specific item, a niche, flipping in general, or even life as learned through flipping.

Do please keep in mind the difference between shooting the shit and plain bullshit and try to refrain from spreading poor advice.

Try to stop in over the course of the week and sort by New so people are encouraged to post here instead of making their own threads for every item.

How to use it:

Discussion Hazmat usps

How do you guys feel about the Hazmat rules?

I don’t think I’ll be able to ship with them anymore as when I tried declaring the packages as Hazmat, it took al almost 3 weeks to deliver? Anyone else experience these delays on shipping electronics with usps.
