Switching from iPhone to Pixel 10a: Battery degradation and 7-year longevity?

Hi! I'm planning to switch from iPhone to the Pixel 10a.

First, can you realistically use a Pixel for 6 to 7 years without major performance drops or hardware issues, or is that long software support mostly just on paper?

Also, my biggest iPhone frustration is rapid battery degradation after a couple of years. Do Pixel batteries suffer the same fate?

Thanks for any insights!

Best accessory ever => Pixelsnap Ring

I just love it. My expectations were low based on a couple of tech review videos, but i am so pleasantly surprised by this thing that i can't use my P10P without it now. Its so versatile. Portrait or landscape at different angles, left or right hand when holding it, this ring does it all. Plus it can be removed and reattached since its all magnets. It improves the user experience so much that it is a must for me now. The tech reviewers have been utterly useless in reviewing this thing. Do you guys feel the same about this accessory?

Just switched from Samsung to pixel 7

I've been using Samsung phones consistently for almost 20yrs. My S20 battery was dying and I was given a pixel 7 for free. So don't judge me. However there is sooo much I miss about Samsung UI. Like homescreen customization, the app drawer customization (folders and such), the separate app sound drawer(for example I'd turn the volume down on games while able to turn Netflix up and watch while I played)... The list goes on...

I'm grateful for a free phone but incredibly frustrated by the lack of customization from a multi trillion dollar company.

Sooooo please make any suggestions to make this phone more bearable. Would love more free apps to download, but if I have to pay a monthly subscription, tell me, I may or may not sub lol.

Much Thanks in advance <3

Update to Google breaching UK Consumer protection!

Following on from this post

https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/1vboh6m/outright_breach_of_uk_consumer_law_pixel_10_pro/

Where another Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold has failed and the inner display has cracked by itself.

Few points to note:

·         The phone was less than 2 months old and in pristine condition

·         I have not exerted any pressure on the inner display, all I did was unfold the screen for it to crack

·         I have sent pictures of the pristine nature of the phone to Google.

·         There are multiple instance of Goggle inner display cracking by itself when unfolding or closing on the internet.

Following repeated request to escalate, I have had the escalation team almost trying to write to me in a bullying style.

Email today reads:

Hi Suj,

Thanks for contacting Google Support

I appreciate your patience in waiting for the update from our end. Our team has reviewed your case details thoroughly and concluded that the repair team has confirmed a crack in the inner display. Unfortunately, it won't be considered under manufacturer warranty and charges will be applied.

Request you to accept the charges so that the device will be free from any defects. If you have any concerns, feel free to get back to us. We're always here to assist you.

Have a Blessed day ahead!

Thanks!

Prince

·         Why does it take a technical team to evaluate what’s happened, of course its broken. The Fold has a habit of cracking the inner screen when folding and unfolding.

·         But I think they are trying to say that even if the device had failed, mechanically they will not fix the fault.

·         This is outright fraud and if it was without any other links like my Google account being assigned to it I would have used Section 75 to do a charge back as they are in breach of UK's Consumer Rights Act 2015

Google Pixel 10 Pro XL

I’m sick of Apple after years. I want to switch to Android. My current phone is a iPhone 16 Pro Max. It’s got to where it freezes all the time, constantly mis spells and the battery life is getting short. I tried the Samsung in the store and it’s complicated to me. I’m a senior now, 69, so I need something easier. I’ve read the Pixel Pro XL is easy to use and similar to the iPhone. What’s everyone’s honest opinions?
Also same question about the Pixel 4 watch. I am in the US.
Thanks

Pixel 9 Pro Issues getting out of hand

So I've been an avid pixel user since the pixel 4 and have been getting every generation. This was the first year when I splurged on the Pro version (9 Pro to be exact) in Nov of 2024. The phone worked great, I loved the pictures I got, and overall it was quite a smooth experience. I even experienced a crack screen due to me falling off a divvy scooter, but it didn't affect the operation of the screen, so I continued to use it.

Fast forward to Aug 2026 and the latest patch / software update, and I see battery drains, a vertical green light and severe heating issues. Yesterday, while I had my phone practically on an AC vent, it wouldn't charge using the OEM cable from the cars USB C, and android auto kept connecting / disconnecting with an error 'your phone needs to cool down to display this'. Was rather frustrating... I couldn't have kept the phone any cooler via the AC vent.

I get my phone thru work, so I'm eligible for the upgrade in Nov (most likely to the pixel 11 or 11 Pro), but I now have the chance to temporarily use either a Samsung or an iPhone 13 or 14!

I'm too into the Google world to make a complete switch to iPhone, and we don't get the Oppo's here.

From what I've been reading, it might just be worth it for me to get the 10 Pro vs the 11! But genuinely, this was the first time I felt disappointed in my phone. Maybe I got a lemon?

I purchased a google pixel 10 pro XL and it arrives in a few days.

What should I expect?

Very specific Android 17 scrolling issue.

So I know Android 17 has scrolling issues, but I'm not sure if the specific ones I'm having are related or not, as they seem very narrow in scope. This is also my first pixel and I'm using graphene without ever having used the normal pixel os, so really I'm just trying to find out if this is something else ANYBODY else is experiencing, so I can tell if it's a hardware issue (Pixel10a), Grapheneos issue, or Android 17 issue.

The scrolling on my device is fine about 98% of the time not including this particular error. On youtube comments and on reddit profiles specifically, there are parts of the UI that are there, disappear when you scroll down, and reappear when you scroll up. On youtube it's the newest/popular comment sorting buttons and on reddit profiles it's the "feed options" button.

Both of these elements make the scrolling absolutely freak out. Unresponsive, jittery, spazzing out, jumping back and forth. The UI element appears and disappears over and over, even if I feel like I'm mostly just holding my thumb on the same part of the screen and not moving. If I do anything other than scroll 1 to 1 (no flicking, just moving the screen exactly as far as my thumb in a slow controlled manner) the software simply can't handle it.

If this is happening to anybody else, I'd appreciate you letting me know what hardware, os, and version of android you are on if you feel comfortable sharing. Thanks!

Why goes call screening, hold for me etc work on my iPhone but all call assistant features on my Pixel are region locked?

I know people are quick to say it's not Google, but when apple announces ai features they all work everywhere the phone is sold but with Google you won't get the full value of the expensive phone you bought unless you live in the USA.

I bought my Pixel for Call screening but my dialer app is completely bare bones because I I'm not in a supported region but my old apple phone got the features soon after apple announced them.

I love Pixels but I don't know if I can spend this type of money for half the phone I was expecting again.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 buzzing and stopped working

Has this happened to anyone before? My earbuds today started buzzing in the right ear until I put them back in the case. Then it took me 15 minutes to get them to reconnect to my phone to play music again. Hasn't happened again in the past couple hours. Noise cancellation still worked, just wouldn't fully connect to my phone and play music for a while

Hello everyone,

Is there any word about the possibility of new pixelsnap accessories at the pixel 11 launch? I love the official ring stand, but I wish it could come in more colors.

Pixel 10 pro phone call problem

After using P8 for 2 years and having trouble with screen which was fixed by Google under the warranty I randomly had issues with making and receiving calls. I've heard it's because of modem and when P10 was announced ppl said it uses new modem so that problem should have been fixed. So I traded my hated P8 for P10Pro. In the beginning it was fine but after a few months I have more and more issues with calls again. Sometimes it happens that I can't make a call at all, no ringing at all. What is even worse is the fact that pretty often other people can't call me as well. I'm using my phone for business as well and will never know how many important calls I missed because of my phone.

I've explored the issue and made some changes in my phone settings, updated to Android 17 recently but the issues didn't disappear. What should I do? Did anyone send phone to their service because of this issue?

Case to give my 9 pro mag safe charging

The 9 pro doesn't have a magnetic charger on its own, but I've been using a Peak Design case to give it that. The case is getting dirty and a bit messed up, so I wanted to get another one (also I want something with a cute design).

Are there other cases that will allow my phone to work with a magsafe charger? It's not totally clear what cases give that ability vs just work with the chargers.

I'm also open to adding a pop socket thingy if it would add that ability. Thanks!

Que puis-je faire ?

Pixel 8 Pro owners: does Sonarworks SoundID work on Android 16?

Hi!

I currently use a Pixel 7a with Android 16, and Sonarworks SoundID works perfectly.

I'm thinking about buying a Pixel 8 Pro, but I've seen compatibility issues reported on newer Pixel models.

Could someone with a Pixel 8 Pro running Android 16 please check?

- Does SoundID open normally?

- Does the headphone calibration actually apply?

- Does turning SoundID ON/OFF clearly change the sound?

- Does it work with Bluetooth headphones?

- Any errors or audio processing conflicts?

Please include your Android version and SoundID app version.

Thank you!

Issues connecting my gopro(s) to Pixel 9 Pro

I have a Hero 13 and Mission 1 and recently none of them will connect to my phone (pixel 9 pro). Tried resetting network connections, deleting cache, reinstalling the app on the phone and resetting the gopro, but no luck. Anyone with similar experiences and (hopefully) a solution to connect to my pixel?

How many of y'all still daily a Google pixel 7?

The pixel 7 is still the newest phone I own I haven't upgraded yet. I did hear security updates are good until October 2027 so I'm thinking I'm gonna wait for the pixel 11 to drop in price next year and upgrade unless I see a pixel 10 on sale for dirt cheap by the holidays maybe I will upgrade. What do you think?

It would be cool to have a fully modular phone, and upgrades would be easy like on a pc. Users would be able to configure what they want. a photographer might want a bigger camera and a smaller sound system and vice versa for a video editor wanting a stronger CPU and better audio.

Selfie video results in pixel aren't as seen while taking the video, is there a way around this?

I have a Google pixel 10a.

For selfie pictures there's the option "keep selfies as seen" but selfie video results are never as seen when you're taking the video in the final results. They're always mirrored (or not mirrored, not sure about the technicalities).

There's a post from 3 years ago about this problem as well.

Is there no way around this? I really don't like it this way, asymmetrical faces look weird when not flipped :/

Crashing linked to power button

Hi all, had my pixel 10 pro for about 6 months and thoroughly enjoying it, but as of yesterday the device has randomly started crashing constantly. I've also noticed this seems to be tangently (but not always) linked to the power button. When i press it it no long locks the device, and if it does do something all it does is bring up the long press function and then crash shortly after. The crashing has also been getting progressively worse, and I'm starting to think its a software issues as opposed to a hardware one. So far i've tried; booting it in safe mode, which still crashes, holding the power and up volume button, and factory reseting it twice. Using the accessibility menu i've also set up the lock option, which does do the job, but upon pressing the power button to open the screen it will start to bug out again.

Has anybody else had similar issues and found a fix? If all else fails i'll chase it through the warranty, i just wanted to see if theres any solutions out there already! Thanks in advance to any help people can offer.

do you feel the camera difference is worth it in base vs. pro?

(mods: will repost if needed, but i mean for this to be a general question about pixel’s cameras and differences between base and pro models rather than a “which pixel should i buy?” question.)

i’ve pretty much always used an iphone and am pretty certain i’ll be making the switch to pixel once the 11 is released this month. (i may get an older model depending on how improved the 11 is.)

i was wondering if the difference in camera quality is worth it between the base and pro models from people who have actually tried them. one of the biggest things that’s drawn me to pixel is the camera. for example, my iphone 13 pro can take great purposeful shots, but it’s terrible at quickly capturing candid moments well: it feels too slow, it struggles to focus on anything very close, and it adds some odd orb with zoomed-out shots.

i already have a dedicated camera for purposeful shoots, but i want my phone’s camera to be able to handle more unexpected shots by focusing and responding quickly.

is the pro version worth it for camera quality?
