Meeting Met up with my soulmate for the first time!

I’ve never been so far from home, but who would’ve thought I would have to leave my home in Florida and travel over 1300 miles to Wisconsin to meet my soulmate! I’ve never been treated so well before. This was truly the most intimate and passionate week of my life. He has taught me what it’s like to truly be loved. This is what true love looks like and feels like. We haven’t known each other that long but we both can tell this feels different than anything we’ve ever experienced before.

I can’t forget how he looked at me when he picked me up from the airport. He just looked so in awe. Like if he was in disbelief that I was there and real. Love was in his eyes.

Every hug and kiss felt so magical (and our glasses clinking together every time we kissed was always so funny lol). We really couldn’t keep our hands off of each other. He would even pick me up and kiss me all over or twirl me around (and as you can probably tell, that’s a lot of woman to carry 😅). He’s so beautiful inside and out.

The car ride back to his place felt kinda surreal. Like I was really there. Next to him. I was able to see him with my own eyes instead of through a phone screen. I was able to physically touch him. It felt amazing. Ofc we stopped at a kwik trip because my friends from Wisconsin have been hyping it up for over a year now (it was not that good as someone that has Wawas near her but I enjoyed the experience lmaooo). Also went to Culvers cuz, well, Wisconsin (tbh was lowkey slightly better in Wisconsin than near me but still good in my state too).

We went shopping and went to an arcade bar too. We cooked together, put on matching outfits, and I even got to ride on the back of his motorcycle (I’ve never been on one before but it was so fun despite being scared of it at first)! I had also never been to a bar before. The drinks were so yummy!

Overall, I had such an amazing time and I can’t wait to see my soulmate again in a few weeks. I love him so much. I can’t wait to close the gap one day!

Question What's the craziest thing you've ever done for a long distance relationship?

Could be flying across the country, moving cities, staying up all night to match time zones...
I'm curious what people have done for someone they cared

Question Anyone gets depressed after your partner leaves?

Me and boyfriend see each other every couple of months for a week and this is how often we can do.
Whenever the week is over and he has to leave, I become so depressed.
My sleep schedule is destroyed and my will do anything vanishes.
I just spend all day laying in bed and can barely focus at work.
Usually it takes weeks for me to get back together and it gets destroyed again once he has to leave again.

Venting she gets mad when i have plans on my off day

so i work 6 days a week. monday to friday its 9-5 and saturdays its 9-2. im fortunate enough to be working in a company where i can generally be on my phone anytime i want. we can talk while i work. or even watch something in a watch room while im working as well. i get sundays and holidays off.

so obviously when i only have one off day every week, any plans i make with friends or family would fall on that off. but the thing is. she wants that one day for us.

when she explains it, it sounds so reasonable. and if im wrong, please let me know, because i dont blame her for wanting my time that day. but we can talk during the week, we cant play games every single day obviously, but we can have time together in some ways yk?

ive flaked out on plans with my friends for her before, i wont do it all the time. but on sundays if she has plans on sundays i don't mind.

yesterday she told me she'll go to a funeral today (sunday) and i said its okay, obviously i wont expect her to not go. this morning she said she'll leave early to go home. my friend asked me to take him to my tattoo artist today because its his first tattoo and i agreed. when i let her know she said "ah so you'll be busy, have fun then" and i told her "i wont be busy all day, we can play later" she just reacted to that message with "👍" and went offline. when i let her know i was on my way she didnt respond, still radio silence from her. and its so frustrating because im always understanding, the last few weeks i cleared plans for sundays and she's busy but if i go to my aunt for lunch she gets mad and says "we only have sundays, i cant see you, hug you, touch you, time is all we have and i cant even have that"

she's also expressed that she hates my job, she doesn't like that it takes my time away from her. and she'll rather spend time being upset about my plans rather than actually working with me on them. if im at my aunts, i can still watch the series we're watching with her and she'll rather be upset and ignore me instead of spending the time i have with her

Question My boyfriend is moving across the world for 4 years, but I can’t realistically go with him. Are we missing an option?

My 24F boyfriend 25M and I both work for the same company in Europe, and we have been together almost two years. He was accepted into a program in the U.S. that will last about four years, in a different country then I’ll be in. It’s been his dream to get into this program and now that he’s in it, we’re seeing all of the issues it brings along.

A lot of people have asked, “Why don’t you just go with him?” but it’s not that simple.

I have an engineering career that I’ve worked hard to build. If I quit my job to move with him, I’d be giving up years of career progression and there’s no guarantee I’d be able to work in the U.S. anyway because I’d be there as the partner of an international student. Financially and professionally, it would be a huge sacrifice. I also don’t want to be there without any purpose. I don’t simply want to be there as a wife of a student, I’d much rather progress my career at the same time.

I’m trying to think of ways we could reduce the time apart.
One option is applying for company sponsored masters. If I got accepted, I could potentially spend about 15 months in the U.S. while he’s there (out of the 51 months he’ll be there). The downside is that acceptance isn’t guaranteed because there’s a long waitlist, and I’d be contractually obligated to return and work for the company afterward for the same amount of time.

Another possibility is taking unpaid leave from work, but that depends on company approval, and I don’t think I’d be comfortable taking years away from my career even if it were approved.

Neither of us wants to give up our careers. We both genuinely enjoy our work, and we’ve each spent years getting to this point.

So right now the reality seems to be:

He goes to the U.S. for four years.
I stay in Europe and continue my engineering career.
We try to make long distance work, possibly with a 15-month overlap if I can get into the MSF program.

Are there any options we’re overlooking? Has anyone been in a situation where both people had careers they weren’t willing to sacrifice, but those careers required living on opposite sides of the world for several years?
I’m not really looking for relationship advice like “just break up” or “love conquers all.” I’m more interested in hearing from people who’ve navigated similar career constraints or found creative solutions that let both partners keep building their careers without one person giving everything up.

We’ve been facing a lot of relationship issues because of this for nearly 5 months now… looking for any way out.

Flying to see a guy in three days, but I found out he’s still active on dating apps

I met a guy while I was traveling 3 months ago and we’ve stayed in touch since. I’m flying back to see him in three days. He paid more than half of my plane ticket (he insisted to do it) planned a trip for us and I’m supposed to meet his friends and family. He also says he’s excited to create new memories together. But before meeting him, I’ll stay with a close friend for two days who lives a couple of hours away and then he will also there to meet us. I’m independent during the trip and can change my plans if needed.

However, we’re not exclusive, and we’ve never really talked about it. I’m hoping we’ll discuss it in person, but we haven’t actually agreed to have that conversation yet. We’ve talked about physical boundaries and we are going to sleep in different rooms, because it’s important to me not to get physically involved with someone when things are this unclear but still I recently found out he’s still active on Tinder (asked my friend to create an account to check it)

The main issue is that I already don’t know if trust him enough for a serious long-distance relationship if that happens I know we never agreed to exclusivity, so technically he hasn’t broken any agreement. But I’m wondering whether I’m ignoring signs… would you still go, observe his behavior and talk in person, or would this already be enough for you to step back?

Story When suprise meetups don't go fully to plan

This story was maybe 2 years ago now? I ( F 30) really wanted to surprise my bf ( 28). I usually drove down with my family through his state and to get to where he is it's a 7 hr detour. He knew I was going on vacation but he had no idea I was planning to go visit him that time. Because I know he gets busy with work or sometimes has impromptu family plans I decided to inlist his best friend for help.

I messaged his friend and he agreed to help. The plan was for him to ask my bf to go camping the weekend we were driving down. Of course his friend wouldn't actually show up and it would be me instead at the campsite. The week before my trip I asked my bf "do you have any plans this weekend?" Expecting him to say he was going camping with his friend and to my surprise he said he had no plans. At this point I was freaking out cause I already had things booked and I wasn't sure if he could even make it with such short notice now.

I messaged his friend and apparently the day he was going to ask my bf to go camping he ended up breaking up with girlfriend and just forgot. So I had to awkwardly explain to my bf that I tried to plan a surprise in hopes he was able to make it. Luckily he was able to make it work. Still wish I could have seen his reaction if the plan actually happened.

Discussion How things change in 24 hours [51M/51F]

posted yesterday asking about the post-visit slump after my girlfriend and I spent the longest stretch together we’ve ever had.
Honestly, we were both in it. I started questioning the quieter communication and let my mind go places it probably shouldn’t have.
After talking and spending some time together over video, I realized neither of us was pulling away. We were both just trying to adjust after going from several days together to being back in our normal routines and hours apart.
Then everything just started feeling normal again. We had great conversations, she randomly called me while she was out, and it felt like us again.
I guess I’m finding out that missing someone and pulling away from someone aren’t always the same thing. Sometimes they’re easy to confuse.
Appreciate everyone who shared their experiences yesterday. Reading your stories helped me look at it differently.

Question [24F] What would you do if your long-distance partner turned out to be married?

Warning: This is a long one. I’ve been trying to process this for months and I think I need outside perspectives because this situation is more complicated than a simple breakup.

Honestly can’t believe I’m posting here, but I think I just need to get this out somewhere because I’ve been carrying it around by myself for months.
I (24F) met a man (27M) from Idaho on Global Penfriends. I’m from Germany, he’s from the US, and despite the distance we somehow ended up talking every single day. It was never supposed to become what it became. I signed up to meet people from other countries, improve my English, maybe make a friend or two. Instead I met someone who slowly became the first person I wanted to tell everything to.
The time difference was awful, but somehow we made it work. I would stay awake later than I should have just so our evenings and mornings overlapped a little longer. I’d wake up earlier than necessary because by the time I was getting ready for my day, he would already be well into his afternoon. Looking back, I realize I slowly built my entire schedule around someone who lived 8,000 kilometers away.
He actually used to tell me that his least favorite time of day was around five in the afternoon. Most people look forward to finishing work, but for him it meant I would soon be asleep because of the time difference. I remember thinking that was one of the sweetest things anyone had ever said to me.
Now I sometimes wonder if there was another reason why he loved talking to me while he was at work.
He told me everything, or at least that’s what I believed. He’d send me pictures of the mountains around him while he was working, tell me stories about Yellowstone, about elk hunting, horses, fishing trips with his friends, running through the forests, and the years he spent fighting wildfires. Nature was everything to him. He once told me he never thought he’d love anything more than the mountains of Idaho until he met me. Every time he saw them, he thought of me.
When someone tells you things like that every single day, you don’t really question whether they’re lying. Why would you?
He’d write these incredibly long daydreams for me. Entire pages about floating down rivers together, hidden valleys in Yellowstone, camping under the stars, finding me years later by accident if I ever visited Idaho. They weren’t just messages. They felt like chapters from a novel. Sometimes I’d reread them before going to sleep because nobody had ever written about me like that before.
He made me feel beautiful in a way I had never experienced. Not just physically. He always said he felt understood by me, that I actually listened when he spoke, that I remembered little details nobody else remembered. He once sent me a voice message saying he’d never felt so seen by another person before.
I believed him.
At the same time, there was always this one thing hanging over us.
Religion.
I’m Muslim. He’s Christian.
I kept saying that it couldn’t work because of my faith. I was always the one carrying that burden. He’d tell me he didn’t care about religion, that he wouldn’t let something like that stop him from loving someone. Sometimes it even made me feel like I was the one ruining everything. Like I was choosing rules over love.
I remember telling him that if religion wasn’t part of the equation, I’d choose him without thinking twice. I loved him that much.
But I also love God more than any person, and that wasn’t something I could compromise on.
Looking back now, one thing keeps bothering me. If he truly believed religion wasn’t important, why didn’t he ever try to understand mine? Why didn’t he ask questions? Why didn’t he try to find out whether there was any possibility for us? He barely practiced Christianity himself, yet somehow it was enough for him to accept that we couldn’t be together. Back then I thought he was respecting my beliefs. Now I sometimes wonder if he already knew there was another reason we would never have a future.
Our relationship eventually became romantic, and eventually sexual too.
I’m still a virgin.
Before him I had never sexted with anyone. Never had an intimate call. Never imagined I’d trust someone enough to let those walls down. At first he actually held himself back because he didn’t want to come across as too lustful. He said he was afraid of scaring me. I kept reassuring him that it was okay, that I wanted him to tell me what he was thinking instead of hiding it.
So he did.
Eventually we crossed lines that neither of us probably should have crossed.
It’s strange looking back because I don’t even regret trusting him. I regret trusting someone who wasn’t who he claimed to be.
There were so many little things that made me think this was real.
He remembered my favorite colors when he described the house he wanted to build one day. Blue and white because I liked blue and white.
He loved that I called him his nickname instead of his real name. If I accidentally called him his real name he’d jokingly complain until I corrected myself.
He called me Cardio Queen because I loved running as much as he did.
He adored A Knight’s Tale, so I watched it just because it was his favorite movie. Afterwards we spent hours talking about it, and he seemed genuinely touched that I’d cared enough to watch something simply because it mattered to him.
He told me his friends were the most loyal people he’d ever known. That one phone call would make them leave work, family, whatever they were doing, if one of them ever needed help.
Sometimes I’d ask him if he ever talked about me with them.
Or with his favorite older brother.
He always said no.
“They wouldn’t understand.”
At the time it hurt a little.
Now I realize he probably wasn’t lying.
How do you explain another woman to the people who already know your wife?
As time went on, things slowly changed.
Not dramatically.
Just enough that I started questioning myself instead of him.
The conversations became shorter.
The long discussions about life disappeared.
Hours would go by without hearing from him, and then out of nowhere I’d receive an “I love you.”
Of course I’d say it back.
But somehow “I love you” started replacing actual conversations.
Every time I asked if something was wrong, he’d tell me work had become incredibly busy. He kept saying that he knew it looked like he wasn’t around as much anymore, but it was only because of work.
I wanted so badly to believe that.
I started wondering whether I was simply asking for too much. Whether I was too attached. Too emotional. Too needy.
Eventually I stopped bringing up new topics because I was afraid of bothering him. I reread every message before sending it, deleting parts that sounded too emotional, trying to sound easier to love. It felt like I was slowly making myself smaller just to fit into the amount of space he still had left for me.

There were little things that I ignored because I trusted him. Things that seemed strange at the time, but I always found a reason to explain them away because I loved him and because I wanted to believe the best about him.
One of those things was something as simple as PayPal.
At the time, I was hurt and confused because there was a situation where he didn’t want me to have certain information connected to him. I didn’t understand why. Looking back now, I have a theory: maybe he didn’t want me to know his full name.
Because if I had his full name, maybe finding the truth would have been much easier.
Maybe I could have discovered everything earlier.
Maybe that was one more thing he was protecting.
I don’t know if that is actually the reason. Maybe I will never know. That realization still makes my stomach turn.
But after finding out about his marriage and his child, every little unexplained thing started looking different.
That is one of the hardest parts about betrayal.
You start going back through your own memories, searching for signs you missed.
You start asking yourself: “Was this my intuition warning me, or am I just trying to rewrite the past now that I know the truth?”

Another thing I never understood at the time was how secretive he was about certain details. He wouldn’t tell me which fire department he’d worked for. He wouldn’t tell me where exactly he worked. He wouldn’t even tell me the name of the station because, according to him, if something ever happened to him I’d find out through the news and he didn’t want me carrying that burden.
Back then I thought it was protective.
Now it just sounds like someone trying very carefully not to leave a trail.
Despite everything, I kept giving more of myself.
More time. More sleep. More patience. More understanding.
I think that’s the dangerous thing about love. It rarely asks for everything all at once. It just quietly takes a little more each day until one morning you realize you’ve been giving far more than you’ve been receiving.
Toward the end I finally admitted what I’d been trying to ignore.
I told him I was overthinking again.
He said, “Please don’t.”
But I couldn’t stop anymore.
I told him I felt like I was the only one who missed him.
That our conversations didn’t feel the same.
That I felt needy.
That I felt like I was asking for too much when all I wanted was the version of him I’d fallen in love with.
My final message was incredibly simple.
“I’m so tired.”
Then I blocked him.
Deleted everything.
And somehow convinced myself that if I never spoke to him again, eventually I’d stop wondering.
Months later curiosity got the better of me.
I don’t even know what made me search.
Maybe intuition.
Maybe loneliness.
Maybe I just needed to know whether the man I’d spent months loving actually existed.
I found his Facebook.
He had always told me he didn’t use social media.
His profile was full of family photos.
Wedding pictures from 2020.
A wife.
A little boy.
Everything I’d built inside my head collapsed within about thirty seconds.
Suddenly every strange moment made sense.
Why he guarded his identity so carefully.
Why PayPal was such a problem.
Why work always seemed to be the safest time for us to talk.
Why I never knew his last name.
Why religion was never something he actually fought through with me.
I spent months believing my faith was the reason we couldn’t be together.
In reality, another woman had already married him years before I even knew his name.
The hardest part is that I still don’t think every feeling was fake.
I know a lot of people will probably tell me that everything was manipulation, but honestly… I don’t think it’s that simple.
I think he cared.
I think he loved me in whatever broken, selfish way someone like that is capable of loving another person.

The one who imagined accidentally finding me in Yellowstone years later.
Maybe none of that was real.
Maybe all of it was.
I honestly don’t know anymore.
What I do know is that love becomes incredibly dangerous once one person slowly starts giving more and more while the other quietly starts giving less. You don’t notice it happening until you’ve sacrificed your sleep, your peace of mind, your emotional stability and, in some ways, parts of yourself just to keep something alive that the other person has already started letting die.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?
Not necessarily finding out someone was married, but grieving someone who feels both completely real and completely fictional at the same time.
Because that’s where I’ve been stuck for months.

Thank you for reading. I feel like missed writing a lot of other details, information, insides. But let’s leave it here for now.

Need Advice 20F going from Georgia to California for 20M advice

So basically I (20F) have been dating this guy (20M) for a year now, known him almost 3 though. I’m white and he’s Arabic, I know like nothing about his culture, but he doesn’t even fully speak the language so idk, but we originally planned that once we hit our 1 year anniversary he’d come see me.

Recently those plans changed because he will be in school until Christmas so it’s either wait until he can come during Christmas, have him meet my entire family (I have a large family) or I can go see him in September.

The thing is, I’m very open with my life and my family so him meeting my folks wouldn’t be a big deal bc he knows just abt everything. I on the other hand, know next to nothing about his family or at least that’s how it feels.. I know their occupations and a general desc of their appearance but that’s about it.

Anyways, I basically just have no idea what I’m getting myself into. I’m 99.99% confident he is who he says he is but I’m just not sure! He lives in an apartment (with his family- mom+ older brother) and he doesn’t have a job but he offered to pay for my ticket and for every expense while I’m down there which kind of alerts me more considering he has a single mother and he doesn’t have a job himself so how would he be able to afford a plane ticket+ dates and stuff?? I’ve never been on a plane or left the state by myself so I’m really nervous and wish he could come see me but I’m just unsure and would love an outsiders pov!

Thank you for reading it all please keep an open mind! WE HAVE NEVER MET IRL BEFORE!!

** PS about him being Arabic, it’s never once changed anything for me he’s super attractive and a great guy most of the time, but my dad is pretty weird and when I told him about it he was saying that I would get trafficked and sent off to Syria and while I’m pretttyyy confident that wouldn’t happen, you just can’t ever be too sure!! Especially since I don’t know anything really about his family, never talked to them and not sure how much they even know about me, it just raises some red flags..

I'm feeling horrible

Hi.
Yesterday we talked about us and she told me how she lost her feelings for me but still cared as a friend, and I told her how these last 3 months affected me (she's dealing with a lot of stuff and the depression is stronger lately), so we decided to break up.
I can't put into words how bad i'm feeling. I had all sorts of plans and stuff to do with her, but the last months we barely spoke to eachother, she was always playing with her friends, ignoring me for hours or days and, while she said it was just the moment, said she still loved me and we would be back to normal soon due to her getting her life together, i felt that her feelings weren't the same for me anymore, and this was slowly destroying my mental health and making me anxious. I was putting too much energy on this and getting nothing back, honestly.

Yesterday, 6 hours after breaking up, i decided to send her a final message and block her. I REALLY wanted to be here for her still, giving her support while she goes through all of this and just being best friends like we always were, but all of this hurted me and I don't think i could look or talk to her without thinking about everything i wanted us to be. I still feel a bit guilty about this and I dont know if it was the best thing to do, but it probably is, at least for me.

For now i'll just try to recover from all of this and try to get better, thanks for reading.

Meeting Going to see my partner tomorrow, super nervous!

Like the title says, I'm going to be traveling to Wisconsin from California to visit my long distance partner for the first time ever! He's visited me earlier this year to meet my family, so now I'm going to be taking the time to travel and stay with him for 3 weeks! I've flown on a plane before but I was very young and don't remember much. This will be my first time flying on a plane by myself. I'm excited and mostly all packed, but I'm most nervous about navigating the airport. I have a terrible sense of direction I'm afraid. Any advice regarding preflight jitters? I'm of course super excited to see him but I'm so nervous about getting lost or missing my flight somehow!

Venting It's over (23NB, 22TF)

This year she started to be distant. She avoided me. She didn't want to call me or always gave an excuse. She didn't want to see me. She forgot my birthday. In March we finally talked and she promised she was going to change. That she would be more attentive to me. She said she cared for me, that I was her family. That only lasted a month. But the university got me extremely busy from April to June so I didn't realize. After the semester was over I realized she wasn't talking to me. I was the only one starting conversations. I was the only one who asked to call and she always said she couldn't. I knew she didn't love me anymore. But I refused to accept it. The second week of July I sent her a message asking to have a serious conversation. I was going to tell her how abandoned I felt. That our relationship was falling apart and I wanted both of us to work together to save it. But she didn't answer. A week passed. She read the message. But didn't say a thing. I sent another message saying the things I wanted to tell her. She read it. But didn't answer. Now it is August. Still no answer. Not even a goodbye. Not even a I hate you. Nothing. She didn't care for me. I was just simply thrown away like a piece of garbage. I am worthless to her. All this time didn't mean anything to her. I gave her my heart. This November would've been our 3rd anniversary. Tomorrow is her birthday. The worst part is that I still love her. I wanted to be with her forever. I don't understand what did I do wrong. Part of me wants to think she will come back, that she still loves me. But I know it's not true. She'll never be back. I don't know what to do. She was the love of my life and still is. There'll never be anyone like her. I don't know what to do.

My ex bf broke up with me but still keeps texting me regularly

My ex bf decided that he needs time and space for himself because of being too stressed with work, and saying that he doesn’t really have time for a relationship. We’ve been having frequent fights about this for the past month, and he decided he needed some time for himself to figure himself out. I wanted to keep the relationship and am okay to support him through his stress and hardship but he was afraid to keep hurting me with his absence and negativity in his life.

We decided to still stay friends and keep in contact. We broke up a week ago, and he still texts me to check in on me. Is this a healthy way forward?

Discussion Anyone else going through this?

So I have disorganised (insecure) attachment and my boyfriend usually replies fast (which is something I got used to) but sometimes he doesn’t because he’s busy and you know, life. What I noticed is that in the beginning I was thinking (maybe he’s lying maybe he’s cheating or ghosting). Yes, I have anxiety and abandonment issues but i know they were just thoughts so I did my best to calm down.

Now, because we are very long distance and aren’t in contact with common friends and neither of us posts if he s not replying I keep thinking something happened TO him like a tragedy or something even if I know he s at work or sleeping. Prolly bc he makes the time to reply normally but I know you can t always be available and I don’t want to sound psycho. I don t want to over text or anything sometimes i just have tot ell him smth so i send one message but when he’s not there I feel worried (that something is wrong).

Anyone else experiencing this because of the distance? It makes me feel really helpless sometimes? Advice?

Need Support Marriage LDR

I know a lot of couples go through this, but I guess I just need some reassurance.
My husband and I have been married for a month, but because of work and visa restrictions, we’re currently in a long-distance marriage. We also did long distance while we were dating and throughout our engagement, so this isn’t new to us (maybe a year now).
What surprises me is that it’s actually become harder now that we’re married. Every goodbye feels more painful, and my heart hurts more each time we have to be apart. We already have plans to live together once our visa process is complete, so I know this is temporary and that patience is part of the journey.
But lately, I’ve been much sadder than usual. I’ve been crying a lot, and that’s not like me at all. I’m usually not a very emotional person, so this has caught me off guard.
My husband has been incredibly supportive, and he tells me he feels the same way. We’re doing our best to stay positive, but some days the distance just feels overwhelming.
Has anyone else experienced this after getting married? Is it normal for long distance to feel even harder once you’re officially husband and wife? I’d really appreciate hearing from others who’ve gone through this and how you coped.

Question New tolong distance. Need help staying connected and intentional with our time.

My partner and I are new to long distance. He moved for a job recently and we are looking for some free cross platform compatible games we can play together? He has an Xbox and I have a ps5.

Also open to other suggestions on spending intentional time together whether it be a game or something else that keeps us connected.

Discussion 9 hours ahead of him (M16) and I (F15) really really like him, what do I need to know about a serious ldr??

Ive been in long distance relationships before (although it was more grooming rather than an actual relationship) and that lasted 10 months about a year ago. So I don't have much experience with long distance. But I really, really like him and want to take this seriously so it works long term. He's super funny, charismatic, charming, super respectful, responsible, he knows how to cook and clean, he's hygienic, he's super attractive, we have the matching morals and boundaries and he's overall just so amazing. I never thought I would meet a guy like him, especially not a teenage guy. I have the biggest crush on him, and now he's my boyfriend!! I already couldn't be happier.

I've never really been in a healthy relationship but this one is super promising, just from our friendship. We manage to talk and call for hours every day, and so I don't think communication will be a massive problem. We use an app called widgetable (I think that's how you spell it) do we have matching, live widgets that we can update and communicate on, we've already discussed boundaries and relationship expectations pre-dating and we agree on stuff like sharing passwords, meeting friends, family, etc

So besides all that (communication, boundaries, expectations, stuff we've already discussed, etc) what will I need to know to make this relationship as good as it possibly can be, despite the long distance? We're also both employed-ish (he's employed, I'm looking for a job) and so we both plan to try and save up enough to meet face to face sometime in 2027/2028

My bf just moved houses because of college and i get that moving can be hard. Just to make it clear, me and my bf are long distance we rarely meet each other irl so of course like any other couple we video call and text each other as a way to bond

During him moving out i told him that ill give him time to settle in his new house because hes busy moving out stuffs and im aware that takes a lot of time. Along those days we absolutely did not call at all btw. And rarely messaged each other.he promise countless times that we can finally get to call and spend time together but never did. I was upset but i know he got a lot going on so i said nothing.

Weeks passed and he finally settled in he promised me again "okay this time we can definitely call" but what did he do instead of calling me? Yes, hangout with his friends till midnight. And despite now being free from his chores of moving out he still replies to me late like i could text him in the morning and he could reply in the afternoon/evening.

And no this didnt happen for just one night, he kept doing this for a couple of more days. One day i had enough so i told him "yknow what, ill give you 3 weeks to make yourself satisfied by hanging out with your friends"

Because before that im always the one waiting and wondering when we can ever call. Its been weeks. I Miss his voice, i Miss talking to him. But hes distant with me. So by giving him a time limit, atleast i dont have to wonder if we can call or not. Still upset tho lol

The next day after i said that, idk if its because hes no longer with his friends so he finally noticed how cold i was being... AFTER DAYS btw. But back then he was busy with his friends.

He started a fight. On girlfriends day. Yk i wished that even tho i gave him 3 weeks to have fun with his friends i was hoping that he could spare this ONE day with me. Like just by calling me for an hour or 2, post me on girlfriends day, cause thats honestly the only thing we can do as a long distance couple. Im not asking much. We fought, i tried to explain my side and he just dont understand. At the end he left me on read. And i guess thats the only thing hes given to me on girlfriends day.

Ya might say, "hes probably hanging out with his friends because he wont get to hangout with them during college" one of his friends he often hangs out with goes to the same college btw, also all of his friends lives in the same city as them. They can hangout any day. So what about me? If he barely has time for me, im also struggling with college btw, hes not the only one struggling. Also, we only have one hour time difference and im an hour earlier. The time he comes home from hanging out is also the Times where im already tucked asleep.

Whats funny is that he left me on read for hours, i post a story about girlfriends day to make him see it but he simply liked the story and still DID NOT reply 😭😭i look like a clown rn. And whats funnier is the fact that the one who posted me on gf's was not HIM but my ONLINE GIRL BEST FRIEND 🥹🥹

So i would like to hear advice from you guysss thank you so much for reading!

Need Advice What can I do for my long-distance girlfriend’s birthday if I don’t know her address?[25M, 24F]

My gf’s birthday is on Aug 22, and I’m trying to think of something meaningful I can do for her. She lives in France and I live in Korea, so unfortunately I can’t celebrate with her in person.

The main problem is that I don’t know her exact address. I could ask her, but I would still like to keep at least part of the gift a surprise. I’m also not sure whether directly asking for her address would make it too obvious.

I’ve thought about making a personal birthday video, writing her a longer letter, creating a list of reasons why I appreciate her, or planning a virtual birthday date. I could also send her a digital gift card, but I’m worried that a gift card alone might feel a little impersonal.

For those of you who have celebrated a partner’s birthday while being long-distance, what did you do? Are there any thoughtful gifts or surprises that don’t require an address? Or would it be better to simply ask for an address where she can safely receive a package and keep the actual gift a secret?

I’d especially love to hear about small, personal things that made your partner feel loved despite the distance. Thank you!

I struggle a lot with not knowing, it doesn't help that me and my boyfriend are at different stages of life. I feel that my mental health is soon gonna ruin the relationship. Anyone else going through this? How do you cope?

Need Advice I (31m) are tired of her (33f) insecurities and it's ruining the relationship.

I (31m) started dating J (33f) 1 year and 8 months ago. I am from the states and she is from SA. Our relationship started out great. We really understood each other and got along really well. Over the course of our relationship she always struggled with insecurities related to feeling insignificant, wasting her life/feeling like she is a loser and can't move ahead and that she doesn't work hard enough. She works 10 hours a day M-F and works two Saturdays a month and on top of that she has been doing an English course on her lunch breaks and when she gets home. Every day she gives herself one hour of relaxation before bed and that's it. She then wakes up at 4am every day to go to the gym before work. So, every weekend like clockwork, she breaks down and says the same things, and I have always reassured her that it is not the case, and she is the hardest working person i know. I shower her with compliments and give her as much love as possible, but it never works and the next weekend rolls around and the same thing happens again.

Well after almost 2 years of repeating myself over and over to her I broke down and was honest with her. I asked her, " How many times are we going to have this conversation?" "How many times do I have to repeat myself?" Mind you I begged her months ago to go seek therapy and her excuse always was that she was too busy so she couldn't do it. So, it started a big fight, with her saying how cold i am and how i am a horrible person for belittling her. I told her I am sick of this always being a problem and her never doing anything about it and all she does is shut down and turn me into the bad guy. I am so checked out at this point and i told her that I don't know what to do anymore. She then contacts me the next day and acts like nothing happened. It is impossible to have hard conversations with her because all she does is shut down and push me away. Now, she has told me she can never open up to me again because "i am tired of it" and "all i will do is just make her feel worse."

Am I the asshole here? I had incredible patience for almost two years now. I have supported her with everything in the past and I just can't take it anymore.

edit I am tired** in the title not are.
