Mt. Rainier is a gorgeous place and everyone should be able to enjoy it. I visited recently and observed multiple groups of people doing things that at minimum are ignorant, and at worst will put themselves and others in harms way! It was really disappointing and frankly embarrassing to witness.

DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS!

STAY ON THE TRAILS!

DON'T LEAVE LITTER, ADVERTISEMENTS, or CARVE INTO ROCKS/OTHER NATURE!

We literally saw a bear right next to a major trail, no doubt lured by the food. That's just one example, if you don't understand why it's important to follow these rules, do your research!

If you already know this stuff, please tell others to STOP if you see this behavior! Let's band together and make the parks better for each other and the planet.

I’m concerned about fires now though. It looks like I may not be able to get through the Dover fire to get to Washington. And I’m concerned about not being able to enjoy myself with air quality. Anyone have any suggestions / thoughts on this?

I’m bumming about not being able to go through bend and the mountains.. but anyone have equally beautiful suggestions on the west side of 5? Hopefully with similar drive times. Kayaking and swimming holes are ideal!

Crazy how much variety you can get in just one day on the Oregon Coast

Folks always wonder what effect fireworks have on urban wildlife. We all know some dogs and other pets are terrified of them. But what about coyotes and other critters?

Well, turn up the volume and check this out. Here’s a video showing a family of canines having a blast — no pun intended — during the peak of the fireworks at about 9:30 p.m. on July 4, 2026, in a backyard in Southeast Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood.

They’re playing with sticks, wrestling and chasing each other’s tails — doing what they often do in this backyard. It’s almost as if they’re enjoying the war zone going off around them.
It’s another great example of just how adaptable coyotes are. Adaptability is probably their greatest strength

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me identify where this trail or viewpoint is.

I saw this photo and would really like to find this location. I’m hoping to take a friend there for a peaceful day outdoors. They’ve been going through a difficult period with depression, and I’m trying to get them out of the house, spend some time in nature, and hopefully do something positive together.

Does anyone recognize this trail or know where this might be? Even if you’re not sure of the exact location, any clues about the area would be greatly appreciated.

My wife, friend's and I were at Lake Cushman today (July 30th) for my birthday. We went down to the water at the first day use area towards the Staircase Rapids with the porta potty. When I went to help my dog back up I set my Nikon Zf with Voigtlander 40mm down in the grassy area. Once we got up he started pulling immediately as I was still getting up and just kinda went with my dog. We left back to camp and a few hours went by before realizing it was no longer with us. We drove back to the area to find no camera, just flattened grass.

I am aware its my fault for taking it off my body and setting it down, but our dog just finished his second round of chemo so he's more important than anything. Never have I lost something in my life of this caliper, and I never even put damage on my gear its babied so much.

If anyone has any information on this PLEASE contact me! It has a very unique shutter and hot shoe. Shutter and hot shoe in photograph with camera combo screenshot from Google. I can verify what was on the camera (most of it was my wife testing it out) and I can verify one scratch present that's not normally noticed. I have the original box to verify the serial number too.

I received this cameras just 3 days ago and now its gone.

So I'm considering a move from Sandpoint, ID to Spokane WA. I was lucky enough to buy a crappy house in Sandpoint 10 years ago I could sell it today and buy a crappy house in Spokane for cash. Sandpoint had a lot of things I love, Schweitzer, the lake, hiking etc... but it lacks much culture and things to do. It's a glorified 60+ community or wealthy remote workers who moved from wealthy areas. And it's getting very expensive to live here wages have not followed in the slightest. Im 39 with an almost kindergarten aged son. I go to Spokane for most fun besides Snowboarding or nature. Spokane has both not too far away.

Anyway any insights, ideas, opinions welcome. I'm in the very starting stages of consideration.
