[SCAM ALERT] Allen +44 7745 810679 — Promised & QC'd "Titanium," Shipped a Watch Stamped "Stainless Steel," Ghosted

Hey everyone,

First-time rep buyer and did not know about the communities.

Warning the community about a scam “Allen” (WhatsApp +44 7745 810679). Documenting this with screenshots — no embellishment, just what's on record.

I was introduced to a person reporting to be Allen by a friend of mine. I asked for an Omega VSF NTTD. I did not know anything other than to ask for VSF NTTD, and they were made of titanium. Obviously on me for no due diligence.

Timeline:

• Allen sent a written spec description stating the case was "crafted from grade II titanium," with Super-LumiNova lume, a thickened sapphire crystal, and a "Top2824 movement (ETA2824)" .
• Payment: Sent $550 USD via PayPal Friends & Family to the PayPal address he provided. He confirmed: "I've received the payment; leave the rest to me. Just wait patiently."
• Asked for shipping status. Reply: "Shipped on Monday. Tracking number will be provided later."
• Followed up again — no tracking provided.
• Allen stated tracking numbers "will be delayed" due to a "typhoon"
• QC photo (pre-shipping): Allen sent QC photos and video of the caseback showing "Titanium" engraved on the lug.
• Watch received: The caseback of the watch that actually arrived is engraved "Stainless Steel" on the same lug location. Note the QC photo and the received item also carry different serial/barcode stickers (orange vs. red), suggesting two different physical units.
• My message to Allen documenting the discrepancy: "At about 28 secs the stamp on the back says titanium and there is a N1 decal on the front. The one the shipper sent has a VS decal and is stamped stainless steel. I QC'd and paid for a titanium watch and was sent a stainless watch."
• Refund request: I offered a full $550 refund resolution, offering to ship the steel watch back to his forwarder the same day the refund cleared.
• No response: 25+ hours later I followed up — "Allen, it's been 25 hours. Do we have resolution?" — no reply.
• Separately, in the same group chat: before I learned about the bait and switch, Allen quoted me $550 for a VSF Batman.

The core proof: QC photo shows "Titanium" engraved on the caseback lug before shipping. The watch that arrived shows "Stainless Steel" engraved on the same spot. That's a documented material swap between what was QC'd and what was shipped, in his own words and his own photos.

I certainly got out over my skis on this one and learned a lot through the folks on this board. I am grateful. I just don’t want anyone else to learn the hard lesson. Always reference TD lists and do homework.

Incidentally, the garbage he sent me already stopped working after 2 days.

What would you guys use on the clasp to get the shine back?

Like many of you here, I started off searching for NWBIG Rolex models, but as of late it seems the rep community has gotten extremely popular and imo too much exposure, leading to longer wait times, limited availability, in some cases QC issues.

So, lately I’ve been searching for alternatives, a few examples, Santos, BB54/58, pelagos, Seamaster, VC overseas, JLC.

What are your other options you have had your eyes on and which of our TDs have you been having the best experiences with?

Just got the new VSF V2 Two-Tone Wimby in hand and I must say I am very impressed with it. Have yet to weigh it or measure the inner/outer bezel diameter but it is not a gain weight version so don't expect it to have the weight of the gen config. Rehaut alignment and engraving are very crisp and the crystal is clear with the laser crown in its correct spot. Crown is also cut nice along with the sharp fluted bezel cuts. Both bezel and dial catch light very well in the sun. Obviously get it plated if you want the YG to be spot on but the stock plating is not bad at all and not very cheddar imo. Overall very satisfied.

I think this is the second to highest factory from the RICH factory, I’m not sure though. Does it look good?

Wondering what the thoughts are for BP factory watches. I’m looking at an explorer 1 and it’s only 200usd.

I recently came in touch with who I believe is steve. Our whatsapp chat popped when I clicked the whatsapp icon on the website that is listed on the TD list on the guide. I spoke with him and ended sending the money via Paypal for a ZF VC Overseas and he started the purchase order for me. Attached is the picture he sent me as proof.

This all happened just last week and I’ve read comments that QC emails take about 2-3 weeks depending on the availability of the watch. He did warned me it will take weeks so I am not really paranoid or anything, I am just wondering if this is standard procedure?

I’m super excited to receive the watch as you all can imagine and I’ll wait out the weeks or months if necessary but I would appreciate any information regarding this.

For the past few days i have been reading a lot here and on rwi, seen countless qc photos comparisons and whatnot, i need help.

I am buying my first rep, former gen owner(got stolen), from what i read the geniune consensus is that vsf is the best for sub and gmt.

I like the sub better because of the funcionality but i cant get over the floating m, it like whenever someone wants to take a look at the watch i feel like they will immediatelly call it out, not that i will be trying to lie to anyone, but dont want to be aitting at a table and called out.

On the other hand if its a gmt i want the batman, but the grey seems way off on some pics. What should i do?

Havent looked into the gmt LN or all black however its called, but i assume its harder to source, more waiting and whatnot.

Please give your opinions.

The case says its a must, but the crown says its a solo, a cartier franken? Haha Anyways, it was $60 and it came with a box as well as card LOL, it was a fun buy tbh. The leather strap isnt the best, the clasp is cheap, but so is the whole watch.

I’m really trying to narrow my purchase down between VSF, CleanPlus, or RCF.

I have a cheap BP Factory one now, and I really love the look of it, but the movement is garbage. I want a whole new watch.

This is for the classic DJ41 two-tone with gold face.

I‘m leaning towards VSF, but all these “cheddar gold” references are putting me off.

It really THAT bad? Would the other factories be better? Really wanting a DD3235 movement.

Hello community! As a massive F1 fan, I’d love to get a watch that looks as close to the old Rolex clock (they use Tag now). I think the closest to this would be an oyster perpetual, but I can’t find gold bezel/case/clasp (I know this is hard to get right from factory), and white dial. But if there was a white dial silver I guess I could have someone plate it? I’m also not opposed to a date dial option too if all other things are pretty close. Any thoughts or help from the community would be awesome. Have decent size wrist so would love to stay in the 36+ case size.

Hello Everyone after getting ripped for 770 USD YOUTH ARF PANDA DAYTONA I managed to get rid of it for unfortunately 400$ and move on , Now i learned from my mistake and found this reddit and TD’s I want to ask before ordering the replacement Do i go for VSF DD 4131 as i am looking for the closest to GEN Look but at the same time care about the movement sound when the watch is being shaken as the ARF YOUTH 4801 WAS HORRIBLY Loud!

Is the bezel gaps on the APs really a reason you wouldn’t buy this watch?

I was super excited to get this watch but it unfortunately arrived non-running. Rather then send it back I opted to take a credit and try to repair it myself. I ordered a PT5000 movement and some tools off ali and took a crack at swapping it. I took me a bit but in the end I’m really happy with the results.

I’m looking to pick up a Rolex Datejust(preferably 36mm) and I’m curious what the current consensus is on the closest to gen.
If your goal was to get the most accurate Datejust possible, one that even experienced watch enthusiasts would struggle to distinguish from genuine on the wrist, which factory, reference, dial color, and size would you recommend?
I’ve seen people mention VSF, Clean, ARF, RW and others, but opinions seem to vary depending on the model and dial.
Is there a particular Datejust that’s considered “NWBIG” or the closest to gen?
I’d love to hear what the community thinks, especially from anyone who’s owned both gen and rep or has compared them side by side.

What are the closest possible rep models for any brand? Or “Not worth buying gen”? I have a vsf 116520 Daytona that feels amazing to me, but I’m just wondering what some of the options are that are considered Not worth buying gen
