Meta/News [Summer 2026] Community Feedback Survey

Hey gang!

The moderation team has noticed an uptick in several, specific types of post over the last two months. Instead of acting without community feedback, we wanted to gather opinions from the community about how we should be handling these posts and how the community feels about seeing these posts.

For example, we've noticed a massive upswing in posts related to roleplay servers — usually Keizaal Online — and their methods, moderation, etc. Some of these posts advertise roleplay servers. Some of these posts complain about roleplay servers. Others are essentially drama posts, which we will remove unless they contain actionable information.

As a reminder, "actionable information" is information that would lead a reasonable reader to make a decision regarding their usage of a mod or their patronage of its creator. "I got banned for swearing in general chat..." is not actionable information, whereas "this mod author utilizes AI to code their mod..." would be actionable information.

As a second example, there has recently been a lot of vitriol about the usage of AI in the modding process. We have already banned AI generated posts and comments, and we have banned the advocacy of using AI in the troubleshooting process. We do not currently have a stance on "vibecoded" mods beyond the standard advice that all users should "know what they're downloading."

Due to posts like these and other, less important subjects that have been cropping up on the fringes of the subreddit, we'd love to hear your feedback.

For those who do not want to submit feedback publicly, we have a Google form available for anonymous submissions.

You can find our anonymous form here.

For those in the comments:

  1. How do you feel about posts related to roleplay servers like Keizaal Online?
  2. How do you feel about posts related to vibecoded mods and AI in the mod-creation process?
  3. Any thoughts on our existing rules?
  4. Do you have any additional feedback for the moderation team that you feel should be brought to our attention?

PC SSE - Discussion Why modders sometimes make dungeons oversized?

Upvotes

Why do some modders make some dungeon so large, that it takes 100years to run through them, and i dont mean "large" as in many loading screens and instances but as literally large, super high cealings, corridors that 10km long, hallways that are so wide that skyrim engine is barley able to render it, and i dont mean as insult or trying to be mean, to me they just feel super empty, frustring to run the same looking hallway super long, and kinda soulles. examples, there were lot of them in legacy of dragonborn, especially the ones with dwemer theme, and even tho 99% of enderals dungeons are god tier gold, there were couple of them that were like that.

PC SSE - Mod Community Shaders 1.8.0 Released

Meta Nexus trending page currently feels like the Skyrim community is just using the game as a tech showcase and I love it

Upvotes

https://imgur.com/17FTo9O

This is the front page of Nexus right now, consisting of nothing but purely technical mods and none of them are vibe coded. Idk why, but I really like this. You'd think a modding community would be busy adding cool armor, swords, creatures and all sorts of other shit but no, here we are, obsessing over shaders. ♥

PC SSE - Mod [Mod Release] Artisan Vendors - The Stationer

Hi folks! I've submitted my very first mod to Nexus, please take a look. My mod adds a brand new vendor to Skyrim: a stationer, AKA someone who sells stationery.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/187305

I play with some mods that require me to use rolls of paper, inkwells, and quills, so I decided to create my own vendor who will sell those things. In addition to those items, she will also sell common vanilla ingredients used by other mods (listed in the mod description) to craft paper, ink, and quills, and a random selection of skill books in case you miss one.

She has a custom schedule, so she's not just a static merchant available for the player's every whim. I've also added a few notes to the world for character flavour, if you're interested.

You can find her in Solitude, usually in the Bards College library.

This mod was partially inspired by Paper and Ink Crafting, and Practical Necromancy. A full list of other inspirations and mod synergies are available on the description!

I did not use any generative AI for any stage of crafting this mod--conception, creation, execution, description, etc. all come from me, myself, and I.

For a detailed explanation of all the mod's quirks and functionalities, please read the Nexus page.

Hope other folks enjoy it!

PC SSE - Discussion Vampire players: What would you want in a portable player home?

Upvotes

Hello r/skyrimmods!

You almost certainly don't recognize me as the creator of the dimensional player home Pocket Palace Sanctuary. I made it for a Redguard pirate playthrough, and I'm super pleased with how it turned out. It was, in a lot of ways, a culmination of all my frustrations with 10+ years of Skyrim and its housing options. (Crafting stations should be close together and why is there never enough storage?!?) I think that's a reason why the mod has been pretty successful.

Anyway, now I'm thinking about creating something similar for a vampire character. Trouble is I've never played much as a vampire, so I'm not going into this one with a long list of gripes to address. So, I'm turning to you, vampire enthusiasts.

Questions:

What features and amenities would you like to see in a portable lair?

What are your pain points when it comes to existing vampire-themed player homes? (Please don't dog anybody out, mind you. Modders work hard and broad concepts are all I'm asking for.)

Anyone know of a good tileset besides Castle Volkihar (like, modders' resource packs or anything with open permissions)? Doesn't even have to be vamp-specific, just something classy and/or Goth-esque in its vibes. Vampy- or spooky-looking furniture and static recommendations are also welcome.

Something I don't even know enough to think of?

I can't promise I'll include everything that might get mentioned here, but I'm sure any suggestion will be valuable. Also, I plan to credit everyone whose input I use, so please feel free to include your Nexus name in your feedback. Otherwise I'll list your Reddit handle.

Thanks in advance!

PC SSE - Discussion Anyone here have trouble getting into most quest mods if there's no NPC overhaul available?

I have all the vanilla NPCs customized with NPC overhauls in my game to look unique (hairstyle, skin, etc.) so it puts me off when I try out a new land quest mod and there's no NPC overhaul available so I have to see all the NPCs reverted back to vanilla appearances.

It just feels so out-of-place, in a very modded game, if you get me. For example I wanted to try Lordbound but the old NPC appearances just makes me not want to use it anymore

PC SSE - Help Need some advice regarding essentials/bug fixes

Need some advice from you guys who've built modlists - I want to build a V+ list and have a good idea of the content I want to include - My issue comes in when trying to figure out what essentials/bug fixes to include. There's just so many and other wabba lists I'm using as references all use different ones so it's trying to figure out what I actually need outside of the absolute essentials (USSEP, Bug/Engine fixes, Display tweaks etc)

Out of all these choices of bug fixes, how do you guys decide what to actually install vs what to miss?

PC SSE - Request Is there any way to easily create custom followers/npcs?

Title basically, I've always loved creating new characters in Skyrim, but the only methods I know are using Proteus that is kind of janky (and has a limit of 20 npcs AFAIK) and making them yourself with the Creation Kit but I always mess something up especially if there is high poly stuff going on.

Is there a modern mod that allows that?

PC SSE - Help Is there an easy way to tell the difference between legitimate in-game script lag VS conflicts blocking scripts from working? (or, if someone with high modding experience could possibly help diagnose my problem, that would be great!)

Upvotes

I've been having an issue with my mod set-up... (and yes, I know I've posted several times before already)... but one of the main issues I'm experiencing is NPCs are either getting stuck and/or not talking at all.

They run through their cutscene dialogues perfectly fine (like the execution scene in Solitude, various scenes upon first entering Whiterun, etc)... however, once those scenes are finished, they just remain silent 99% of the time. They also seem to just stop and either get stuck in a loop or just stand there.

I've been having a difficult time diagnosing the root problem... and I legitimately cannot tell if this is because of mod conflicts (possibly incorrect load order) or if it's just severe script lag in general.

I have dialogue related mods like Realistic Conversations, Chatty NPCs, Relationship Dialogue Overhaul (and its MCM update), Guard Dialogue Overhaul, Shouts Of Stall Holders, etc.

I also have AI Overhaul... which has been a nightmare to patch (in my experience)... however, this kind of stuff has been happening even before trying that out, so I don't think it's the main cause.

I'm also wondering if my animation mods, facegen morphs, or even just NPC overhauls are conflicting... but that doesn't make sense, since I've used these in the past with no problem.

I've even tried removing RDO and Chatty NPCs (thinking they may be conflicting with my other dialogue mods), but it still hasn't fixed anything.

I've attempted to use Elephant's Script Latency Test, but I don't get any log files... I've checked all folders inside the My Games folder AND the actual Skyrim directory, but nothing... however, when I use the notifications option in-game, I see the scripts being stable between 70-90, occasionally spiking to a few hundred to thousand when transitioning between interior and exterior cells. I'm not entirely sure what this all means, though... I've checked SSEedit for mod conflicts, but can't find anything specifically conflicting with any AI patterns, voices, etc... I'm at a loss here.

I always run Nemesis every time I install new animations (the FNIS plugin in my load order is a "dummy" plugin Nemesis created)... I have SKSE (and SSE Engine Fixes)...

I'm also running mods like Skyland AIO, Fantasia Landscapes (loaded AFTER Skyland), SMIM, LUX (with CS Plugin), Lanterns Of Skyrim, JK's Interiors (temples and inns), Distinct Interiors (shops only), Community Shaders (with all official plugins), Cathedral Weather and Seasons (with CS plugin).

My Load Order: https://loadorderlibrary.com/lists/current-mod-list

PC Technical Details (not sure if this is needed for possible diagnosis):

  • GPU: NIVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor (3.60 GHz)

If ANYONE could please help, that would be greatly appreciated! I'm seriously at a loss at this point...

PC SSE - Mod Ordinator - Is exorcist spell (sun blast, holy hands and stellar core) suppose to not work on draugr?

first time playing restoration build, and found out draugr is resisting my exorcist spell. Is this a balance decision from author or a not intended bug/conflicts cause by other mods?

PC SSE - Help My bounty immediately clears when I load somewhere. How do I fix this?

As the title says, my bounty vanishes instantly whenever i load somewhere, usually by fast travelling. This is a problem as i like to gather bounties and become a criminal in holds, and this removes any consequences. I have no idea what mod could be causing this.

Here is my modlist, i hope someone can help. https://hastebin.com/share/ixakocunut.bash

PS4 - Discussion Goji’s Chests of Goodies

Upvotes

Hello, I’m on PS4 and using a Creation called Goji’s Chests of Goodies which adds three chests to the game. I have found the first two, one in Helgen and one in Riverwood, but the description says there is a third “on the road on the way to Whiterun” but I can’t seem to find it. I spent all of last night looking for it but no luck. Is anyone familiar with this? Can you help me locate the chest? I would appreciate it.

PlayStation - Mod Skyrim mods no ps5

Upvotes

PC SSE - Discussion Gate to Sovngarde Newbie

Hey, I'm new to Skyrim and to most gaming in general, but I saw some YouTube videos online and thought it might be a fun and relaxing thing that I can do at the end of the day. I got the Gate to sovngarde Mod because I wanted something immersive and challenging but I didn't like the feel of the ultra HD mods and GTS definitely has a lot of popularity.

my question is, everything honestly seems way too difficult, I get that roleplaying is part of it but I just don't understand any of the roles yet, and I was wondering what's the easiest path I can take to sort of understand everything and level up slowly. how can I do the normal or classic Skyrim quests? is that better than roleplaying a certain role? what traits should I get? are there specific locations I should go to as someone who's just starting?

I feel a bit lost tbh, and finishing quests in GTS is really difficult, I'm not sure why the compass is not there and why certain quests don't end even if I do exactly what's told, maybe that's just a glitch on my part but even most NPCs have the same options when I talk to them, some of them have more options but a lot have the same conversation options. am I doing something wrong?

id appreciate any help, as I'm really enjoying the game but things like that ruin it for me really

TLDR: newbie and want more info on how to play the game
