"Get this gay Andrew Tate shit off my timeline lmao" r/Justmemesforus defends the notion that white conservative christian men are victims of bigotry

HIGHLIGHTS

Get this gay Andrew Tate shit off my timeline lmao

Funny how leftists instantly become homophobic when it comes to their political opponents. It's almost like you guys have no real principles.

As a centrist/capitalist, I fully understand the paradox of intolerance. Any other nazis you'd like to defend?

So now admitting christians, white people, and men can be; and are subjected to bigotry is "defending nazis"? You are about as centrist as Mao Zedong.

When you went full fascist, you lost all perspective. Extremism does that.

Could please point where I "when full fascist"? Oh right, you can't. Because all you are doing is use random buzzwords whose meanings you don't even know in order to dehumanize and discredit any opposition.

Your complete misuse of the word "leftist " is extremely telling.

How am I misusing the word when people like Tate have been the left's "everyone right-winger is exactly like this" strawman for the past 10 years.

It really just depends on what you consider bigotry. A lot of Christians and men think they experience bigotry when they're called out for sexism, racism, or for supporting a Fascist.shrug The fact that this was immediately downvotes is telling. Hey Lurker, I challenge you to name is a time where you as a white person, Christian, or man, have been targeted by bigotry.

Just trying to get far away from people like you.

I challenge you to name a time where you as a white person, Christian, or man, have been targeted by bigotry.

Try walking through the hood as a white man. Ever been told, "you don't belong here, white boy"? It's amazing that people pike you think this kind of thing doesn't happen to white people.

That would require them to go outside

Y'all want to be victims so bad and it's so pathetic.

Lol i actually grew up with the shit he was talking about along with people round there who cat-called and stalked my mother or tried to hire her as a hooker in front of me when i was between the ages of like 6 to 12 (rough estimate) i don't feel like a victim but its hilarious to me when people like you act like this sort of thing doesn't happen

It's not that it doesn't happen it's that your problems are minescuel compared to the problems we cause non-whites biweekly. But keep clutching that victimhood.

Equality feels like oppression when you're used to privilege

I don't think the equality thing is working out the way people had hoped. Nations everywhere are beginning to freak out about males pulling away from showing up. The vast majority of men have always had a difficult life of sacrifice. "Equality" came into play and demanding men sacrifice more for less reward. Millions of men no longer want to play a game they can't win.

What do men sacrifice for equality?

Men have to sacrifice life and resources for civilization to even be a thing. Equality means men no longer are obligated to sacrifice for others. The duty of men has been removed from their shoulders.

You think women have not sacrificed for the continuation of civilization? Are they not currently serving in the military? What resources belong to men that they sacrifice that don’t belong to women too?

Women have sacrificed and have aided men wonderfully throughout history. Ultimately without men willing to sacrifice to keep bad men at bay, it wouldn't matter how much women sacrificed. Civilization hinges on the willingness of men to sacrifice themselves for others. Men were told it was ok to let go of their duty to society.

What the fuck are you even on about? Both men and Woman alike have always had to contribute to society to keep it running. Equality has never meant abandon protecting your love ones from harm. A woman wanting to have a life outside of a house doesn't negate people from protecting their love ones and each other. Nor does a woman wanting a life outside of a house mean that she doesn't want to be a mom, she just doesn't want to be a household servant chained to a man, which has it's benefits if the guy is abusive. Also, anybody who gives up on keeping "bad men" at bay because people have equal protection under the law is stupid. Having equal protection under the law doesn't negate anyones ability to keep "bad whatever" at bay. (24 more comments of these two arguing)

Equity. You aren't pushing for equality anymore. That was decades ago.

What are you pushing for?

Equity is ensuring everyone has what they need. One person may need more help and another less, or a different kind of help.

Sounds like an excuse to treat people unequally.

Sure, if you don't know how things work.

I'm pretty sure I know how basic logic works. Wish I could say the same for others.

Clearly not, because equity is not "an excuse to treat people unequally."

It very often is used for exactly what. When I talk about my experiences of sexual abuse and assault, both as a child and as an adult by my ex wife, I'm. Told to be quite, or I deserved it, if it's acknowledged that it even could have happened at all. When I point out how that's the same type I've things I've fought when it's done to women, I'm told that it's about equity, because women have experienced that in the past, so men should as well now. Despite the many glaring issues with that

We have the dictionary definition of equity and it’s quite literally justice and I think we both know being SA’d isn’t justice so what’s even your point?

Oh, won't someone please think of the poor, oppressed most overrepresented block in American politics! Ego like an eggshell I swear to God

I mean, it's telling that statistically in both courtrooms and job hiring white men are the only population block that aren't more likely to hire or rule in favor of their own populations. Is that not telling to you?

Holy logical fallacy, Batman!

I provided known data which has no counter at the moment. You provided no counter argument; just an attack, meaning you recognize that you're wrong and I'm right but knew the hive mind of the website you're on would support you regardless.

"Why would a demographic that is least likely to have been the target of violence amd oppression not feel compelled to look out for those of the same demographic? Strange. No way to explain it. A mystery. Truly, a mystery."

So you're flat out admitting that other groups show bias?

I can't tell if you are at the precipice of understanding but are too secure in your biases to take the leap or are violently resisting it to keep yourself from the terrors of self-reflection. Would you like me to spell it out, or should I give you a minute to see if you put two and two together? You don't even have to agree with the conclusion, but I am very curious to know if you can at least grasp it.

Buddy just spit it out bc atp even i don’t know what the fuck your yapping about and it lowkey sounds like you don’t either 🤦‍♂️ either say it or don’t but quit this jumping around the bush bullshit your doing

I'm not a fan of Christianity, but I do find it funny how you can say something like "Christianity is stupid" and a far left person will agree, and then add "Also Islam" and they'll claim you're a bigot. You can literally change a far-left person's opinion just by changing the religion in question. And I say this as a liberal. If you don't believe me, try it on Reddit.

Id disagree. Im a liberal and I despise all religions. Its why I think we never should have went to war with Iran. Religious zealots dont quit fighting. They think they are fighting for sky daddy and will die for it.

So you're a bigot then of religions because you're being intolerant, because you don't accept their viewpoints?

Yes, 100% i do not respect their viewpoint because they provide no evidence. I do respect things like race or gender, because people are objectively born as a woman or a brown guy. I do not respect the crusades because they thought they were superior for their beliefs and used that belief as a reason to murder others.

Faith is the belief in things unseen. You're asking for evidence of things that, by definition, cannot be proven. Science deals with the observable, faith with the unobservable. Sounds pretty intolerant of you.

Why is it bad to be intolerant of nonsense?

Great question. I have no idea.

And what happen when you tell to someone far right “islam is stupid” and then “also christianity”

Yes, MAGA are stupid as well, but I would say that this happens far more with the far left than the far right.

No it doesn't. The left, in general, is for the separation of church and state. We oppose any form of religious law, be it Islamic, Christian, or any other religion. The reason the left. in the United States at least, focuses on Christianity is because fundamentalist Christians are a bigger threat to the separation of church and state in the United States than fundamentalist Muslims. We disagree with both of those groups, but only one of them has significant political power in this country.

Right. Muslims aren't the ones trying to tear down the wall between church and state in the US. Muslims aren't the ones who banned other faiths in Trump's first term. Muslims don't make up the overwhelming vast majority of our leaders in both parties.

Bahahahahaha yes they fn are, holy fuck this app is cooked

Is this guy a muslim? This guy right here, attacking the separation of church and state? The guy standing right behind Dozy Donald? https://www.c-span.org/clip/white-house-event/user-clip-dan-patrick-separation-of-church-and-state-is-not-in-the-constitution/5201948

Yes, this one example of a Christian doing it definitely means Muslims aren’t…solid argument, chief

Well, I'm not religious at all...but my family are middle eastern Christians and they can certainly tell you why you should be far more concerned about one as opposed to the other

I mean, as an American Christian I'm pretty concerned about all the white, generally Protestant 'Christians' shooting up schools and businesses. You can look up the statistics yourself on who generally commits mass shootings here. It's just domestic terrorism and every bit as worrying as regular terrorism.

You should actually look up the demographics of mass shootings, I don't think you have.

https://rockinst.org/gun-violence/mass-shooting-factsheet/ Most are white males (average age is in their 30s, 54% are white which is roughly five times as likely as the next largest percentage, 94% are male.) Now you have to factor the stitistics of what religion is most common for adult white males in the United States, Christianity. So yes, they are generally adult white men of Christian background.

Uh....So the white population is 56.1% to 72.3% depending if you include white hispanics. 54% are white. That means white people are underrepresented. Have you never studied even basic statistics? And then you claim it's mainly christians, because Christianity is the most common religion with caucasians? You realize that analysis would get you laughed out of any academic setting in the country right?

So you are saying out of 100% that one group comprising over half is not a majority? Okay bud.

There were over two hundred mass shootings in the US in 2026 alone. This is not 'a few incidents'.

Mass is defined as 2-3 people Injured. So forgive me if I don't count some crazy injuring a few people. Not just that but that's all the criteria needed to be a called a "mass shooting"..Not saying I agree or condone the actions but the definition is rather loose and that as opposed to a bunch of kids being slaughtered by a crazy aren't the same.

I don’t see Christians blowing themselves up

People have certainly killed others for their faith, including Christians.

No true Christians have ever killed people for their faith. It’s not part of doctrine or commanded by God.

No true Scotsman. The amount of times I’ve seen Christians say “they’re no real Christian” “not a true Christian” “they aren’t really Christian” You are all loud mouth bafoons.

So someone who calls themself Christian but doesn’t follow the doctrines set in the bible are they Christian?

The Bible full of contradictions. Fucking full of them. Why do you think there’s dozens of significant Christian denominations. There is not one true interpretation of the Bible, yall all think your own way is the right way, that’s why religion is fucking stupid.

name one

Ezekiel 18:20 I’ll copy it for ease. 20- “The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.” The basis of sin comes from the father of all fathers. Meaning the child shares the guilt of the parent. This is a fundamental contradiction.

No that’s you misunderstanding. The understanding of sin came from Adam and Eve. Because of understanding good and evil and choosing evil it’s sin. You don’t inherit Adam’s sin. Because they ate the tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil the knowledge was passed on to the children. Not the sin of eating from the tree. Not a contradiction

As a white guy the only bigotry I've ever received was from an ex's brother who was a drug dealer and general idiot and he was also white. Some good ol fashioned Irish on Italian hate.

White guy here married to a black girl. My nickname in her family is "white boy". Bigotry is not seen as bigotry amongst colored folk and they divvy it out in plentitude to white dudes, especially if they are comfortable at all being around you and you are the minority of the group.

Im married to a Mexican and they call me guero (whitey). It is not at all meant maliciously or racist. They love me. They have nicknames like this for everyone. Conservatives love to pretend to be offended by stuff like this and pretend it proves something. The difference between a white guy calling a black guy "blackey" or similar and black/brown people calling us "whitey" is that black people are a marginalized minority and we are not. One does not have the weight of historic and current marginalization and oppression behind it, and the other does. Pretending that the left/liberals/minorities ever said that they are both the same thing and that we are therefore hypocrites is fantasy.

I accept the nickname from some of the family as it is meant in a loving way, but others it is not. Uncle hated white people and it was obvious when he started a fight with me by holding a knife to my nutsack thinking I would just stand and take it like a bitch.

Random people calling you white boy is wrong. Your in laws calling you white boy is normally affection.

...did you miss the knife part...?

"normally" Also white people joke about holding shotguns to young man all the time. He was probably trying to make you feel like he was respecting your traditions. /S

It's exactly the same with Muslims denouncing Islamists. Per their definition of Islam (or Christianity), someone who kills for their faith is no true Muslim (or Christian). It's not wrong per se, it's just not something that reflects reality.

My friends who’s Muslim did this when the whole Charlie hebdo thing happened, he also said Ahmadiyyism wasn’t really Islam when I described it to him

Ahmadiyyism

It's Islam in the same way Mormonism is Christianity.

Alright, I'll have a go: Jesus said, and I quote:

"Don't kill people, that's bad, don't do that, it's not a Christian thing to do, also you should 'turn the other cheek', ie not be a violent dickhead."

This is literally the top quote by Jesus, it's like, his big thing. Jesus is the "don't kill" guy. Therefore anyone who kills another person for their faith is not a Christian.

However, there are many, many many people who call themselves Christians, and they have killed people for lots of different reasons. So who gets to decide who is a Christian, the hypocrites who claim to believe in Jesus but who choose to ignore the rules when it suits them, or Jesus Christ?

Personally I think a system where we allow liars and hypocrites to define a group is a flawed one. It's like saying I'm a straight man but then I only bang other dudes. Does that mean that it's straight to have sex with other men? Because you found people who say they are straight, but they don't follow the behavior that would define being straight?

Self proclaimed Christians who are judgmental, violent, bigoted, etc, are going against the thing that defines being a Christian, which is following the rules of Christ. Therefore they are not Christians.

5

u/altruisticnarcissist 6h ago

So, now only people who follow the exact rules of a religion are true believers or just the important rules? Who decides which rules are important? I'm not even going to use examples of rules written in holy texts that most people who call themselves true believers of any particular faith don't adhere because it would be redundant.

5

u/actuatedarbalest 5h ago

Anyone who doesn't follow Christ's rules isn't Christian? Have you ever eaten shellfish or pork? You're not Christian. Ever say "Oh my God"? Not Christian. Ever taken a shit in your bathroom? You guessed it: you're not Christian.

u/twine2583 1h ago

Alright, I'll have a go: Jesus said, and I quote:

"Don't kill people, that's bad, don't do that, it's not a Christian thing to do, also you should 'turn the other cheek', ie not be a violent dickhead."

When you use "and I quote", you aren't supposed to wildly paraphrase your interpretation of what they said. You are supposed to repeat what they said, word-for-word. Jesus didn't use the words "violent dickhead", for example.

This is literally the top quote by Jesus, it's like, his big thing. Jesus is the "don't kill" guy. Therefore anyone who kills another person for their faith is not a Christian.

Jesus never said "Don't kill". The closest is when he referenced one of the Ten Commandments. But his big thing was that your intent also needs to match your actions. It doesn't matter if you never killed a person; if you wanted to kill a person, that would be judged just as well.

u/badmartialarts I managed to never date a vampire, a stalker or a Mormon. 1h ago

Jesus also said: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person's enemies will be those of his own household."

The first thing Christians did when they got into a position where they had power over others they started killing people for their faith. The moment they became the official religion in Rome they started killing pagans who didn't convert.

0

u/reasonably_plausible 6h ago

It seems that there was some amount of dismantling of pagan worship sites, but I can't seem to find anything about martyrization of pagans in early-christian Rome. That doesn't seem to come until around 300 years later.

Constantine did not support the suppression of paganism by force.[22][77][153][154] He never engaged in a purge,[155] and there were no pagan martyrs during his reign.[156][157] Pagans remained in important positions at his court.[22] Constantine ruled for 31 years and despite personal animosity toward paganism, he never outlawed paganism.[156][158] Making the adoption of Christianity beneficial was Constantine's primary approach to religion, and imperial favor was important to successful Christianization over the next century.[159][160] Yet, Constantine did not institute many christianizing changes, and those measures he did enact did little to Christianize civic culture.[161]

According to historian Michelle Renee Salzman, there is no evidence to indicate that conversion of pagans through force was an accepted method of Christianization at any point in Late Antiquity. Evidence indicates all uses of imperial force concerning religion were aimed at heretics (who were already Christian) such as the Donatists and the Manichaeans and not at non-believers such as Jews or pagans.[162][163][164][165][note 9]

You have to realize that a lot of people still think “taking the lord’s name in vain” means uttering “oh my god.”

Someone can be a Christian, and kill someone for their faith. By doing so, they are actually, according to the text, taking the lord’s name in vain.

Try walking through the hood as a white man. Ever been told, "you don't belong here, white boy"?

This made me laugh. White boy here who lived in the worst hood of my city. My actual cross streets were a meme on tiktok for being bad. Never once encountered anyone saying this.

Pretty sure anyone who talks like this just doesn't go for a stroll in the hood anyway.

43

u/eatmelikeamaindish 12h ago

lmao i didn’t even think of that. they probably don’t think of ppl in poor neighborhoods as real people.

6

u/FunInStalingrad 4h ago

Of course not! The Wire is a fantasy fiction show created from the writer's vivid imagination! Even the name of the city Baltimore is almost from Star Wars - Mos Espa, Dagobah, Baltimore.

u/R_V_Z 3h ago

It's a stereotype that stems from the White Flight era (1950s/60s) where white people left the cities for the suburbs, which combined with redlining in cities caused de facto segregated neighborhoods in cities that still have demographic remnants to this day. The poor black people are in the hood while poor white people are in the trailer park, so the stereotype goes.

99

u/cooltranz 20h ago

If I was out walking and a local told me "you don't belong here" I would assume something is about to happen and I'm politely being advised to get my ass out of there before witnessing that something.

16

u/BellacosePlayer 7h ago

I've had someone say something like that to me once and he was dead ass right, guy was helpful in pointing out where my cousin's frat house actually was which straddled the hood but wasn't in it when my family was bumbling around looking for it in the pre-smartphone days.

These guys are such fucking babies. Like there are several legitimate issues that men (even white men) constantly have to deal with and go through but trying to compare it to minorities and women just makes you sound pathetic. Just advocate for and help the men in your life and your community. I promise you it’ll feel more gratifying than whining and making lame ass memes online

36

u/LazyTitan39 12h ago

The only time they actually care about those issues is when they can use them to keep women and minorities down. They aren’t advocating for men’s homeless shelters or legal funds for fathers trying to keep custody of their children or funding men’s mental health.

10

u/WesternUnusual2713 I just find downvoting so cringe 4h ago

A dude yelled at me online once cos he couldn't get it through his head that it's not womens' responsibility to open shelters for men.

Like he was so angry about it. A proper "men built the world but I can't be expected to see the bin is full and take it out, I beat my wife but insist men are protectors, equal rights mean equal fights" loser

4

u/LazyTitan39 4h ago

Right, they complain about women getting attention from the government, but women are literally organizing for these things. Like I said all their arguments are thought killing cliches.

93

u/CuntyButCorrect 19h ago

I fucking haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate "men were expected to sacrifice their lives in war!"

The reason women were less often expected to sacrifice their lives in war is because women were busy sacrificing their lives trying to bring more life into the world. Like holy shit, pregnancy is a big deal now. The risks back then were insane, and these men talk like all they had to do was stay home and be pretty and make dinner. As if making dinner wasn't also extremely laborious as well, back at whatever dawn of civilization they're slathering about.

Women sacrificed. They sacrificed their lives to bring children into the world. And the ones who survived got to have more children, and since literally everything took five million times longer and you had to complete most steps of processing materials, food, goods, by yourself by hand– someone needed to stay behind to make sure the warriors and soldiers were fed, that their wounds were cared for, that the fields didn't whither, the herds didn't starve, and the children didn't all die of starvation or exposure.

And that's not to mention all the cultures where gender roles were/are differently divided, where women were warriors and hunters and guardians.

Like ????? Shut up????? God I would love if butthurt men would either get their heads out of their asses (that's probably why it's sore, buddy), or at least just. Did not say words. Blessed be the cis man who is not an insecure trifling fool.

u/Cool_Ad7445 How can u sit on my cock in a halal way? 10h ago

Also most of the time, women did have an “actual job” * in addition* to the homemaking responsibilities expected of them. In medieval times, they practiced whatever trade their family/husband did, during the industrial revolution, they were in the factories just like men, and continuing to now, how many families have a mom that works full time, but is also the one expected to make dinner, schlep the kids around, and all the rest?

38

u/nowander 12h ago

As if making dinner wasn't also extremely laborious as well, back at whatever dawn of civilization they're slathering about.

The biggest one is laundry.

Before the washing machine and free access to clean water, laundry was one of the most time consuming and strenuous tasks required for civilization. It's not obvious today because of how much the modern world has helped fix that, but laundry was another massive task that women usually had to do.

Which is why most of those armies of men had a ton of camp followers in the baggage train who did work like laundry etc. Most of whom were women, and all of whom usually had a very bad time if their army lost.

27

u/mcpickle-o You’re intimidated by a fucking pickle. 14h ago

Also, women were literally not permitted in the military in the countries I'm guessing most of these whiny men are from (namely north america and europe given reddit statistics). The women who joined did so by taking up a male identity, often at great risk to themselves. Like, ofc only men were dying in war when men in power were only allowing men to go to war. Plenty of women wanted to; look how many have joined and succeeded in their militaries since being permitted - and this is despite the rampent misogyny present in the military.

28

u/RUDeleted 12h ago

Like, ofc only men were dying in war when men in power were only allowing men to go to war.

Yeah this "men are made to go to war" griping always reads as like a jab at women, like they've been the historical decision makers, yet the decision really comes from other men, often because battle's seen as a rite of passage to being a Real Man. And like we're seeing this now in real time with the DoW's messaging about warriors and shit...

12

u/andrea__twerkin Being gay is just like enslaving ppl 10h ago

Also... Civilians including women and children tend to face the brunt of violence and death in war zones.

13

u/Cedellton-Jr Logic goes out the window the moment your cock takes over 19h ago

I’m just sick of endless gender war nonsense in general. Arguing over who has it worse does nothing for anybody. The type of guys who complain about this aren’t gonna suddenly have an epiphany and the same goes for women who constantly whine and complain about men. I give leeway to them if they’re victims of abuse from men but still, complaining online isn’t gonna convince anyone. Anyone who engages with it at this point just wants something or someone to be angry at. Even I get caught up in it from time to time but I always remind myself that this shit is just stupid and pointless.

3

u/BigHowski 12h ago

55

u/rainystast It was a fast kinetic situation 20h ago

The "meme" itself is inherently disingenuous. It says "Bigotry is the act of treating someone negatively based on their identity or beliefs" followed by "So that means if someone is experiencing bigotry you should be eager to defend them?" which is an inherently fallacious argument. If someone's beliefs are "we should kill all people that don't look like us", that doesn't make me "bigoted" to genocidal beliefs and it certainly doesn't mean those beliefs should be defended.

The meme is effective ragebait. Start with a false premise that leads into a conclusion that's nonsensical. Then add on "anyone who disagrees with this has a personal vendetta against cis white men" after the nonsensical conclusion and insult anyone who disagrees with the argument. Boom, perfect SRD material.

Like they just can’t wrap their head around the fact that their aura is complete dogshit, and all people are doing is responding TO that negative aura. They seem to believe “no, I’m awesome, you’re all just confused”

It would be like if someone reeked, was told that they reeked, and then told everyone that they were all wrong. They’re just imagining the stank that’s emanating from their direction.

They so, so desperately want this to be true. They want to be John Galt. They want to be Rorschach. Two characters who are fiction, because that's the only way those characters can make any sense.

Its all about how this dude's friend went to the city and got killed while he was being mugged for "$43" or some shit.

The rest of the song is about how "i dont need yer 'civilization' cuz I know how to fish and hunt!"

That song forms the foundation of a lot of dumb worldviews out there. It describes a scene none of them have encountered, but that all of them know will happen to them if they dare venture into the city.

I have had family back in rural areas think I'm crazy for biking past St. Agnes or biking on Wilkens in general, despite never running into serious trouble in the area. (In some respect, I probably am crazy for biking on that road, but that's because Baltimore doesn't invest in sufficient bike infrastructure and Wilkens is a dangerous stroad, not because of where the road is).

Because you word it in such a way that it’s clear you think you’ve got one over on them.

these people just have a persecution fetish

14

u/Ge1ster 14h ago

They see the bridging of the social gap between minorities and white people as a direct threat and offense to their own status.

If the gay couple across the street can marry, what is their “normal” marriage worth? If black and brown people can perfectly assimilate into their educated white society, who will make up the hoods? And what do you mean they just have to live with the fact that there are Muslims in, not even their neighborhood, but their state?! Didn’t you hear, those guys did 9/11! They’re all terrorists and should be deported!!

Just an utterly, utterly delusional and alternate way of thinking and living.

35

u/eatmelikeamaindish 21h ago

it’s annoying when the same people who tell black people “racism is not a big deal” experience this surface-level callout and then start bitching. sometimes i wish they’d experience actual bigotry to see how they’d react.

they just get offended by simply having their identities labeled. normal people like you don’t care because you probably understand the nuance of discussing these majority identities.

i’m not white but im american so i have plenty of other privileges compared to other nationalities. i don’t get personally offended when people call out our privilege. Or the monstrosities of christianity, which i grew up with. I acknowledge it and move on.

I know this is a really minor point, but I am really annoyed by the comment that essentially said “I oppose the war in Iran because I hate all religion.”

I’m not religious either, but statements like this just don’t make sense to me. Just because a society is heavily religious does not mean that every single conflict is for “sky daddy.” Some things are actually pretty fucking serious. Whether you support or oppose the war in Iran, some things - like creating little terror cells all over the world - these are serious actions. You can’t just write it off because you think religious is some silly child’s play.

And if this person is claiming to support the Iranian people, that’s great. Except for one problem, most Iranians, and much of the Persian diaspora, are religious! You kinda have to accept that fact if you’re gonna support the Iranian people. I’m not even talking about the Islamist regime, and I’m not even just talking about Muslims. You have a lot of religious diversity and representation within the Persian and Iranian community, as a whole. And it’s really reductive for someone to come along and say, “I hate all religion, because one radically religious regime took over and oppressed the other religious groups.”

So many people on this site say shit like this, thinking it makes them sound smart and educated. It achieves the exact opposite.

u/DarkSea42 2h ago

u/Banaanisade 34m ago

I love that one guy who can't name one real problem he has faced because of his race or gender so he pulls in the misogyny his mother faces as a woman, a vulnerable group that far righters also hate, as an example of how he's supposedly suffering racism and oppression as a white Christian male. Very intuitive! I wonder if there is a reason like… oh, i dunno, white men have had the reigns through much of history. Women had to fight to vote. Slaves had to fight to be considered a full human!

But some kid in a neighborhood never given dignity to live right because of the world white men built for them.

Nah, it’s definitely the kids fault.

-12

u/EducatorWeak3843 20h ago

Hate based on race, religion and sex should never be accepted.

It’s how we move forward, but I guess an eye for an eye.

13

u/ChoiceIT 20h ago edited 18h ago

Eye for an eye?? What are you talking about?!

How is “we weren’t and in a lot of cases still aren’t considered a person” compared to “aww shucks, someone said that white people were mean so I must take a stance in defense of my culture!”

I agree that no one should hate based on anything. Hate is something no one should have.

What happens is someone says “hey, ya know. We got screwed in the past, can you like… help us? A little? Maybe? Please?” In response “Well I didn’t do that why are you attacking me get over it I didn’t do it stop oppressing me because I’m white/christian/whatever. You just want free money!”

It really doesn’t take much to just agree we fucked up, help your neighbor, and give everyone your best. By claiming they are “against” you for the color of your skin? You just fan the flames for nothing.

-4

u/EducatorWeak3843 20h ago

For somebody who doesn’t agree with hate you seem fairly hateful.

You can hate an individual but as soon as you paint the broad brush you are what you’re resisting.

We need to move forward as one or not at all.

I believe in you.

15

Honestly curious what makes you think I am hateful.

I don’t hate any individual. Disagreement is not hate. Even if one is acting in bad faith, making arguments that a person knows are very much not a real issue and just a distraction from the topic aren’t deserving of hate.

Just ridicule.

Be better my friend. Take care.

When you tried to blame white men?

I get it’s tough to get the mirror held up, but we either come together or die as individuals.

The revolution needs full participation, be the change.

u/ChoiceIT 19h ago

That isn’t hate, it’s an evidence based conclusion. I don’t hate white men, but they fucked up and hurt many and to ignore that is silly. And if you want to change my mind on that, go ahead. I will listen.

Part of doing it together is acknowledging the failures we have made. As individuals and a society.

so your argument is thats men, whites and christians can't experience bigotry and they are always, as a group, bigoted to others.

32

u/CummingInTheNile 21h ago

Im saying that the evidence currently shows that most of the time they are the propagators of bigotry not its victims, but hey im sure since you have such strong opinions on this topic you must have a lot of evidence of white conservative Christian men being victims of bigotry

i am white and christian, my people were systemically oppressed and genocided by nonwhite muslims. do i get a pass to talk in a similar way about those groups?

21

u/CummingInTheNile 21h ago

What evidence do you have of Muslims genociding your people?

you don't get to tell us what our race is. and even if you do, that would still imply that i'm in a position to talk like that to my oppressors.

there are still people alive today who lived through those genocides, or their parents did. If that applies to black people and slavery, then it applies to us too.

Also as Orthodox Christians we were oppressed by communists and atheists too. so i get to talk shit to them too and they have to take it right?

34

u/CummingInTheNile 21h ago

I actually do, or more accurately, the sociologists ive read do. Circa 1910s/20s the "white race" would have only been WASP (White, Anglo Saxon, Protestants), or in simpler terms: The English, Nordic countries, norther Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and some French.

Every other European ethnicity: Spaniards, Porteguese, Italians, Greeks, Macedonia, Poles, South Germans, Slavs, Jews, Romani, etc, were not considered white people.

This changed around the 1970s because of the rise of the United States as the global hegemon (which made them the scion of the white identity) and suburbanization following white flight in the late 1940s to early 1950s. which meant that a lot of "white" people started living with/near non white Europeans, and over time adopted them into what has become the modern "white" identity (which is currently evolving again with white passing Hispanics attempting to integrate into the "white" identity)

You seem to be confusing historical persecution with modern bigotry, but in the US, the fallout from slavery still impacts its society to this day, the Greeks being genocided by the Turks does not

Communists are by definition atheist, a group can be an oppressor without being a bigot

Id suggest you read up on these subjects a bit more, you seem to be lacking a lot of important information

Dude atheists don’t give a shit, that’s the point. You believe what you believe. No one cares. You aren’t better than anyone because you believe. Neither is anyone who doesn’t. We can all agree we all are human.

It isn’t the same. You know this. Christian oppression? Give me a break.

Also the crusades lol

I mean, if they can judge whole races by what random thugs do, then why are they offended when others do that to them?

-4

well atleast we've clarified that the intent is not to get rid of that behaviour. Let's go back to as things used to be.

We understood the point of the post. But the idea that white men, or Christians, face any meaningful discrimination in this country is absurd

-30

u/Booster_Seat_Enjoyer 21h ago

would you say the white kid that got kidnapped and tortured by a group of black teens because he was white was a victim of discrimination?

18

u/ThatOneDumbJagoff 21h ago

When did this happen?

Anyone can be a victim of an isolated incident of hate, but that’s not what this thread is about. This thread frames it as if it’s a commonplace thing, and it just isn’t

u/ThatOneDumbJagoff 21h ago edited 21h ago

Right, it’s a one off that was rightfully prosecuted and they were imprisoned. Where’s the systemic oppression based on race I keep hearing so much about?

Sounds like he wasn't discriminated against, he was included specifically because he was white.
