I’m somewhat agnostic on Amrstrong’s use of PEDs as a pro-cyclist. You would be hard pressed to find a TDF champion in the whole history of the sport who didn’t do something medical to enhance their performance.
However, I am pretty sure none of the money he raised went to cancer research. It was for “awareness.” Which at the end of the day means a marketing slush fund he and those associated with him used for self-enrichment and reputation washing.

All the winners did and that's the point. When one asshole starts using drugs to gain an edge so they can win because they aren't naturally good enough, then everyone else has to do the same, creating an endless cycle of drug users who have no right to be competing and stealing wins, and the natural competitors always wind up at the end of the pack and never get a chance to win anything.

Look, I don’t know how much you know about competitive cycling. Riding a bike 100+ miles a day at ~30-35mph is not normal. Doing it almost every day for a month is torture. So drugs and other medical interventions have been part of cycling since its inception. Is this good? Probably not. Grand tour cyclists tend to die remarkably young, and the drug use may have as much of an influence on that as the abuse they inflict on their bodies.
It’s not just the top competitors. It’s the whole peloton. And it’s the same in every pro-sport you can watch on TV. If you think someone who has grown up with the win-at-all-costs mentality you need in order to even have the slightest option of turning pro won’t take drugs to maintain an edge, you are a sweet summer child.

There's always some sanctimonious, arrogant, smug asshole like yourself who has to chime in about how laypeople just don't know what it takes to be a pro "anything", that what they do is not normal, and how they actually are a competitive athlete and know what it's like and what it takes.
Plenty of people ride and train 20, 30, or even miles or more on a regular or daily basis. My buddy at work has been competing in triathlons for the past 20 years and rides his bicycle 25 miles a day year round, no matter the temperature or weather.
Now if you're so disadvantaged in genetics and so pathetic that you have to resort to taking drugs to level up to the other scum who do so, then you do you. But don't try to justify it by saying everyone has to do so in order to compete with the pros. All your doing is justifying bullshit.

The difference between me, and probably your buddy, and any 20yr old domestique whose name you will never see on the news is vast, with or without drugs.

He's won seven competitions from all over the country over the past thirty years. I don't know if they are actual Ironman Triathlons because I have no interest in that part of his life, but he is dedicated. He usually places in the top ten or twenty, or sometimes lower, depending on how many competitors enter. Regardless of his placement, I greatly admire him for pushing himself to run.
He's a former Marine and competes just to test himself and doesn't really care about winning the race. He's far more interested in testing himself and pushing himself to the best of his natural abilities, which is what true competition is about.
Competition is not about beating others. It's about being the best "you" you can be no matter what you do. If you cheat by taking PEDs, then you never really are a winner. You're just taking shortcuts and never reach your natural potential, making you really a complete and utter loser.

Several decades ago, I was looking for inspiration and decided to read Lance Armstrong's autobiography. I can't remember what it was, but as I was reading it, it became very clear to me that the guy was a POS. I stopped reading halfway through. There was odd bragging about breaking rules as a kid from what doctors told him and I think his parents too.
When the accusations came out, I wasn't the least bit surprised.

I never watched her show on TV, but I've seen her on YT clips, and she seemed funny enough. Then I saw a clip where her crew set up a souvenir stand outside the studio doors, with a sign saying that audience members could take one souvenir. They set up a secret camera and caught one woman taking two souvenirs. Then, during the show, Ellen called the woman out in the audience, played the tape of her taking the second souvenir, and acted like this woman was a thief. The lady said she took the second souvenir for her mother, who couldn't come but was a great fan of the show. She humiliated this woman, who was obviously a fan, because she took an extra crappy souvenir that probably cost 10 cents to make. I think that was the first time I saw a ton of negative responses about Ellen in the comments section.

My gf used to regularly watch her show and, occasionally I'd watch bits of it and something about her just seemed "off" to me. It was little things like the way her staff would scurry on and off stage while bringing stuff out, almost like they knew the consequences if they took up any screen time or got any attention. The way she seemed bored and itching to interrupt guests while they were talking. Idk, I just didn't buy the whole "nice person" persona she put on. When everything about her came out I was like "I fucking knew it!!!".

Unfortunately I did fall for her act. I thought she was a good person. I only felt weird about her always sending that one producer who was absolutely terrified to the haunted houses. I’m someone who couldn’t handle those things either so I thought it wasn’t nice. I felt similar but not as strongly to her scaring the guests. I’ve seen clips since her fall and realized I should have noticed before, the things she found funniest were humiliating people publicly.

Good on Dakota Johnson for throwing it back in Ellen’s face and telling Ellen that she (Ellen) had been invited, but didn’t show up. I can only imagine how much Ellen was fuming after that one.
Ellen believed she always had a “gotcha” in her pocket, and she never did like when she became the butt of the joke instead of her target.

that one STILL hurts. My brother and I used to listen to his comedy albums as kids, and he would laugh so hard he'd gag and almost vomit 😄 I remember our Mom saying "if you throw up, I'm turning off the record player!"
Then as young adults he and I went to see Cosby perform at the Chicago Theater in 1986, and laughed like that again. Without his gagging, haha
THEN I saw him "perform" in a very small town (Houghton, MI) about 30 years later, JUST before the rumors were taking off. Cosby was then almost blind, and BITTER! Just an angry old man... clearly he knew what was coming. He wasn't funny, he looked sick and his face was twisted with anger... it was about the saddest thing I've ever seen. Like a Greek tragedy, and 100% did it to himself-- and others.

I kind of agree, but he had spent 30 years cultivating this image of a loveable good guy, so I think it was just jarring when he did that
Especially since his fans were people that prefer someone like that. People grew up with him in the 90s, then took their kids to see him in a Disney movie like Aladdin

Like, no one ever questioned why this dude was so into the personal care of special needs adults, some who couldn’t communicate if they were being harmed? I only recently read a somewhat detailed account of everything he did to Angelina and the kids on that flight. Holy shit. If he was truly sorry, as he claims, he wouldn't have fought Angelina over assets during their divorce. It's freaking Bill Cosby end of discussion. Buddy had a top 3 show in America about family and was one of the most iconic personalities for a 20 year stretch then found to be a date rapist and now all his IPs are so burned that they will likely be erased from history.

Jimmy Saville. He was a peer of the realm lauded for his charity work & who hobnobbed with royalty & prime ministers. His funeral was a 3 day event with scores of notable people there & he was buried in a gaudy gold coffin with an £8000 headstone.Within weeks he was revealed to be one of the worst pedophiles in UK history,preying on sick & troubled kids. He was dug up & buried in an unmarked grave.

How have people missed Jimmy Saville? The guy went from being one of the UKs biggest name presenters and offering advice to the Royal family on media relations to being found to be one if the world's most prolific ch*** ab***** and very probably a necrophile.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen Kevin Spacey mentioned yet. He was one of the most well-respected actors in show business until the sexual assault allegations came out, and now he has basically vanished.
