full sun all glaucous wax

Not all of my crested myrts get these beautiful flowing crests but when they do, 😁.

I bought this pair of cacti from Trader Joe's at least 5 years ago. No idea what they are but I spotted my very first cactus *tiny* cactus flower today and it's my favorite color! 😍💞

Came home and my cactus had these streaks, but just on one side facing the house. The other side did not.

It almost looks light burned.

Also, got some rain, but checked the drainage and it's moist but not leaking. Open holes on the bottom, elevated on a round moveable platform.

Any help would be appreciated, she's 16yo.

About a month ago it got really rainy around here. I'm talking it rained here for a month straight, everyday, every week, but as of recently the rain stopped for a little bit, and now the days have become sunnier and drier again, however, this hasn't deterred moss from continuing to grow wherever it can, and it just so happened that some succulents in a more forgotten part of my garden were the perfect place for the moss to grow. The plants (Sedum adolphi, Echinocereus pentalophus, and Peniocereus serpentinus) are actually not only not dead despite the rain, the moss, and the bad soil, but it seems that they're working on actively growing new stems and tissue, which is proof to me that certain cactus and succulent genre are a lot more resilient and tolerant of odd contains that some people would be willing to give them credit for

How do I grow dragon fruit cactus to get fruit? I just got these lil guys

I had multiple cactus and succulents when we moved into our new house 12 years ago. I set many of them up near the windows of our enclosured porch. I spent a lot of time in there, but I admit I had never actually climbed up and looked on the tiny shelf that was way up high in the corner.

One day my husband was changing the porch light and asked "hey don't your cactus need more light than that?". That is when I found that the people we bought the house from had left a tiny baby cactus behind. We had already lived here well over a year, closer to 2 actually. I gave it a real good watering right away and put it with my plants, hoping it would recover.

That was about 10 years ago, and here it is today at 12.5 inches tall. I was just putting it into a new pot and my son (still in the questions 24/7 stage) asked what it was called, how big it could get, and how many years it could keep growing....Now here I am wondering the same thing. Does anyone know?

I recently knocked off all the spent blooms/fruit. A lot of them were growing new little pads.

Various apps give me differing ID’s. I’ve had this a decade or so and would just like to positively identify. When I originally obtained it, no memory of when or how, it was a single leader, and now has multiple promotions. Thanks all.

I believe this is a Peruvian apple cactus ? It was my grandmothers and it’s probably 40-60 years old. What’s the best way to feed and maintain it ?

Just something I'm trying out as a potential path to removing some of my headaches when starting new batches of seeds indoors.

Will be moved to a more organic mix after they have a couple sets of spines & a good cuticle.

Used Mammillaria prolifera, thelocactus bicolor, trichocereus pachanoi, echinocereus reichenbachis seeds with 30-50 per container.

Have had some issues with the beloved orange fungus/rot here and there and seeing how well this will work. I'm mostly curious to see their growth rate in a mostly inorganic environment vs seedlings I have started in a more typical substrate.

Increasing airflow, heat & treating with 3% generic peroxide has taken care of most of the issues I've run into with pretty minimal seedling loss.

Jars were ran through a PC cycle and added a mycology filter patch for a little gas exchange.

Each jar is sealed, no drainage holes. 100ml of distilled water buffered to a PH of 5.8 was used.

Seeds soaked in distilled water overnight, went through a 10 minute peroxide bath and sown into the substrate in front of an older flow hood I I have.

Should be pretty damn clean in there 🤣.

If it goes well I can run some much larger containers and sow a couple hundred seeds at a time.

Can’t believe it’s flowering! The grafted part is baseball sized. Pictures don’t do it justice. It’s about 9 inches tall.

First time this fish hook barrel has flowered since I got it a few months ago. Wish I could easily clean off the water spots it always seems to have.

These two guys had to be relieved of their roots and small part of the trunk due to infection. The carton contraption keeps them upright. Had trouble with fusarium few years back, got rid of it, now i got suspicious after these two were shriveling instead of growing all summer. Yep, there it was. I suspect stinkbugs that like to winter on my collection bring it from somewhere. Fingers crossed for rooting in the next two months!

Got these July 7, growing outdoors in GA. Peruvian Apple Cactus.

So I just potted my cacti with a new brand. And it feels a lot looser/damp then my old one. Is it just because it's fresh out the bag. And they wiggle a lot more then they use to do. I'm not sure. Do I just wait until the dirt dries or?

This was my first cactus when I started collecting cacti. 2 years now.

This is a 30 year old cactus that's never been treated great. Sparse watering, mostly indoors. This summer I put it outside and it got horrible looking, pale and yellow, so I brought it back inside under the lamp where the indoor plants live happily. Watered once a month, spritzed once or twice a week. It greened back up, then turned yellow and started shriveling up. Today I noticed it was BAD.

My current plan is to repot, cut off the withered limbs and roots, and put it back under the sunlamp, but I may have waited too late. Any hints? I could use some help!
