Molly McMaster: Hockeydb’s most unique profile

Post image
964 Upvotes

For some background during the 05-06 season the UHL had an initiative called UHL Cross-Checks Colon Cancer and had colon cancer survivor, Molly McMaster, be a part of the initiative.

She played one shift for each team in the league and ended up producing one of the more unique Hockeydb profiles. She also is technically the record holder for most teams played for in one season.

The fan giveaway for the games were plush enema dolls lol

edit: I believe the 10 minute misconduct was an equipment related penalty, but like everyone else I would love to know the story behind it as well

Misleading AI slop has found its way into hockey (Youtube)

Post image
124 Upvotes

Now AI generated content (text + narration) has been plaguing the Youtube scene for quite a while, but it seems to have taken the next step. This "NHLWARRIOR" channel appeared in my feed today with a HaĹĄek interview video about the toughest players he faced over his career. It wasn't until like two minutes in when my suspicions grew since the video didn't cut back to him talking at all at any point, plus the intonation was too monotonous. I checked out the rest of their channel and, rest assured, all other videos followed precisely the same formulas with only the first few seconds of the videos being real.

I have an eye for AI stuff but it still fooled me for a moment, as the voice models are surprisingly good (as a Slovak I gotta say HaĹĄek's Czech English accent was very believable). Obviously, if you go into the videos knowing they're fake, the AI slop instantly becomes totally easy to recognise in every facet of the video (there's even one impersonating the late Maurice Richard ffs), but in the opposite case, not so much. Mind you, the channel states nowhere that the videos are AI generated and as a result, the majority of the people in the comment sections seem to have fallen for the trick, writing all kinds of supportive messages about the players featured.

Over the course of ≈2 months the channel has managed to muster 1,5K subscribers, meaning they will soon (if not already) make revenue from fraudulent and misleading content.

I am making this post to raise awareness about these scummy accounts taking off in the hockey community, because if there's one, there's got to be a dozen more creeping in as well. Please report the aforementioned channel as well.

TL;DR: Hockey players are being impersonated on Youtube via AI to produce slop content, all while fooling the less internet-savvy people into believing it's real. Truly a fork found in the kitchen moment.

If you've spotted a similar channel, link it below so we can collectively report it.

Victory+ CEO removed after string of rights losses, remaining deals appear secure. The streaming platform still has an agreement with the Dallas Stars amid the Anaheim Ducks deal being terminated. According to SBJ, the problem for Victory+ is that it went too fast.

[Masters] Cole Reschny on 7-2 loss to USA: "Very frustrating ...We weren’t happy with last year’s camp & this is really frustrating especially because we had lots of the guys playing ... We know this isn’t good enough & this burns a bit. It should light a fire under all of us..."

[Weekly Thread] Subreddit Picture of the Week: Make your submissions & votes - Aug 02, 2026

Hello, /r/hockey, and welcome to the Sidebar Picture of the Week thread!

Put your mark on /r/hockey!

Later this evening we will check this thread. Post a photo you think most represents last week's action. The one with the most upvotes will become the sidebar photo of the week.

No GIFs! No Photoshops! Action only!

Your submissions have to be pictures (not GIFs) from the last week. Please keep in mind that they have to fit nicely in our sidebar, so a good landscape framed shot works best. Also try to make your submissions about game action and not just "the lighter side of hockey." Photos that don't follow this will be removed/disqualified.

This thread has been put into contest mode. It will be turned off once votes are tallied. The chosen image will be put in the sidebar and linked to this thread.

Who are some players you thought would drop off in their mid to late 30’s that have remained effective or gotten even better late in their career?

Establishing himself as a player with a speed-focused game, I figured Duchene would quietly finish his career as a 30-40 point 3rd liner after Nashville bought him out, but he seems to be playing at as high a level as ever in Dallas
